Bruno's Tuckpointing has been providing masonry restoration throughout Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana for over 30 years. We offer comprehensive masonry evaluation, labor, materials and equipment to commercial, residential and industrial clients. We contacted Bruno's after getting proposals from nearly ten masonry contractors. (Several were listed on Angie's List -two had Angie's coupon offers but refused to honor them, both stating that Angie's had posted the coupons without their knowledge or consent.) Bruno's was referred to us by two different friends who had used them & been happy with their work. The owner, Mike Bruno, was very nice, seemed really honest and showed us many pictures of outstanding work that they had done. He sent a worker (with 25 years experience) out to tuckpoint our single-flue chimney the next business day after we contracted with them. A couple of days later we called them with a small concern and they came out immediately to correct the issue. As we weren't home during this second visit, they called us to make sure we were happy with the additional work (which was done at no additional charge.) Bruno's fees were mid-range price-wise as far as the other proposals we had gotten, but they are perfectionists and will stand behind their work. Mike showed us a picture of a job they had done where they couldn't get brick to match (due to unavailability) and they used WHITE brick, then stained the brick various colors so that it would match perfectly. Very impressive. Anyway, we are very happy with their work and would definitely recommend them to our friends.

Once the tear-off of the old roof started we learned from the roofer that there were significant masonry problems. Our roofer had two preferred subcontractors they used in the past and I asked if they wouldn't mind if we asked Bruno's to also provide us a quote. Dick was able to come out the same day when I called them. Of the three quotes, Bruno's was more than 50% less than the other quotes. Fortunately, Bruno's approach was to leave intact the old bricks that were in good condition, where the other two contractors quotes were based on complete removal of all the old brick regardless of the integrity of the old brick. Bruno's was here the day after the quote, doing the work the next morning, so that the roofing work could continue. We did have a contractor v. contractor concern over leaving the old brick that was easily settled when our roofer decided to call the roofing material mfg who warranties the overall work and he also approved the work that Bruno's was doing. Bruno's even used more brick per the quote they did not charge us for.

I found Bruno's on Angie's List and from their reviews I decided to email them with a request for a quote on my job. I had asked them to call on my cell phone. In less than 15 minutes I received a call from my wife wanting to know when I was going to tell her that we were having a quote done on the house. Glenn Velasquez from Bruno's received the email message from his office and was in the area, so he just stopped by. He was very professional while my wife gave me "expletive" for not telling her he was coming. Glenn was able to get all the info he needed for the quote and I had it 2 days later in writing explaining everything they were to do and the price of $495.00 which I thought was an absolute bargain. Glenn arrived with Steve who preformed the work, at the time that they had promised and finished in less than 2 hours. Please note that this was a small job, but they did an excellent job and I would use them again in a Heart Beat. In fact I gave Glenn 3 leads in my neighborhood where I had spotted the same problem that I was having. Thanks Angie for having this service. I'm sure this job saved me the cost of the membership. Their work seemed to be adequate. It is not something that is easy for me to judge. I know that a lot of people around here use this company which is why I picked them. Overall, I am satisfied with them.
