They were available. It's not my first choice. Did a good job.

I asked for a quote to move two light computer desks, two beds, a baby crib, two TVs, two computers, about six chairs, a small round kitchen table, a handful of small nicknacks, and our kitchenware and food. The total move was to a location 59 miles away. The quote I got back was from Erika Jensen. Description Rate Discount Cost Moving (Estimated 6h 15m, 2h minimum) $140.00/hr -- $875.00 Fuel Surcharge Per mile (104.77 miles) -- $93.25 Mayo Clinic Employee Discount (5.0%) -- ($52.86) Truck Fee Truck 1 -- $89.00 Estimated Balance $1,004.39 Aside from the slightly higher labor cost, they quoted me hourly labor charges for over 6 Hours which is ridiculous as it wouldn't even take an hour to load or unload the truck with the provided inventory. Next, the truck rental fee covers the cost of the ENTIRE truck while it is in use. Yet they charge an FSC of $93.25. Round trip the total mileage is 105 miles. Standard logistics FSC is calculated based on the price of fuel. At the time of this posting, diesel is $3.83 per gallon. With an average MPG ratio of 7 and a Standard industry FSC of 34% means the FSC should only be about $20. When I brought this up to the sales rep, they replied saying that the FSC is what it is and is non-nagotiable. Even if I paid for the fuel full price the cost would only be $58. An FSC is intended to be a SURCHARGE over a baseline price average of fuel. It is NOT intended to cover the entire COST of fuel, nor be MORE than the actual cost of fuel. These people are obviously price gougers and do not respect their customers. Buyer be ware!

I would highly recommend them. We had a very large move out of state. Our closings were one month apart, so we had to use storage. From my first call to the end of our move, everything was professional. The team cared and you could tell they enjoy what they do. They made a very stressful situation go smoothly on all fronts.

Terrible, F- for performance. Midwest loaded our truck and did a horrible job securing the furniture. We rented blankets of which they used half and piled the other half in the back of the truck. We provided straps but it seems the way the furniture was loaded made the straps ineffective. The guys spent more time standing the driveway smoking than they did properly packing the truck. When the truck arrived in GA the movers that were unloading the truck were hesitant to do the job due to safety concerns. 80% of our furniture was significantly damaged. Customer services response was to shift the blame to me and the trucking company. "Midwest Moving is not responsible for damage during transport" and "Why did I not better supervise the moving crew as they loaded the truck"

Rip off! The movers took double the time as any other moving company I've used in Chicago. Took smoke breaks, coffee breaks and flat out took their time and when I'm paying by the hour it is ridiculous! My move cost double then any other move in the past and there was no change except the company! Unless money or time isn't an issue this company is for you. Be warned!

If I were to rank my preferences, moving would rate just under getting a root canal. Who enjoys the disruption, the last minute details, and the anxiety about whether or not you put enough bubble wrap around whatever it is that you desperately do not want broken? I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Midwest Movers. Everything, from the first phone call to the final walk-though was conducted with professionalism. I was able to schedule the date I needed for the move. The movers arrived on time and were both courteous and efficient. They introduced themselves, they asked about special concerns and they apparently listened when I pointed out the boxes I asked to be treated as fragile. They moved swiftly, but carefully. They protected the carpet of the place I was vacating. The foreman even left a chair out for me so I wouldn?t have to stand in an almost empty room while they finished packing up the truck. My new home has wood floors that were recently installed and the movers were more careful of the floors than I would have been comfortable asking them to be. When they left, every box was in the correct room (seriously) and there was no new damage to the walls or floors. I hope I don?t have to move again soon but if I do, I?m calling Midwest Movers.

We signed an agreement with Midwest Moving & Storage, Inc. in January 2012 for a move of our company in May 2012 from Burr Ridge, Illinois to Fort Worth, Texas. The contract amount that we signed with Midwest was for $196,756 and the contract stated that they could only charge for ?actual charges? invoiced by Midwest. Four months after the move, and after having paid the moving company, they sent us an additional invoice claiming we owed them an additional $135,735.68. Since the moving company did not present us with any detail of the additional charges and we had not been informed during the course of the move of the additional charges, we refused to pay the additional outrageous amount. Midwest brought a lawsuit against us in Illinois for the $135,735. During the course of the lawsuit we came to learn that instead of billing for ?actual charges?, the moving company had inflated their invoices to us by increasing the amounts charged to them by certain third parties they retained to perform certain of the moving related services by anywhere from 30% to amounts greatly in excess thereof. The contract did not state that the moving company was permitted to increase the third party invoices, yet they did it anyway. In our opinion, they also increased the time of their employees work as compared to their own records and work tickets. Rather than throw more money away for a very expensive trial, we were forced by the economics of the situation to settle with the moving company. Our experience with Midwest Moving & Storage was horrible and we strongly recommend against using this company. 16W

The movers arrived promptly on the day of the move and they took the time to introduce themselves and walk thru the home. They noted which items needed special handling and then actually transported those items with the necessary care. The loading of the truck was efficient; they even managed to take a large armoire from the third floor without damaging any of the walls or woodwork. (Something the previous moving company could not accomplish). The move into the new home was textbook perfect. When we arrived, the movers walked thru the home and listened as I explained where I wanted the furniture placed. Both the elevator and the stairwell in the new building were small but the skill of the team enabled them to make it work. Everything ended up where I had requested and each box was placed into the correct room. Each member of the crew was both courteous and professional. I have moved more than enough times in my life and I have never before experienced a move that went as smoothly. The crew worked well together and they were able to make adjustments as needed. I would enthusiastically recommend this company to anyone who is in need of a mover. This team actually made the very stressful experience of moving as pleasant as humanly possible.

I use them atleast 10 times a year.

They were on time and very respectful. When we added extra to move they were very accommodating.

where do I start!. First off, I had to repeatedly call the contact guy to send the documentation I needed to fill out for the billing. he finally sent it the day before move day, then I had to scan it, sign it, and e mail it back. The movers arrived in my building on time but they had the apartment all wrong, making them almost 45 min late in getting in through my door. They were slow. My move from a one bedroom apartment took them 9 hours!!. They started packing about 9 am, finally at 6 pm, they told me they would only take my stuff out of the boxes, so they brought all my stuff out on the floor and tables. There was stuff everywhere. 2 days later I am still unpacking!!. I regret using midwest movers. They are totally disorganized.

We stored enough items to fill a four bedroom house and we had a lot of problems with them. We had our stuff in storage for 5 years. They delivered the items with mold and some items from the shipment were missing. We had paid extra for climate controlled storage and it should not have been delivered moldy. We made arrangements with them to do the move and we chose them over two other companies as they quoted the best price. On the day of the move they made us pay more money for the service. The drivers and the guys that did the loading and unloading did do a good job. The storage and pricing was where the problem was.

They arrived on time and were very efficient and mostly did a good job, but they weren't very responsive to our concerns on the spot. However, they did a pretty good job, and none of the furniture was damaged. However, they did leave one small mark on the wall, not too bad for a full three-bedroom house plus basement move.

This was a short distance, small home office move,which didn't require much if any packing on the movers' side. However, the movers were on time, courteous and quick. They originally quoted a couple of hours for the move in/out and they were done in a about 1 1/2 hrs (which also adjusted the quoted price down). At the destination they had to make adjustments to the entry door to fit our sofa through and they did that without a complaint. We were very happy with them and would use them again in the future - even for a bigger move.

It went great. They have plenty of people and moved us very quickly. They were very careful and everything went well.

They were a nightmare. They seemed to be rushing the whole time, they broke a vase then fixed it with packing tape. I've had movers break things in the past and they tell you. This company didn't even inform me, they were completely unprofessional. They had been recommended as a great moving company but I have nothing good to say about them. I tried to talk to their company and they really didn't want to hear about it. I wouldn't say he was rude just not interested. How they ever got on the internet as the best moving company I have no idea.

Started looking for movers on Angie's list for my office move. Only issue was the new building we were moving to had a requirement for Union Movers (many of the movers here were non-union). We asked the building for recommendations (the ones they gave us were super expensive) and through research I found Midwest. Paul B. came out and assessed how much we were moving and sent out a very detailed quote. Their pricing was slightly more than some other competitors, but the detail in the quote and their responsiveness made me feel very comfortable. On the move day, the guys arrived about 15 minutes early and got right to work. Even the large and awkward items were moved it ease and really fast. Guys were very professional, polite and hard working. Finished the job 2 hours under the quoted time.

In January of 2008, we used Midwest Movers for moving services. Upon the initial call, they were able to provide a quote and estimate, the # of hours for the move, in addition to the # of people required for the move. I called them approximately 1.5 weeks before the move and they were able to accommodate our time and date requested. They showed up on time and completed the move ahead of schedule reducing the cost originally estimated. Three men moved our items and I was worried since I have a lot of antiques. They wrapped up everything very nicely and all of them made it to our new home without a nick or scratch. We were very pleased! Upon their arrival at our new home, they put down plastic on all of our carpeting to ensure protection. All three were very courteous and helpful.

Midwest moving lied to us. We informed them prior to our move that we required a hoist for our move. The corners of our building are very tight and we had previous bad experiences. They told us no problem they had a hoist. Then their movers showed up 90 min late with no hoist, just straps and ropes to pull them up with. Half of the team they sent were day laborers and not professional movers. They scratched up my furniture and took chunks out of my wall. They almost dropped my 100 year old piano and they had no idea how to move it. We finally had to stop them and leave several pieces of furniture in the garage. We then had to hire another moving company to complete the job. It was a complete nightmare and it was definitely the companies fault. The men they sent worked extremely hard they just didn't know what they were doing, and when we realized they were going to have them pull the sofa's up by hand we knew it would exhaust them so we asked for more men which they didn't have. We booked this company 4 weeks in advance so they should have known. Shame on them for how they treat their workers, their hiring practices and their complete inability to plan and schedule a move correctly even when provided with detailed information.

Midwest was as good as any mover I have worked with. The problem is as a storage company. I purchased 35k in extra insurance to cover the items, however, it only covers items THEY pack. We had about 620 items in the move and out of that 37 were never found 26 were damaged to the point of insurance settlement or repair. We still have not received a 5k dinning room table (still in repair for second refinish). The repair service they used was very good and were able to correct most furniture damage. On the day of the move in there crew was on time and very helpful. We had two trucks full. The first truck went fine. The second truck was a disaster. When the door was lifted many items fell out broken. Even the crew was stunned by the amount of damage. Settling the claim took months. I withheld the last 3.5k until we agreed on numbers. Stay away from Midwest's storage unless you can have an lawyer write your contract - which is doubtful with the ICC involved.
