Unfortunately, the patio was very flawed. It was not flush with our driveway, it collected water anytime it rained, many of the stamps did not line up correctly, there were several tool marks, finger gouges and even a shoe print embedded within our design and a poor patch job under our side garage door. Three other concrete companies were consulted and all stated that there was no way to fix this patio (or any stamped concrete job once it set). We hired another company to remove the patio (costing us an additional $400) and replace the patio with one that was satisfactory. Originally, Andy felt badly (as did I) about the way things had turned out admitting that my patio was the most flawed patio he had ever laid. He promised to refund the $2200 he had been paid so far (I withheld the last $1000 payment due to my dissatisfaction) and did, in fact, refund $900 within a few months. We are still owed the remaining $1300 and have not seen any money since October. Over the months, I would follow up and inquire about my refund and his responses turned from "I'll have a check out to you Monday" to "Sorry! I am waiting on money myself unfortunately!" to "Your job cost me a weeks work. Plus 2500.00 in labor, color, sealer, concrete, fuel alone cost me 250.00. I was cutting you a sweet deal and now it is costing me dearly!...I never thought it was fair that I eat all the cost of the job....I am curious to see the perfect patio that you replaced mine with!" He obviously has no intention of reimbursing the remaining $1300 which means that we are forced to go to small claims court (which is a huge inconvenience) so I definitely would not recommend this company for a stamped concrete job and I definitely would not be using him again.
Description of Work: Andy Workman, of American Border Concepts, was hired to remove our existing paver patio and replace it with one of stamped concrete in May 2012. He quoted a great price and was very passionate about his work and our vision. He DID remove the pavers and mapped out the shape of the new patio and even removed some grass (at no extra charge) so that we could put in some flower beds (his idea...and a good one). New concrete was poured, stamped, stained and sealed.
