Magnusson Siding & Windows

You can't beat the Magnusson's for work ethic, work done in a timely manner, and professional all the way. We had our roof shingled last year and it's still like new with no problems. There was a slight ding in the gutter that I could not even see from the ground, but they pointed it out and wanted to replace our gutter. It could have been there years ago, I don't know, but it was not really an issue, so I declined. The point is that they are that serious about quality and leaving everything looking good.

A storm with horizontal rain and high winds last week caused water to come through a double-pane two-part picture window with an arched top, high up in our 2-story living room. As long as we had owned the house, there had been a pressure crack in the inner pane of the upper arched portion, but the condensation that resulted never seemed too much of a concern, But when water started coming in then dripping onto the lower sill and splattering out over a large area of the room, we couldn't tell if it was coming thru the crack, through the junction of the two parts of the window, or somewhere else. As soon as the worst of the wind and rain finished it stopped, but we had already gotten out a ladder and rigged up a container to catch the dripping. Upon inspection, it became apparent by the discoloration of the surrounding sill and trim that this may have happened before. I called a lot of places to see about fixing the window, but all of the local companies said they wouldn't touch a window that they hadn't installed, so my only option was replacement. And the company that had put the windows in when the house was built said there was a 3 week wait before the carpenters would even be able to set an appointment to come out to do an estimate, let alone do the work! Luckily I had also called Tom, and he happened to be the first appointment. Aside from being early and getting right down to business, he was very friendly and explained everything in great detail. After taking a look, he went ahead and ran some caulk where the two parts of the window met there was a slight gap. He said the window was structurally sound, the issue is with the surrounding trim, so there was no reason for replacement. Offered some ideas on where else the water may be getting in, a gable vent, but it was unlikely, and as it would mean ripping out part of the ceiling to inspect, unless it happens again, there's no reason to go there yet. Now to go cancel the other appointments I made, all of which seem to be high pressure salesman that are requiring both of us sit thru a 90 minute presentation!

We shopped around and received about 5 estimates. Mr. Magnusson was the lowest and a true specialist in doors and windows. He only used high-quality products and had suggestions to help us cut our costs even more. They replaced all trim around the doors and even installed a keyhole (that I forgot to ask for until after the door was in) free of charge. His workers were very professional and totally cleaned up any mess. The work was excellent and fast. Mr. Magnusson was excellent about keeping us updated. We are very happy and would call him again.

Mr Magnusson contacted us immediately after our initial inquiry. He explained the process and the options. There was no pressure on us to make a quick decision. The workers were good and courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Mr Magnusson came twice to check their work.

Mr. Magnusson was easy to get a hold of and was very helpful and professional. His son and another worker came to install the windows and sliding glass door and I was so impressed with their work! They seem to take pride in their work, were friendly, and cleaned up after themselves. They even saw that I was missing a corner piece on my siding, and offered to nail in an extra piece they had that matched perfectly, at no extra charge. I am happy with the quality of the windows so far as they are easy to operate , are attractive, and seem durable. I would definitely use them again in the future- a pleasure to work with.

I don't know how even rate that. I guess they were good. I will probably grant them a B because the job was a little bit fine. The quality of the job was fine but the installation was not. I am not going to use them in the future. I was happy with the bathtub, but they did make some mistakes.

They showed up when they said they would, and did quality work. Did not leave until they knew we were satisfied. Can't ask for much more than that.

Tom Magnusson took time to explain all our options. It's a small company, but they are extremely professional. I had three other contractors come in and give me an estimate of replacement windows. Tom's estimate was $5000 lower than any other. We had approximately 20 windows replaced, so it was a fairly large job. His two installers were extremely professional and very courteous. After the job was done, we noticed a minor issue with one of the windows. Within two business days, they came in and fixed it. It was a pleasure doing business with them.

I waited to review them for a few months to see if the new siding and windows did offer the reduction in utility costs. This has been a very cold winter, but my utility bills were actually a bit lower than last winter. Mr. Magnusson is an honorable man. I recommend him without reservation.

FANTASTIC!!! I highly recommend Tom's group. I've know Tom over twenty years in business dealing and many personal areas of Ministry service. When I saw him listed on Angie's List I KNEW I need look no further. Most of his business is by word of mouth and you have to be excellent to sustain a business. Call Tom and your job is done - he'll take care of the rest!

Excellent, professional, friendly, punctual service from detailed estimate to complete clean up. I have recommended them to others and would use them again!

Tommy Magnusson, the owner, was very prompt in returning our initial contact and quickly filled out the estimate for our inspection. He was very helpful in helping us choose the color of the siding. His workers were always here on time in the mornings and worked hard all day long. They always made sure they cleaned up when they left for the evening. Tommy's son and a fellow worker installed the windows and did a fabulous job. It was very difficult for a couple of windows because this is a 100+ year old farmhouse and nothing is plumb. When the workers needed Tom's advice, he promptly came out and gave them advice so that the window fit properly and the siding could be installed correctly around the window. This company is fabulous and we would definitely recommend them.

I have had no problems with them. Everything went the way that they said it would. They were great to work with. The windows that they sold were better than other windows I have used in the past.

Called, met me the next day, pleasant sell, they ordered windows, windows came in a couple of weeks, came the next day and installed, owner followed up to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. Great job.

We had one double pane window that had condensation on the inside of the panes. I was worried that I wouldn't find a company that was willing to come out and fix it. They were more than happy to drive out to my house, check the type of window I needed, order, then come back out and replace it. They were friendly, respectful, and had the job done in under thirty minutes. The window is a perfect match and is airtight. I don't remember the exact price, but it was more than reasonable. I highly recommend these folks - they were great.

Beginning in July 2012 we had 3 estimates for the above work completed by companies or individuals we found on Angie's list. One company didn't show up when promised, rescheduled and still arrived several hours after promised time. That person wrote his estimate on a business card,then forgot to add in other jobs we asked about. He never followed up and his estimate was way beyond our budget. The other company came on Friday, promised an emailed estimate by Tuesday and we finally received it 10 days later after two phone calls from us. Their estimate also left out some important items. Again, no follow up from them. Their estimate was a lot more than the others. Mr. Magnusson, however, came exactly on time to our appointment. He spent quite a bit of time going over his products, etc., showed us samples of siding, windows and gutters, and wrote out a preliminary estimate before he left. He followed up with a thank you note and checked in with a phone call, all very non-intrusive or pushy. When he was at our home for the estimate, we told him we had other people coming to also do estimates, and he had only professional, nice things to say about one of the companies he was familiar with (which we found impressive). When we did decide to go with his bid, he came again to the house, made sure he had everything ordered exactly as we wanted, adjusted the bid accordingly, and called us the next day to tell us he had ordered our supplies. He was prompt to return phone calls, pleasant and fun to talk to, and a pleasure to work with. He called us when the windows and siding arrived and began work the next day. His team even worked between rain when they could and finished the windows within 2 days. The siding was completed within a week and gutters in a day. All work was completely finished and cleaned up by September 13, 2012. Each team of experts arrived on time, finished before their own deadlines, and were thoughtful and polite. The work is beautiful and they even fixed a loose door hinge on a door they didn't install and hung new house numbers for us. The only additional cost beyond the original estimate was to replace plywood in a spot where it was needed (for about $65). We were pleasantly surprised to find quality work and materials within our budget. It was a pleasure to work with this company! We would highly recommend them to anyone needing this kind of work completed.

Mr. magnussen made several addresses available so I can check out his previous work. He was able to fit me into the schedule within 2 days of calling. he had to work finished in less than half a day. I was not on site wont work was done but after inspecting it in the evening I was very pleased.

We would not hesitate to recommend Magnusson Siding and Windows to anyone who asked. Tom does a good job of training his workers and they know they can call on him if they have a question about how to do something that may be a little unusual. And, you know how an old house like ours has its quirks and uniqueness. Tom makes a good salesperson because he was the installer when he first started and is knowledgeable about materials and installation. You may be able to find someone who will do a cheaper job, but you will get what you pay for, and considering how many windows and how much siding this job entailed, we were satisfied with the price. Then when we saw the quality of the materials and the workmanship, we were glad we had gone with this company.

First off -- Tom Magnusson himself came to give the estimate -- VERY professional -- explained everything about the windows plus left a brochure from the window company. Tom arrived at the scheduled time for the estimate. He gave me a written estimate explaining everything INCLUDING his 10 year labor warranty. He personally called me when the windows were built and set up a date and time for installation. His crew ( son and co-worker) arrived as scheduled and completed the installation in one day. I had 8 windows and a large picture with a smaller window on each side. They also were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. Tom's son explained everything and when I did have a question he explained it and put my mind at ease. Tom Magnusson was a bit more expensive than the other 3 estimates but his professionalism sold me. Two of the three estimates I received were scribbled on a paper tablet -- not even a sheet of paper with company letter head. Tom loves to talk so be prepared -- I would definitely recommend him for your window replacements. Right now, I have another one of his crew putting on siding --- will get back when finished --- rain has been a big factor is this project -- rain one day -- sun the next - then rain and so on.

Tom and his crew did an excellent job -- everything was delivered as promised and on time. Tom spent a great deal of time discussing our options and helping us determine the best product for our needs. He was very flexible with scheduling and was able to complete the project before the holidays. The workers (his sons) were very neat and professional and all work was completed on schedule. We would definitely recommend Magnusson Siding and Windows to anyone looking for a local, professional, and trustworthy company.

They were very nice, hardworking people. There isn't anything that they could improve upon. I was very satisfied with their service.

We were pleased with their work. We had a problem after about a year but they came back to fix it right away. They were efficient, they did their job well, and we were pleased with the price. The owner came across as a bit loud but he is a very nice man.

They're great people. They cleaned up, they showed up on time, and they did what they said they'd do. I like their communication. They let us know when they were coming and they were there when they said they would be. They cleaned up more than what I thought they were going to clean up.

Having worked with them for a lot of jobs, I love using Magnusson. They stand behind their products, so I know if something needs replaced they will take care of it. They are reliable and clean up after themselves.

He is a talkative salesperson but is not a high-pressure salesperson. He is very straightforward. It is a small company; his son and a couple of workers work with him. He has put in 6 windows in my own house. This is the second time I’ve used him here. They are very reputable and on time, and they do quality work. Time runs his company. I’ve worked with a lot of different companies before and he is really online. He is coming back to do work on my house.
