The installers arrived on time. They were very friendly and professional. There were no problems at all with the measurements and installation. It has been almost two and half years since the counter tops were installed and I have had no problems. One thing to note is that you often hear that granite has to be sealed every year. Precision applied a 15 year sealer that appears to solve that hassle.
Description of Work: I went to the Precision Stone Design office/warehouse and met with Gina. She explained the process. I selected a granite slab that was on sale. I selected the slab that was to be fabricated, finished and installed. An employee came to my home and took the measurements. The counter tops were installed as promised.

First of all, the women I worked with (Harlene and Ish) were wonderful, patient and very knowledgeable about granite and how things are fabricated. They provided me with a full bid each time I changed my mind about things (And they pointed out to how I could save money too.)They worked with me to schedule the measuring, and my installation. Both the measurer and installers arrived right on time. The gentleman that measured was a true craftsman. He made suggestions and we came up with a perfect design, including a piece of granite that would sit on my rolling cabinet in the kitchen. Everything came, fit perfectly and I just love my countertops. There was, however, a situation were something in the kitchen needed to be replaced due to a minor accident during installation. I found the company to be so honest about everything and they worked with me to have a small repair done. I was impressed with their attitude about wanting to make everything right.
Description of Work: I replaced my old formica counter tops in the kitchen with granite ones.

This is a long overdue review of my/our experience with Precision Stone. Gina Saran of Pecision Stone worked closely with us from preliminary stone recommendations to final installation and follow-up. She was outstanding. From the outset she provided information about the durability of various stones we were considering and was frank about what we could expect from out final choice of soapstone for our perimeter countertops. She sought out and suggested a number of different stones as alternatives for the "marble look" we were seeking for the island but with less maintenance and worry. We settled on a beautiful white macubas. We had an unusual situation with the perimeter countertops in that we wanted them to actually be the window sill in one section. They templated this tricky area beautifully. The island countertop required two slabs and they did a nice job of placing the seam in an inconspicuous area. The installation was timely and professional.
Description of Work: Recommended stone suppliers, consulted, and fabricated a very large kitchen island and perimeter countertops for our remodel

Horribly. This was one of the worst providers I've ever seen. This review is being written a year after the install, and they did give me a discount to make it right, but it was just a terrible experience. My job was a bit tricky, but they said they could do it, so I foolishly believed them. I picked a stone with a lot of flow, so I made sure to go in for templating to make sure the pieces lined up correctly before they did the cutting. Come install day, after they arrived late without calling, it was apparent that they had completely thrown out the template and started from scratch. This involved an overhang that we'd originally asked for, but removed by template stage, as well as just general flow matching. If they'd kept the original template or even paid attention flow when they made up their own, it would have been fine. So back it went. The second time it came back, they'd apparently broken one piece and subbed out another slab causing very bad stone matching at the seams and a variety of chips. Back it went again. Finally, after a last minute trip over to the shop by my father of all people, we had slabs that matched and the kitchen was put together, sort of, on the third visit. However, due to various issues, lateness, and missed appointments, I ended up missing work 3 times, and my husband two. There are cracks all over the stone (including one about 7 inches long with a polishing halo around it!!), places where it doesn't meet the wall, and very sloppy seams. One of the bathrooms as well wasn't right with lots of chips out of the marble, that they nicely filled in with white caulk after we pointed out how bad it looked. (this was a 4 ft vanity) They'd also mispriced the vanity and changed the price without alerting me to it on my new invoice. In conclusion, while this place had a great selection and seemed to have even better prices, you get what you pay for. If someone had a very simple job that they weren't too concerned about, this would be the place to go. Otherwise...stay away.

Not as well as we had expected.
Description of Work: Showroom impressive, although small. Sales person extremely helpful. Installers not to good. Tracked dirt on our carpet and staircase. Backsplashes apparently pre-cut, (from their measurements), but did not fit when brought out. They were going to leave and re-schedule with newly cut backsplashes. This was not a good idea since all 3 tops were cut from one new slab, and new backsplashes would not have matched. We deckded to go with what they had, and they caulked where necessary. They also scratched our mirror in our Master Bath when installing that new top. We had a plumber (they sent) the same day to install the plumbing and our new faucets. He did nothing, said he could not install the new faucets, they were too short for the thicker counter tops. He left us without working sinks. After considering that $450.00 charged us for a plumber doing nothing, we called Precision and cancelled further plumbers, and requested a $450.00 credit off our bill. That Saturday, following Precisions installation, with a little help from Ace Hardware and Just Faucets we managed to install our 3 faucets and new drains. No leaks and they are all working fine. .We chose Precision because they were first on Angies List, but have reservations as to how accurate the reviews and recommendations are.

After an extensive search for a granite slab that we liked, we settled on a slab that Precision had at their premises. We chose Precision as our fabricator because their price was fair and included gas and plumbing disconnect and connect, which was a convenience for us. The person who came out to measure was very helpful and knowledgable. Although the granite itself is beautiful, the fabrication and installation were sloppy. The seams were very evident and the sink was installed crooked. We did have a good experience with the plumber, who was very helpful. When we advised Precision of the evident seams and crooked sink, they sent two workman out. After several hours, the seams did not look any better (perhaps worse) and instead of removing and reinstalling the sink, they just pounded it over a little, but it is still crooked. Precision never followed up with us to see if we were satisfied with the "fix." If we could do it over, we would not select Precision as our fabricator.

We were only calling them in to measure and make a proposal, which they did. We were satisfied with his plan, but as this was a "second opinion" we decided to go with our original plan.
Description of Work: Used them to lay out a kitchen plan, which was ok. They were very easy to work with. We ended up going with another company for the job mostly because we had already done some work with them. If we had another job would certainly call them in.

Tim was responsive and punctual in setting up the meeting and coming to my house to discuss what I was looking for and take measurements. Although I had some ideas, I was open to what he had to say and suggest given that he was the designer. Some might feel that his suggestions were okay, but to me it would be a no-brainer that you wouldn't take a very open space and close off parts of it. That's a step backward. I vetoed that idea. When the drawings came back the bathroom was nice and the kitchen was okay, although again the back door entry area was narrowed in his drawing to accomodate something I had asked for. He could have said "sorry but I couldn't do that unless I took some of the entryway" but that wasn't the real problem. The cost estimate was way beyond what we had been discussing. In his email, Tim said "keep an open mind" about the cost. I was left with the feeling that we would never be on the same page.
Description of Work: I had bought an Angie's coupon for $60 for drawings of a kitchen and bathroom remodeling, along with a proposal and $$ estimate . The company came out, took measurements, discussed what I was looking for, and emailed me the drawings and cost estimate a few weeks later.

We had granite countertops installed in our kitchen prior to putting our condo on the market, we couldn't be happier with the results. Our experience working with Precision Stone Design was a very good one and we would definitely recommend them to others and would be happy to use them again ourselves in the future. The selection process was very transparent and they were sensitive to the fact that we were looking to sell, so while we wanted everything to look good, we weren't looking to break the bank. The installation went both quickly and smoothly and the end result is even better than we had hoped!

We went there on a Saturday morning at their opening time (9am) with our drawing, We were shown to their back yard where the remnants are kept. We looked through the stock and chose the piece we wanted, They wrote up the order which included an additional piece for the shower threshold. The piece looked like it might not be quite large enough, but they had other remnants of the same type in their manufacturing area which would also work. The pieces turned out great, although the original backsplash was finished on the wrong end. We verified that our drawing did indicate the correct end that was to be finished (as the backsplash ended in a corner) so the error was on thier park, not ours. I brought the backsplash back and they finished the other end. At that point, I ordered a side splash out of the same material.
Description of Work: We purchased the special deal for a vanity top & backsplash approx 32" X 22" for $219.00 with finished edges and white undermount sink. We added a threshold for our shower 48" X 6.5" for $85 and a side splash for $125. We were able to choose from a wide selection of remnants. Our choice was quartz Paladium.

Precision Stone Design did excellent work. I obtained two other quotes and all the pricing was similar, so I think the price was fair. I am very pleased with the new countertops. The installers arrived at the scheduled time for both the estimate and the installation. I questioned some of the measurements and was able to reduce the quote, though I don't think they did anything dishonest. The installation was beautiful with minimal mess left behind. There was a very small issue -- one corner was square while the others were rounded -- which the installers came back and fixed a few days later. I love the new countertops and would use Precision Stone Design again.

We called for an estimate on replacing countertops with granite in our kitchen. The technician showed up on time and created a detailed plan of all the countertops. We also looked at a few granite samples and picked a few that we liked. We were supposed to get an estimate from the sales rep. We never heard back.

We searched Angie's list before buying a voucher for services and discovered Precision Stone Design had great reviews. We then purchased our voucher and selected colors of granite based on their website to get a rough estimate. We worked with Ish who was very prompt and always followed up with us no matter what the question or concern was. The overall experience from start to finish was excellent along with the prices considering we went to several places prior for estimates. The granite was installed and it looked beautiful. Definitely will be a return customer.

We began in their showroom and Sunny was very knowledgeable and patient. We were also helped by the women in the showroom who were pleasant and very helpful. The day before our quartz was to be cut and delivered, they invited us to see how the pattern would look and explain where the seams would be. The men who delivered and put in the quartz countertop did a beautiful job. They arrived on time and were efficient. A bonus was that we found a coupon of theirs on Angie's List and saved $400.00. We would use them again.

After a long search for the right granite, we finally settled on Precision Stone, which we were referred to by a friend. It was the exact granite we were looking for and it was a good price, but that's all the positives we can say about our experience with them. The job was in three separate phases. The main kitchen counter top, a new bar counter, and the vanity and shower section in the master bathroom. The install on all 3 phases were a complete disaster. We had cut a wall in half to open up the space and placed 8 ft of granite to make a bar counter. When installing the crushed a section of the wall by laying too much weight on it, damaging about 1 foot of the wall, which my contractor had to repatch and plaster. They cut the hole for the kitchen sink faucet in the wrong position by putting it too far back despite being given the template from the sink manufacture, so we couldn't use the faucet lever we had bought. They did not measure the clearance necessary so we had to search for and order a new faucet to fit the hole they cut. When caulking around the inside of the sink, they left huge gaps in the seal where there was no caulking at all, and globs of caulking down the side of the sink. The edge of the counter did not have the rounded edge we ordered and seemed unbuffed at all and was almost sharp. They sent someone back to fix the caulking in the sink, and buffed the counter edge to smooth it off but left a mess of residue running down the side of the new kitchen cabinets, and down the bar wall. The residue stained the painted wall and had to be repainted. In the bathroom, the mis-measured for the dual vanity sinks, even after presenting them with the template from the manufacture, so now the sinks wouldn't fit in there proper position and they wanted to cut a section out of the new vanity cabinet to fit it into the hole. We declined that option and since it was there error, which they admitted, they recut the slab after my contractor help find the solution, further delaying the install. Once again, made a mess caulking around the vanity sinks, leaving gaps and globs of caulking all around the sink seal For the shower bench and threshold, they did not even caulk around either, another job for my contractor to fix. in the end their offer was to send someone out for the third time to clean up their mess or $150 credit. I took the credit to offset the costs I had to pay my contractor to fix all their mess, even though it was only a fraction of the actual costs to get it done, I did not want them back in my house to make any further mistakes. Any benefit that came from the actual square footage costs of material of the granite was no where near the costs, and frustration dealing with the install. Would definitely NOT recommend.

We were planning our kitchen remodel and saw the Angie's List coupon for Precision Stone. After visiting the showroom and meeting with a salesperson at Precision Stone, we decided to purchase the coupon to use Precision Stone. The salesperson was very helpful and knowledgeable about the granite. The selection and purchase process went very well. The install crew was very professional as well. Our salesperson left the company in the middle of our project which was disappointing but we had no problems with the completion of the project. Due to issues with our cabinets, we had to have the countertop installed on two different days. Precision Stone was very amenable to this. The only difficult part of the process was how much advance notice was needed to schedule the install. It's pretty difficult to get the contractor to predict with certainty the exact date that everything will be ready for the granite install and continue right up to that point. We also purchased our glass tile backsplash through Precision Stone. This was accomplished by visiting the supplier's warehouse and selecting what we wanted.

I bought a Big Deal for 3D plans for kitchen renovation. Tim came out promptly, talked to me, measured my kitchen, and seemed to have a very good attitude and good ideas. He got back to me in a couple weeks with the preliminary 3D plans-- very cool! He said if I wanted any changes, just let him know. He did make one change I requested, sort of, but had not totally understood. I explained again, said I'd like to see the change in the plans, but that I do also want a full bid, and could we do that Saturday? He emailed that he would get back to me Thursday to let me know if Saturday would work. It is now Sunday-- no contact on Thursday, or since, and no update in the 3D plans. UPDATE-- Repeated emails got no answer, so I finally phoned the main office. They informed me that Tim no longer works there-- and that, truth be told, he never did! So, back to square 1...
Description of Work: I am sorry to say, this did not really pan out. It started off well-- I bought the Big Deal to get 3D kitchen plans. The gentleman who came out was friendly, knowledgable, and had good ideas. But before my plans could be finalized, he and Precision Stone parted ways. Apparently, Precision Stone does not actually do remodeling-- this was an arrangement with this gentleman, that did not pan out for them, either. They were apologetic, and urged me to ask Angie's List for a refund, which I have done (just today). So my review is no reflection on the countertop work done by Precision Stone-- since, apparently, I was never actually dealing with them! It is all a bit confusing, but nothing really lost except some time (presuming that the refund is forthcoming).

My wife got the itch to "freshen" the kitchen by getting rid of the old 40-year old formica countertops which I had hated for years. We kicked around butcher block, went to a local Menards to look at quartz, and stopped at a store near our home to look at granite. We decided that granite was the way to go for beauty, durability, and resale value. Even though quartz appeared to be more durable, it just didn't match the beauty of natural stone and Menard's was a do-it-yourself scenario, something I wasn't about to try myself, not at that cost. I turned to Angie's List and found that Precision Stone Design in Schaumburg was highly rated on Angie's List and they had some good promotions going.I ended up purchasing two of their coupons based on the square footage we ended up buying and it saved us $600 when all was done. We went in to their office on a Sunday morning and talked to Jaci who was so nice and very informative on pros/cons of quartz vs. granite. What really impressed me was there "showroom". That had a warehouse just down the street that had at least 30-40 full-size granite slabs to choose from. A small sample just doesn't give you a good idea of what it's going to look like full-scale in your home. Their selection was impressive and they had some beautiful granite at very reasonable prices. The first place we had looked at granite was $18/sq ft more for a very similar pattern that we ended up selecting. Jaci left us and let us just browse for what we liked. They had added brighter lighting to make sure customers saw the granite in proper lighting. We ended up selecting a stone that day and scheduled a measurement appointment. Their rep showed up as planned and on time and was very thorough. He provided detailed instructions on what I needed to do to prep for the installation. I had to beef up the back of one section of cabinets in order to provide a sturdy backdrop for a backsplash and I had to add some support brackets for an overhang on our island. He made a VERY helpful suggestion that the kitchen would be so much more open if we raised up the cabinets above the island which we both thought was a fantastic idea. I spent a week doing that and what a difference it made in the room. Precision Stone per contract wants you to personally inspect the slabs that will go into your home so that you get no surprises the day they show up to install. The slabs were beautiful when I went in to inspect and to finalize the contract. The installers showed up on 1/29 per our important and were very thorough and professional. It was a very rainy day and was mud city out in our gravel drive. They put a tarp on the carpet to make sure the mud stayed off the rug. They were done in under 3 hours (I had ripped out two of the counter tops to insure that proper bracing and cabinet strength was sufficient but they normally would have done that) and we couldn't be happier. The granite is just beautiful and they did a great installation job. The guys in the shop did such a wonderful job of machining the stone that it was just perfect. We could not be more pleased with Precision Stone. They were total professionals from beginning to installation and the selection of slabs they had was fantastic. Jaci our sales rep was just wonderful and I highly recommend giving her a call if your are in the market for granite. Precision Stone Design is great. I would recommend them to anyone. You won't be disappointed.

When they came out to meausure, they had to send a carpenter to level the cabinets. Unfortunately the carpenter had to return since the job was not done right. Once that issue was resolved, the countertops were installed smoothly, but since I had a radiator under the sink, the undermount sink wouldn't fit if I wanted a garbage disposal. So, I had to get a heating specialist to remove the radiator before the project was finally completed.
