Description of Work: I was looking for bids to demolish and replace a sidewalk and porch cap and also to set 3 poles in concrete to hold a tornado slide in my back yard. While Crossroad Builder was not the lowest bid, it was not the highest and the other bids I had were not going to be able to start for about 3 weeks. Since I wanted the job done as soon as possible I awarded the job to Crossroad Builder because Mr. Anderson said he could start the next day (Saturday). He asked for 1/2 down and the other half when the job was finished so we gave him a check for $1,125.00. He drove straight from our house to the bank and cashed the check. He then text Saturday morning and said he would not be able to start Saturday but would be there at 8:00 A.M. Monday for sure. At 9:30 A.M. Monday my husband called to see where he was and he said he was having some problems but would be there later that day. He finally did show up and set the 3 poles in the back yard then left without saying when he would return. The next several days were spent texting asking when he was coming to finish the job. He made promise after promise that he would be there "for sure" but would not show up. One time he even claimed to be on his way and still never showed up that day either. After many unanswered calls, numerous text messages and just as many excuses it was more than a week later when I started to threaten to go to the States Attorney. Then he finally showed up with one young man and it took them about three or four days to bust up the sidewalk and front porch. I am not a contractor but the work did not look very good to me. He was supposed to start pouring concrete on Thursday but when that didn't happen he said he would be there Friday for sure. When he didn't show up Friday, I tried all day to call and text him with no response until late Friday evening when he finally text claiming his phone had been dead all day. Then Sunday evening the young man who had been with him to bust up the porch showed up at our house to tell us that the reason Mr. Anderson did not show up or return calls or texts Friday was because he was in jail. He had been arrested for a warrant in Jasper County for "Home Repair Fraud". This kid also informed us that until Mr. Anderson turned him loose on our porch with a jackhammer, he had never operated a jackhammer or laid block in his life and that he informed Mr. Anderson of that fact beforehand. I had a trusted contractor come down and look at what had been done. This contractor was not able to finish the job for us but he said you could tell just by looking that "this was not a professional looking job." When inspecting the work we discovered that some brick was going to have to be repaired because it was cracked and some completely replaced because it was broken so badly. Our house is a brick home and the bricks were up above the porch.Judging from the quality of the work that had been done so far and knowing that he was using inexperienced help, we were afraid what kind of mess we might have if we let him finish the job. Bottom line, after about 3 1/2 weeks a job that should have taken approximately 3 or 4 days to complete was only about half done and we were not comfortable letting Crossroad Builder finish the job so we ended up firing Crossroad Builder and hiring someone else to finish the job.

Description of Work: He Did not honor our contract |We paid him in advance for the first two installment payments and he never showed back up. He did not get the appropriate permits and did not have lincensed plumbers and electricians like we were told he had the city inspector shut him down. Had to get an attorney to move forward. Still fighting with Bob to get work finished
