Runde's Landscape & Garden Center

The installers drove large tractors over my lawn without asking for my permission and damaged my irrigation system. When I asked the Runde's employee about it he acted like he could care less and said there probably wasn't anything wrong. He didn't want me to alert the homeowner either. I attempted to contact the owner and so far no response.

Before starting our project I wanted to know what was needed to build not only a great looking patio but one that will last for many years so that our investment would not go to waste. Joe (the owner) met if not exceeded all my expectations with regards to materials and techniques used. Since I was looking for examples on here when researching my project I will provide some. He dug the proper depth and laid down virgin grade gravel, he used rebar into the foundation and poured concrete for the steps for the brick to sit on leading into the house so they won't sink over time, poured concrete for the step down to the fire pit area for the same reason, used quality Pave Tech edging and not some cheap generic stuff, uses 12 inch spikes for the edging instead of shorter spikes, and used geotextile fabric. We have a lot of curves in our patio and the seat wall was also curved. There were a lot of cuts to make especially for the fireplace. There were 3 people working on our patio with Jorge being one of them. He has been with Joe for many years which definitely shows. He and his men showed their experience by making all the cuts perfectly and doing and overall excellent job. We've already had many neighbors compliment our patio on how awesome it looks. We are more than happy with how it turned out and with the quality of work done. I would highly recommend Joe and his employees to anyone looking to building a brick paver patio. His price won't be the lowest but if you are looking to get the job done right and done well then Runde's Landscaping is a great company to go with.

In Feb/March of 2010, Joe Runde came out promptly to give us an estimate for our landscape needs. His ideas were creative with a price tag within our budget. At the conclusion of the estimate, he said he would return to his office and write up the official quote. Weeks went by and we had not heard from him despite multiple calls to Runde's. Approx 4 weeks after his visit, we had the final estimate which we agreed to. As per Runde's policy, you have to put a 1/3 down as a deposit so your job is scheduled. After we gave him the deposit, he said we would hear from him within a week regarding a date when the work would begin. Again, weeks went by with no call from Runde's despite multiple calls to them for an answer. We were concerned since they had $1425.00 as a deposit. Finally after nearly 3 weeks, we received a call from Joe giving us a date. We expressed our concerns re: not returning our calls. He said he was really busy. Fortunately, Runde's landscape team arrived the day they committed to to being our project. The landscape design was fantastic. they did a great job on the patio as well except it was obvious they did not seal the patio. In typical fashion, we had to call Runde's several times re: this before we heard back. Joe assured us it had been applied. He provided us with details on and quot;how to telland quot; that it had been applied yet it was clear that it had not been applied. Begrudgingly he sent his team out to apply the sealant. After the sealant was applied, it was obvious it was (finally) done and the patio looked fantastic. In 2011, my husband and I were quite pleased with the job despite the annoyance of having to call multiple times to get an answer. We had Joe come back out to our house to provide us with a quote re: more landscaping in our backyard as well as obtain a quote for landscape cleanup. he was surly towards us but we put that aside since we were ultimately pleased with the outcome of the work in 2010. At the end of the estimate, we were to hear from joe re: final pricing within a and quot;week or two.and quot; Well, it has been 2 years (as is January 2013) and we still have not heard from Joe Runde despite several calls to them. my final call to Joe Runde was very clear...do you want this job or not. the answer is clear since we have never heard from him.

They were outstanding. The design of the project reflected my interest and input. The materials were of high quality. They had excellent work crew. They were always on task. They came in the budget that was agreed upon. The finished product was up to my satisfaction. I would use them again in the future.

This year's and last year's projects turned out beautifully!! We felt the quality of the work to be excellent on both projects. Since we have soft peat soil in our yard, we were concerned about the walkway and other construction sinking or cracking. But with the combination of equipment Runde's used to compact the soil, rebar, and the framing construction used, we feel confident the patio, planter boxes, walkway, and stairs will not sink or crack. Joe Runde was great to work with from start to finish and has a lot of creative ideas to share. I was looking for someone who could do something creative in our yard, and Joe was THE one to call. He is very good at working with you to make sure you get exactly what you want - at the price you can afford, with no surprises later. I would highly recommend Joe Runde and his very hard working team who show a lot of attention to detail. The team has been with Joe for a number of years and it is obvious they know what they are doing.

Joe's team (Jorge was the foreman) was at the house promptly each morning for nearly two weeks straight. They removed the old concrete in one day and had the entire area graded by the next. They added wide steps from the back porch, making them standalone as the house is 120 years old. They converted the cellar door entrance into a brick walkway, added a self-draining drain. They completed the work on time, with a week to spare before the wedding. Several professional contractors commented on the craftsmanship and were amazed at the detail, including cutting the bricks to fit the smallest corners when they could have just gotten away with adding extra sand. They installed a wooden fence to hide our trash cans and cut the board next to the old garage to match the curves of the wall -- amazing! We chose the lighting with Joe's recommendations and the look is fantastic. We have more landscaping work to have done, such as adding some additional trees and working on our side yard. Joe is the only landscaper I'll ever have work on our yard. His passion for his work shows in the beauty of the finished product.

Everything that I wanted him to do and that we talked about was on the design just the way I wanted it, too. I think that he has been using the same team for 19 years and I am extremely happy with the job that they did.

Joe Runde is a very good designer. Now he is slow to respond because he is located rather far from me but his pricing is very reasonable. I am very satisfied with the landscaping he has done on my yard.
