I have no idea how they stay in business, in my experience Energy Home Insulation Inc. is completely incompetent. First, they did not insulate over the garage even though I have a heated garage, the garage was insulated previous to the fire and the insurance company was paying to have the garage insulated. After I called them to come back and finish the job they sent a couple of high school kids who obviously had no idea what they were doing. The insulation was uneven and several inches less than what was over the rest of the house. The didn't put a barrier around the attic door so insulation fell out onto the garage whenever I opened the attic door . Nor did they clean up after themselves, leaving insulation and junk laying all over in the attic, my garage, the driveway and there were even some bags in the lawn. Secondly, they did not put in the correct amount of baffles and the ones they did put in were installed incorrectly. I called them again and they sent another high school kid out to look at the issue. He went up into the attic and came down with some pictures on his phone of three baffles. (According to code and the size of my house there should have been at least 20 baffles installed). I went up to the attic, still couldn't see the baffles. I found out later they had put in too few and had covered most of the rest with insulation. I tried talking to the receptionist (I think her name was Lisa) but she was very rude and dismissive. She said she would discuss the issue with the owner of the company and get back to me. She hasn't gotten back to me yet and I don't expect her to. Truthfully I don't want to have anything to do with that company and wouldn't trust them with anything in my house. I hired a professional insulation company(I will review them separately) to fix the things Energy Home Insulation Inc. screwed up. Needles to say I would not hire Energy Home Insulation Inc. again and would never recommend them. In fact I strongly urge anyone reading this to use the reviews here at Angie's list and find a reputable, professional home insulation company.

The builder of our home paid for this. The people of Energy Home Insulation were great to work with. My fireplace was extremely drafty and ice had built up on the inside of our home, right against the fireplace. EHI insulated the fireplace from the outside and underneath in our basement. They did a great job, have never had any issues with cold drafts from our fireplace and am very happy with the service they performed. Would definitely do business with them again.

Find another insulator!!! We had a pretty terrible experience that has left me enormously frustrated and with little improvement to the house. I should have cancelled the whole process when it was apparanent that the workers were unsure as to what they were supposed to be doing at the house the first time they visited. The second time they came, an employee actually said to my father "Do you know what we're supposed to be doing here, because I have no idea." Mr. Lahood apologized for this unprofessional behavior but chalked it up to it not being his normal crew for this particular work. It was downhill from there. We went over budget, yet realized less than a 50% of the anticipated energy savings. I am attaching the final communications I had with EHS. The first email is mine, the second is the response I received. Dear Lisa, We just received the bill yesterday and I was hoping you could pass this information on to Mr. LaHood. I would call in person, but have trouble calling during business hours. We were fairly surprised to see a balance of $4492.30 on our bill. I will put a check in the mail, but wanted to voice my disappointment with this whole process. I was under the impression that after our last conversation, Mr. LaHood would be contacting me to discuss the reason that our insulation seems to be nearly $1000 over the estimated cost yet delivering only about 1/2 of the energy savings. I know he visited with Todd, yet I never heard a word back from EHI. The bill notes that EHI "was not able to get the dollar amount [estimated for the Ameren ActOnEnergy]. We insulated top of house & bottom of house--but w/o middle numbers came in lower." The "middle" was never discussed as part of the work required to produce the savings discussed. We had everything done that was included in the estimate PLUS another $679 worth of additional work. If it was required to have the middle of the house insulated in order to produce the energy savings- than this should have been included in our estimate. ATC insulators gave us an estimate that was higher than yours because they said that certain things would need to be done in order to produce significant energy savings. Although we felt like this was out of our budget at this point, it allowed us to make an informed decision and I appreciated their honesty. Right now it seems that we just spent a huge chunk of our savings for a job that still requires another big expenditure to be done right. We contacted EHI based on a recommendation from a family friend that had work done almost 20 years ago. Although everyone that came out was extremely nice, the end result has been a disappointment, and not one I would feel good recommending to others. I sent in our payment, but a week later had still not heard back from Mr. Lahood. Finally, I inquired if he had read my email and following is the response I recieved: Oriana, Yes he did [read the email]. Dave wished he could have done more. When he arranged Todd and crew reconnect at your residence he was hoping for better numbers. But I think without completing entire project. We just could not bring the Ameren incentive numbers up as high as hoped. He did comment, when you are ready to complete your project he will do his best to ensure a good honest insulation job and price. (Scott your estimator has just returned vacation, I will let him and Dave know we connected via this email). Herein lies the problem: I wish he would have done good, honest work the first time.
