Ark Porcelain Refinishing Service does superb work with superb workmen. They take care to lay down paper and tape to prevent any spray from touching any other surface than the bath tub, and they neatly clean up afterwards. Their process takes more time to dry as it is only epoxy, not a blend that is less durable, thus, worth the expense. You do get what you pay for!! They arrive as discussed. They are professional, polite, and workmanlike in every phase. Their work is pristine and superb. Our old tub is now a shiny white, smooth and even all over, both inside and outside. The slip-guard covers a large area and needs to be touched to know it's there as it blends in so smoothly. They noted the need for better water flow down the drain and supplied the upgraded drain. Unfortunately, our glass shower door was shattered by one of the workers. Not only did they calmly assume responsibility and pay the difference between the tub refinishing and the cost of the replacement shower door, but they came and put up a temporary new shower rod and shower curtain. (We only needed to get them an estimate for a replacement that was equal to the one replaced. We were glad that we had the 20 year old invoice for the original glass shower door.) Ark came highly recommended and with good reason. They are totally trustworthy and totally interested in delivering a high quality product.

We just bought another investment property and are renovating one of the units. With a 100 year old building, came a 100 year old cast iron tub in very poor shape. We had debates over whether we should salvage the tub or just buy a new one. I went out and obtained a couple quotes and decided to go with ARK even though they were slightly more expensive. I could not be happier with my decision. I am beyond thrilled by ARK's work, as they allowed us to salvage an original cast iron tub! The bathtub looks brand new - I almost couldn't believe it. Everyone at ARK was professional, responsive, ontime, friendly. I will definitely be using them again for other properties.

ARK has done our tub twice, both times a good job we were very satisfied with. Why twice? Well, the first one lasted over 20 years and just got worn down from three children, rough cleaning, things banging into it or being dropped, etc. So when that one needed a redo, unfortunately I did not go with ARK, didn't remember their name, but found another refinisher through Angiie's List, and they were not only pretty cheap ($400) but said that their finish did not require curing, only had to dry overnight. So I went with them. Big mistake! That finish started to fail pretty quickly, after two years patches were peeling up. I didn't even want to have that guy back. (BTW that installer had a heck of a time grinding through the ARK finish to prep for his own.) I dug deeper this time and found ARK, definitely the company we used in 1990 or 91. We were able to schedule the refinish for the day before we left on a trip, then after a week our neighbor let the ARK guy in to do the caulking and non-slip floor. We came home to a very nice looking tub, and the non-slip floor is terrific. A few notes: ARK's finish HAS TO CURE so it may be tricky to schedule, but is worth it. The non-slip floor is great, but if you have babies who'll be in the tub, it may be a little scratchy for them. For your feet, no problem. No more nasty mildew-attracting rubber mats! We got the full service including new drain, caulking, and non slip surface. It is expensive but this is one of those cases where you get what you pay for. It might cost twice as much but our experience is it'll last much more than twice as long! If you're really detail-oriented like me, you may notice tiny specks in the finish. As soon as you put up your shower curtain and start using the tub you'll forget about them. They are inevitable as you can't turn a bathroom into a pristine 'clean room,' though the ARK installer does a really good job of masking off and getting negative air pressure going. The overall impression of the tub is: like new. I gave ARK an A on all ratings, but N/A for price; they are expensive, but worth it, so...what grade is that?

ARK did a fantastic job of refinishing a 1930s cast iron pedestal sink and a vintage cast iron tub. The end result was wonderful - both items look amazing! After the tub refinishing, some of the 'paint' ended up on my new wall tiles (overspray), but he came out the day I called and it was easily fixed. Wonderful customer service and a great job - thank you! I would definitely recommend ARK!

They were very nice. They will do the work on October first.

He was using a product that you didn't have to cure the whole night, you could use it the same day. He showed up, cleaned up the place, did what he had to do and left.

Did a great job! Jim was very helpful, professional, and kind. The guys did a good job on both baths and I will use them again if needed. :) One thing is I would like to see more flexibility with the hours. Thanks!

When I bought my house, I inherited a main bathroom that was pink on every available surface. I finally was able to get it redone and had Jim come out for the estimate and he was extremely helpful. We scheduled a date to have the work done that I had to cancel and re-schedule one month prior and it was done without question. Joe showed up to do the work on time and immediately went to work. Joe got everything done in 3.5 days and my bathroom looks phenomenal. Joe took excellent care of the bathroom, my house and was super clean. When he left, you could hardly tell any work had been done in the bathroom. No smells in the house, it was perfect. I highly recommend Jim and Joe and Ark Refinishing.

It took two visits. The first visit they did some grinding which they charged extra and they refinished the bathtub in white for $475. It took about 3 hours. They covered the bathtub walls with paper so to not paint them and ran a vent to an exterior window for the strong paint smell. The second visit about 5 days later they installed the slip grip & caulk for an additional $90 it took about half an hour. I highly recommend the slip grip because the finish can be slippery when wet. The bathtub looks great. They did a good job.

, Workman did a great job of protecting the rest of the room and the house. As an "organic health nut" I was concerned about fumes for the young mom in the upper unit and me of course as I sat and waited. Really no fumes were smelled until he discontinued the exhausting upon leaving, then the smell was negligible. I left the bathroom exhaust fan on per his instructions until "you feel it is good enough to turn off". The process went quicker than I expected-I had been told one of the advantages of Ark were they use 6-8 coats(other companies said 4-6 coats). The workman said it was about 30 minutes of dry time between coat and that he put on 6 coats. It did seem a bit fast for that. Also another advantage they stated was that paint stripper would not harm their finish-another company was astounded that this could be, but did not say it couldn't be, just surprised. Really when you think about it, I am not sure that 2 more coats of glaze would be an advantage and since I doubt tenants will be stripping furniture in the tub.....well actually....who knows what a tenant may do. The really important advantage is they have experienced workman-I think 11 years was the least experienced. Having said that, we need to give "apprentices" a chance but let the company prove they have been apprenticed and not just turned loose! The tub looks great! There was no mess at all for me to clean up. No overspray. The true test will be of time-this company has been in business a long time and take credit for some tubs being good after 40 years.

My home is a vintage condo and I wasn't interested in removing the existing tub and replacing with a new tub. Ark provided the opportunity to revive an old fixture without the costly work associated with installation of a whole new bath tub. The first step was Jim from Ark provided a written estimate after visiting my bathroom. Following the estimate, the service was scheduled and Virgil came and completed the heat fusion resurfacing for the tub. This involved masking off most of the tub/bathroom area to prevent the resurface material from getting on other parts of the bathroom. Virgil was friendly, completed the work in about an hour and left the space very clean. It takes 7 days for the new surface to set and the tub is unusable for that time period. On the sixth day Ark returned and added a non-skid surface to the base of the tub. The new surface is very slick and the non-skid surface was really important to keeping the tub safe for use. The tub is now back in usable shape and is beautiful! I have already recommmeded Ark to several other people in vintage homes that need a refresher for their tubs.

It went well working with them. I had used them fifteen years before for the same tub and that is why I used them again. I have used them three times in thirty years. They did a very good job. They were always prompt when coming to do the work. The people I have come in contact with have been nice.

They were really easy and agreeable to work with. They are easy to schedule a consultation with. They are really nice, friendly people and are careful with everything they work with. Also one of the gentleman took the time to make sure the bathroom was prepped and protected from any of the refinisher.

They showed up as scheduled and were here for a morning. The guy did a great job, he was neat about it too. He had to scrape off the old horrid peeling paint in order to apply the refnishing coat. We get compliments on it all the time. Some people thought we had a new sink.

HAD SOME SCHEDULING DIFFICULTIES, DUE TO COMPANY CANCELING. HOWEVER, WE WERE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE WORKABLE COMPROMISE. QUALITY OF WORK WAS EXCELLENT. BOTH TECHNICIANS EFFICIENT, FRIENDLY AND TOOK CARE NOT TO CAUSE MESS OR DAMAGE TO SURROUNDING AREAS. BOUGHT HARDWARE FOR CONVENIENCE SAKE, BUT FELT IT WAS OVERPRICED. COULD HAVE DONE BETTER AT BIG BOX STORE.

THE TUB REFINISHING LOOKS VERY NICE. ON THE PLUS SIDE, THE TELEPHONE IS ALWAYS ANSWERED BY A VERY AND HELPFUL PERSON. THEY RESCHEDULED OUR APPOINTMENT THREE TIMES TO ACCOMMODATE OUR REMODELING SCHEDULE. ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE, THE TECHNICIAN WAS TWO HOURS LATE. HE WAS NOT PARTICULARLY CAREFUL WORKING AROUND OTHER PARTS OF OUR NEWLY REMODELED BATHROOM, BUT HE SEEMED VERY SKILLED AT THE TUB REFINISHING. HE WAS KNOWLEDGEABLE, HELPFUL AND CHEERFUL.

THEY DID A NICE JOB & ALWAYS CAME ON TIME.
