Perfect. They were right on time and very professional.

They came out when we called and gave us the estimate and they arrived when they said they would be here to take out the trees. The men were professionsl and polite, they went right to work and finished up in a couple of hours.

If you hate your neighbors, then this is the tree service for you. They arrived @ 3:00 p.m. with a mobile crane and man lift truck and proceeded to place them side by side in the neighbor's driveway(barely enough space for 2 cars much less two large pieces of equipment). This entailed placing their crane's outrigger pad (to stabilize the crane) directly into my hedge about 5 feet over my property line (ruining my hedge and compressing the soil by about a foot). They did not ask permission to do so. As they cut down the top of the tree (about a 10-15 foot section), they swung the tree section over my property and dumped it on my shrubs and my front lawn. I was aghast but attempting to be good neighbors, my husband and I watched to see if they would move the tree section immediately. They did not. They had set up their shredder in front of our front yard (partially blocking our driveway) so that any tree sections would have to come across our property to be shredded and cut up versus setting in front of our neighbors' home and yard (where the work was being done). As we watched in horror, they dropped another 15 ft section of tree on top of the first section which was already crushing my shrubs. When they started to dragged the second trunk piece across our front lawn, we dove into action by running outside to demand they cease using our property as their work zone and to remove the tree sections off of my shrubs; they laughed and did nothing. We took pictures and debated calling the police. They continued this horror by informing us they couldn't move the tree section because their crane had broken, totally ignoring the fact they had set the first section of tree on my property and on my shrubs before the crane broke and were set up before the first cut to work using our property as the work zone. Not once did they knock on our door to ask permission for anything. After spending 3 hours trying to get the crane operational, I assume they finally overrode the crane mechanism which prevents a disabled crane from moving ( an OSHA safety regulation) and proceeded to make up for lost time by cutting the remaining 25-30 ft section @ the base of the tree and roping the entire section 10 inches from the top under two deteriorated branch stumps and swinging the entire section (within 5 feet of our home and using a faulty crane) over to the driveway. By this time they had moved the shredder to the appropriate property as well as the second dropped tree section laying on my shrubs and front lawn but still cut up the entire first dropped section over 20 feet of our front lawn. Not once were there any limbs or tree sections on our neighbor's front lawn. I contacted Merritts business number on Tuesday while the crew was still working stating, on voice mail, what had happened and asking for an address to send a bill for damages...I heard back from them on Friday afternoon, only after I called them a second time and stated I would be writing a negative review on Angie's List and asking to speak to the owners before I wrote the review to see if the crew working was indicative of the entire business or just that particular crew. When I finally spoke to someone it was the crane operator, not the owner as I had requested. I learned the owner was one of the crew members who laughed at our consternation over using our property as their work site. In other words, the ownwer was on site as a member of the crew! Most of the conversation consisted of excuses and lies. When I kept shooting down the excuses (e.g. when told he dropped the first tree section on my shrubs and property, the crane operator stated he " didn't know anything about that", followed by the statement "he was aiming for the street"). In fact, the crane operstor informed me I was being "kinda crappy" about this whole thing because after all, he told me he was sorry and that should take care of the whole ordeal. When he asked me what I wanted, I informed him I wanted it to to not have happened (which he mocked) and to try to prevent this from happening to someone else. I'll try to post some pictures w/ this review so you can see for yourself. So while our neighbor was probably happy with Merrtts (they didn't damage or even use their property for the work); I wouldn't hire this company if you value your next door neighbors or ever want them to speak to you again!
