BCT UNLIMITED

My husband called to inquire about having our leaves and gutters cleaned, some unwanted items removed, grass mowed, trees and bushes trimmed, and the like. The owner showed up promptly the same day (Monday) to give an estimate. He said he had a lot of customers calling him "at the last minute" (end of the fall season), but that he would try to fit us in the next day (Tuesday). He said if they couldn't come Tuesday, they would definitely come Friday morning, the day after Thanksgiving, between 8-9 AM. I was very relieved, because our yard was (and still is) in pretty bad shape, and I wanted to get it cleared up before it snowed. They didn't come Tuesday. Then the owner called Friday morning, a little after 8:00, to say that some family had showed up unexpectedly for Thanksgiving, he wanted to spend some time with them, and he wasn't coming to do our yard. He said we were on the docket for "first thing Monday afternoon." My husband had asked if he could come Saturday, and he said that they don't work weekends. We needed it done before Monday afternoon, and, even more importantly, snow was predicted for Saturday night into Sunday morning. Well, I guess this landscaper doesn't watch the weather forecast, because, sure enough, inches of accumulating snow fell, and we couldn't get the yard done. Worse yet, when my husband called to cancel, saying it was pointless, the guy replied, "Not a problem!" as if WE would be causing HIM a problem by canceling!! He caused us a HUGE problem. Of course, it was a moot point by that time, since you can't do yard work with inches of snow covering the ground. We called around EVERYWHERE after he canceled on us, and couldn't get anyone. One guy was willing to come, but didn't want to rush through his other jobs. I could respect that, though, because he was actually working on Saturday! I agree that we waited until the last minute, but if BCT hadn't canceled on us so unprofessionally, we may have had a chance to get someone else in here. Also, I don't think it is unreasonable for someone to work Thanksgiving weekend. My husband has always had to. For various reasons, we were unable to do it ourselves, and had finally decided to get some help with the yard work. Needless to say, we won't be calling BCT Unlimited next year!
