Description of Work: In 11-2007, Tidwell reroofed the entire house with modified bitumen emebrane weld to surface. Two months later the roof had several leaks. They blamed the chimney 2008. In 2009, 2010, 2011 there were other leaks. Tidwell did temp solve the problem. Since the big storm/flood 4-18-2013, there are multiple leaks. Tidwell says the the warranty has expired. Their last patch job was done with common calk. I have had 3 big companies of Chicago give estimates, and their conclusion is that the roof was improperly installed (vertical instead of horizontal) and the seams were not sealed correctly. Tidwell has refused to fix the roof. Therefore their grade is F.

Months after the work was done I noticed water was coming in after a heavy storm. I gave the company a call to send someone to check their work. They sent someone to give me an estimate for a new roof. I called them back to say I did not want a new roof, but to check the work. They got argumentative about the situation. I would have understood if I needed to pay for a repair, but the were not willing to even look at the roof. I feel that this company was not very responsive. I felt that I fell to the bottom of their customer satisfaction list.
Description of Work: I hired this company to replace the flashing on our roof and do some tuck pointing on our chimney.

THE MEMBER HIRED TIDWELL ON APRIL 24, 2007 TO FURNISH AND INSTALL NEW PREFINISHED STEEL CHIMNEY FLASHING AND SEAL THE ENTIRE CHIMNEY WITH SILICONE SEALANT FOR A CONTRACT TOTAL OF $650.00. THIS WORK WAS COMPLETED ON APRIL 30, 2007 TO THE CUSTOMERS SATISFACTION. HE DID NOT CALL TIDWELL AGAIN UNTIL JANUARY 3, 2008 @ 1:02 P.M. AND REQUESTED A BID FOR A NEW ROOF. TIDWELL INSPECTED HIS ROOF ON JANUARY 7, 2008 AND A PROPOSAL WAS SENT TO HIM ON JANUARY 9, 2008 FOR A TEAR-OFF AND NEW ROOF. HE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE PROPOSAL AND DID NOT CALL TIDWELL AGAIN UNTIL SEPTEMBER 26, 2008 @ 3:30 P.M. AND ADVISED THE RECEPTIONIST THAT HE HAD A ROOF LEAK AND WOULD LIKE A RETURN CALL ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 29, 2008. TIDWELL RETURNED HIS CALL ON THE DATE REQUESTED AND THE MEMBER ADVISED OUR ROOFING PROJECT MANAGER THAT HIS LEAK WAS AT THE CHIMNEY. THE MEMBER WAS ADVISED THAT A REPAIR TECHNICIAN WOULD BE DISPATCHED ASAP, BUT OUR BACKLOG WAS APPROX. 5-7 DAYS. HE CALLED AGAIN ON OCTOBER 6, 2008 @ 11:45 A.M. TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF REPAIR AND A TECHNICIAN WAS DISPATCHED ON OCTOBER 7, 2008. THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THE STONE CHIMNEY CAP HAD A LARGE CRACK IN IT AND THE CHIMNEY WAS IN NEED OF TUCKPOINTING. TIDWELL DOES NOT PROVIDE TUCKPOINTING REPAIRS SO HE WAS ADVISED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO HIRE A MASONRY CONTRACTOR TO PERFORM THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE MEMBER INSISTED THAT THE CHIMNEY FLASHING WAS THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK AND REFUSED TO ACCEPT THAT HIS CHIMNEY NEEDED REPAIRS. HE DEMANDED THAT TIDWELL RETURN TO HIS HOUSE AGAIN TO INVESTIGATE THE CHIMNEY FLASHING. HE WAS ADVISED AGAIN THAT THE CHIMNEY, NOT THE SHEET METAL FLASHING WAS THE CAUSE OF HIS LEAK. I FEEL THAT TIDWELL WAS VERY TIMELY IN OUR RESPONSE TO HIM AND ALSO VERY FAIR SINCE HE WAS NOT CHARGED FOR A LEAK INVESTIGATION 17 MONTHS AFTER THE INITIAL WORK WAS COMPLETED. I ALSO FEEL THAT IT IS EXTREMELY UNFAIR THAT OUR COMPANY RATING IS SO ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY ONE CUSTOMERS SKEWED OPINION.
