Description of Work: Wow where go I start ? This company is horrible and should be shut down for ethics violations alone!!! I agree 100% with the other reviews and had very similar very bad experiences! I purchased 13 windows in late 2010. They were supposed to be the highest quality at $600 each but turned out to be no better then windows u get at Lowe's for half that !!! The older sales guy promised the world and didn't deliver. They were a month late on install. They installed the windows with no insulation around them ... I had to go back and add spray foam after finding leaks !!! They messed up my trim and offered me a free window for my garage as payment.. lol I fought with them for a year to get that window and the remainder of my refund they promised.... never got a dang thing. Talked to the vp and pres and they did nothing !!! Run run run ! Thanks Andy

They have been in business for many years and when they preformed the job, they came out every day and cleaned up after themselves. Overall, they did a good job.
Description of Work: I had them come out in the fall to put siding on my house.

We had Midstate replace our old windows with their "top of the line" windows. The company was very professional and worked very quickly at replacing the windows, and putting up the new siding. However, we've had problems with some of the new windows: either not fitting snugly enough to prevent air leaks, hard to open & close, or the screen not fitting properly. Their rep who comes out to fix these items (Rory) did an excellent job when he came out to fix a list of items last week. However, I strongly recommend not ordering any large windows from them (we replaced two small, close together windows with one bigger one because it would be cheaper, as suggested by the salesman). The company that makes the screens has a problem with getting them to fit the window properly. We think we will have to end up using duct tape, or something else to close the small gap on the side of this large (approx. 5ft x 4ft) window. This is one of our biggest regrets about using this company. Top of the line windows should fit the windows, screens included. And there should be no leakage around any of the windows. We believe that Rory did an excellent job doing what he could to fix the problems with the windows. We have had no problems so far with the siding. It will be interesting to see how well it holds up to our Midwest hail storms this spring! As yet we also haven't seen a big decrease in the utility bills, but we probably won't recognize any until January's bill comes in. When we first contracted with Midstate to perform these services, we were told different starting dates, we were told they were not removing the old slate siding, then were told they were, then we were told they were not going to remove it. We would frequently call the company with questions, which were not returned and we had to call again. However, since completion of the windows and siding, and our experience with Rory, we would give them higher marks on professionalism.
Description of Work: We had Midstate replace our very old windows and siding. We had approximately 21 windows replaced. The siding was for a story & 1/2 house.

The salesperson was very nice and responsive, he basically gave us a deal we could not refuse and as I looked back on it, this should have clued me in that I was going to get what I paid for. At the beginning of sprint of 2008 we wanted to replace all our windows for about $22,000 and since the roof was getting old Midwest gave us a great deal for the roof at only $4,000 and gutters for about $2,000. After I signed the contract, the friendly prompt customer service from Midwest went out with the contract. They missed the installation dates over and over again, after about 6 weeks of calling and complaining a crew showed up one day and put up the roof and the gutters in one day. We were supposed to get a complete new roof replacing the old roof but instead they just slapped a roof on top of the 2 layers the house already had. After complaining, they refunded some of the cost of the roof for the mistake. The windows did not get installed until the end of the summer about 5 months after they originally promised to install them. The crew did not cleaned up their mess very well and left the stickers on the windows that my wife and I had to take off with a spatula. Then we noticed that about half the windows they installed were not the triple pane windows we paid for but double pane (less expensive). We again had to go through more delays and missing installation dates. Finally one guy showed up one day and replaced the windows around November and I was looking forward to putting this bad experience away. After that first winter, the maintenance free gutters started leaking and ice cycles formed all around our house because the gaps were not set correctly, when it rains the water from the roof just pours down the sides of the house. I called and called and again there were missing appointments and finally sometime in the summer of 2009 a crew came late in the evening and fixe some of the leaks on the gutters promissing to come back the next day but never showed up again. I finally gave up on this company (they wore me down), the windows they replace are now bowing and do not shut easily, the sliding doors leak every time it rains and the floor around the doors will need to be replaced because the wood warped from the water. The gutters are still leaking and forming icicles during rainy days and the winter. It?s a night mare?

Response from Midstate Siding & Window Company Inc
We entered into an original contract with the customer on 3-26-07 for 10 windows. On 4-18-07 an add on of 5 more windows, 2 patio doors,1 custom finished entry door with 2 side-lites, a roofing project, and gutters and leaf guard product was made. The contract states "To install a new roof on all existing surfaces in color of Spanish tile Layover existing shingles." The roof was installed on 5-27-07 after shingles of that color were received at the warehouse. The windows and doors were installed 7-27-07. The delivery of the custom finished door system was delayed which caused the delay of the installation. We always try to install all of the window and door products at the same time to reduce the inconvenience of installation scheduling. The windows were ordered with Heat Mirror. The factory sent the windows with the wrong grid placement. 6 sash were replaced. However, 2 of the windows, that were to have heat mirror, were shipped from the factory with the standard double pane low e thermal glass which we later replaced after the manufacture remade the glass units. This was all done at no charge to the homeowner. The gutters and leaf guards were installed 7-2-07. The actual project was completed on 8/12/07. The service which consisted of replacement glass was done later after the parts were received by our company. We have preformed multiple services for the customer. Any time the customer requests service on any of their products we take care of the problem. We agreed to discount the project by $1000 to try to appease the customer and keep good will. We understand that when you are ordering products that have to be custom manufactured and finished that these products can be delayed for many different reasons. We can understand a customers frustration and will try to make amends whenever possible. We have and will continue to service this customer and all customers' projects as we have since 1979. We have always provided a high quality product, experienced craftsmanship, and continuous service. We will always try our best to satisfy even the toughest and most unreasonable customer. We try to go above and beyond to maintain a satisfied customer. We tried to make amends with the $1000.00 discount even when the delays were out of our control and when we were following our contract to the fullest. Sincerely, Midstate Management
