WINDY CITY SKYLIGHTS

Installation looked good and appeared to be correct; however, when I tried to clean the window, I found that the screen could not be removed because of how the skylight was installed. After several phone calls and promises to fix the situation, nothing was done. I give up! Beware! Make sure you ask if the installation will allow for the screen to be removed.

Cody came out, nice guy, to look at the job of installing 1 skylight. I was due to receive a quote but never heard from him again. I sent a message and he said I'd have the quote by the end of the day. That day came and went. Now it's 3 weeks later - never heard from this company. The lack of professionalism in not calling back or saying they're too busy is bad business. Or was it that my 1 skylight wasn't enough work for them? I read the similar reviews but thought perhaps things changed. Not a chance. I mean, why bother coming to begin with?

My only complaint is with setting up the schedule and lack of follow-up. The person who was to install our skylights left the company and we were never informed nor were we rescheduled with another installer until I made a call to inquire why no one was was contacting us. But once we got a date, everything was done very professionally and Chad did a fabulous job from install to clean-up. Love the end product.

Went great. Cody was flexible and nice to work with getting our estimate. Mike and the team were responsive to my texts and did a great job. We added 3 new skylights to one room and a solar tube to another room. Installation looks solid, like they've always been there. Price was right and they completed the entire job from start to finish, with no other trades required.

The team arrived early and were couteous, advised us of what was going on, covered furniture with plastic, did a very good job of installing inside and out, set up the remote controls for the shades and showed us how to use them. A pleasure to do business with this company. Mike who came out to assess the situation and provide a quote spent much time with me reviewing options available. Once we had agreed on the replacement skylight and work that would be needed I promptly received a quote within about 2 business days. The serviceman/installer (sorry, I'm bad with names and it isn't noted on the receipt) was excellent. I had already removed things from the room and covered everything else. He still wanted to cover things with plastic. The work went smoothly and the installation is beautiful. He was very efficient, very professional, and I just could not be more pleased.

The crew was very professional - did great job cleaning up. You can’t tell that the roof was replaced in areas or that the skylights were changed. Very nice job.

We are pleased with the work done on replacing two 30+ year old sky lights that were leaking bad. They cleaned up the inside and outside of our home after the work was finished. I would recommend them. Their cost was competitive with the two other bids we received.

I looked for a few years before deciding on Windy City Skylites. It was worth the wait. They immediately knew what replacement skylites would be necessary for this job. I am very pleased with the new skylites because they are not only beautiful, but well insulated. This company's entire business is installing Skylites, and it shows. They know their stuff. I found Windy City Skylites on Angies List, and was able to apply my Senior coupon. Make sure your coupon has been applied to the total before paying in full. Otherwise, it may be one more of life's complications.

Sales staff was very professional and work was done in a timely manner. Workers set up dust walls to limit dust and project took two days as promised and turned out great.

They did an excellent job. Great to deal with and did the job within the predicted time frame. Would hire again.

Our installer was also excellent and made certain the skylights were water tight and looked beautiful, too. Windy City Skylight was great about scheduling the initial estimate visit and then the installation in a timely and convenient manner. The price was extremely reasonable, the installation efficient, and the new skylight looks great. A few weeks later, though, we had severe leaking. Although it took a while to get a call back, the company honored their guarantee and sent someone to come out and correct the problem. A few months later, we have had no further leaks and are very pleased. We would definitely recommend Windy City Skylight to others based on the quality of their work and being a company that keeps their word.

From the estimate to installation and clean-up, everyone who entered our house was very professional. We were able to look at pictures of exactly what would be installed. All questions were answered. We were very satisfied and highly recommend this company.

Arrived a little late, did not prep for mess inside the house when replacing the skylights, did not pick up after themselves.

Work was completed beyond my expectations. Sales Rep. Cody was very professional and very well informed about the product he was selling. Everyone who answered my questions at the Downers Grove, IL office were also very accommodating, including the Manager.

Cody came out, viewed the inside condition and then went up to the roof. Checked the flashing, shingles and skylight and said they were all in great shape. He believes the water drips may be coming from condensation occurring inside my attic. Appreciated the honesty as he had the opportunity to suggest repair or replacement but did not do so. A less than honest company would have suggested some work. No charge for the inspection. I will definitely use them in the future for when the time inevitably comes to replace one or both of my units. Cody is an excellent rep for the company.

The work done by Windy City was good, the price was favorable compared to another bid, and all the people I dealt with were polite, professional and responsive. (And I trust there will be no leaks as winter sets in!) So I'd give these important aspects of the work an "A". The reason I gave Windy City a "B" overall is they need to improve their followup and communication. I had to call them repeatedly to schedule follow-up appointments because they didn't call me; they forgot to bring the required 40 foot ladder TWICE after I highlighted this on the phone before the appointments; and I had to tell the installation technicians about details of the job (e.g. installing new trim in the light well) because the salespeople had not communicated this as they should have. So, their work and price is good, I would use them again...but I hope they will improve in followup and communication.

Initially, good experience - received estimate and had couple of discussions to clarify. I then asked to get details on replacement of additional skylights - have called at least three times - and twice I actually got the estimator who said he would call back on reaching the office. Never heard back - the business was theirs to lose - disappointing. I guess it must be busy season for them. UPDATE: I did receive a call from Cody - very professional indeed - I appreciate his prompt follow up after my initial review. I will probably use Windy City in the future when my other skylights need to be changed, purely because of Cody's outreach - he was very sincere and I think it speaks for the company as well.

I asked for bids from three providers. Windy City was the low bidder, but its bid was close to another bid. Salesman was thoughtful, and suggested the blinds because those sky lights were in the living room. He observed it would cut the glare. After receiving the bid, I had further questions and the sales person (Tom) was patient in answering them. Order took about 6 weeks to get in (order date to install). The installers (Tim and Johnny) were neat, efficient, very hard workers, and pleasant. They seemed to really know what they were doing. Job took about 4 hours on a very hot day. Price is after the 5% Angie's List discount. It has not rained yet, so I have not had a rain test, but there is no reason to believe there would be any leaking. (It has rained, but there were NO leaks!!) I am very pleased with this firm, and also think Velux has made some nice design changes since my old skylights were installed by us over 18 years ago.

The sales representative that we first had contact with was very nice, knowledgable and not high pressure at all. The installer Cody was excellent. Very polite! Unfortunately, there was a defect in one window and a technician had to be called out to handle it. However, it was handled quickly and everyone was extremely pleasant to work with.

I contacted Windy City regarding 25-year old skylights when I realized that the seals were getting too old to keep excess moisture out. The sales rep came out promptly and was very professional and courteous in assessing my needs.Unfortunately, all four were in equally bad condition so I decided to get the entire job done at the same time. The company sent 2 installers and they did an excellent job despite some pretty cold weather. The guys were meticulous and respectful leaving my home clean and in great shape. All skylights were professionally mounted and look fabulous! In addition to the moisture problem, my old skylights had gotten cloudy - my new skylights are crystal clear once again allowing a beautiful view of the sky. I did get blinds for each skylight as well so that in summer, I can block out the very intense sunlight that was undesirable at high noon. I am extremely happy with the outcome of this home improvement project!

The 2 guys were unprofessional at first as they were trying to figure out how to get the skylight crane in place. Though the skylight was installed it was not thoroughly waterproofed and damage to the interior walls was done. Though I sent photos and called and emailed numerous times over 2 months I never got a response. Stay away from these guys.
