We just moved into a new house with a fireplace that needed to be cleaned. Al took his time to clean and inspect the fireplace and chimney. The before and after of the interior of the fireplace was amazing. Al also noticed a small crack within the masonry in which he sealed and repaired at no additional charge. He was also extremely knowledgeable and able to able to answer all of our questions regarding some upgrades to the fireplace that we'd like to do in the future. We'll definitely use Al and Soot Yourself for future fireplace and chimney sweeps.

Soot Yourself was on time, very professional and friendly. It also gave me some piece of mind that an off duty fireman was checking out my fireplaces. Al came out and inspected our 3 fireplaces (2 gas and 1 wood burning). He cleaned up after himself and didn't try to upsell me on services that weren't necessary. This was very important to me since a different service provider had been out for an estimate and tried to tell me that each fireplace needed to be cleaned and they needed an exotic ladder setup (which translated to more money). Al was very informative and answered my questions about how to properly care for my fireplaces and I will definitely have them out each year to inspect/clean what is needed. I gave them a B on responsiveness only because I did have to call a few times initially to get the appointment setup. However, I later learned there was a personal emergency and every interaction after that was prompt and professional. Overall, I felt very happy with their service and feel it is safe to use my fireplaces in our new home!

Al was punctual, worked cleanly, and left my fireplace much cleaner than other sweeps have left it. He has a nice demeanor and worked quickly and thoroughly. By the way, ladies, his wife Pattie takes calls for their business and is very sweet. I am telling you this for the very reason that this is a family-owned business who will treat male and female clients alike. I felt very confident with their pricing (my price reflects an Angie's List coupon), and their were no brochures or upselling. I also felt very confident in their work around fireplaces because they exclusively hire fire personnel. You are not going to get some pimply kid straight out of brochure-reading-chimney-upsell training class to do the work. You are getting sweeps who know firsthand the importance of fire hazard in home fireplaces, AND have extensive experience with fire and fire safety. Once Al was done with the inside of my fireplace, he also cleaned the outside! No sweep has ever done that! He cleaned the glass, inside and out, and brushed the mesh doors. All in all I would definitely recommend Soot Yourself to anyone with a chimney! Thanks again, Pattie and Al! I will call you for all future sweeps!

Arrived right on time. I was given a description of the vehicle, the name of the serviceman, along with a brief description when I phoned for the appointment. I was quoted a price on the phone that reflected the 10% off coupon provided by Angie's List, however, was told the chimney did not need cleaning and was charged just $50.00 for the service call. I could not be happier. And we will be using Soot Yourself Chimney Service Inc., in the future. Many thanks

I called to have my fireplaces in our recently purchased home inspected and cleaned. Al was on time and professional. He evaluated our basement fireplace that has gas logs and said it did not need cleaning. It has been 13 years since we have had a wood-burning fireplace and Al answered my many questions. I had noticed that the firebox had mortar missing and he performed the repair at no charge because he said it was minor. He cleaned the family room fireplace and suggested installing the gas system for starting the wood. Being new to the area, he gave me referrals for buying wood and a local fireplace store. We will definitely use Soot Yourself again.

Quick and easy, made me felt comfortable and performed what I needed and like others I have called before, didn't try selling me on extras or do a pressure sale.

Al is a fireman who does this on his time off. He was on time, polite, and I asked him some safety questions and he gave me a lot of good information and recommendations A+++++++!

I initially called because all of the work is done by off-duty frie fighters. Called on Monday to have someone come out, they were there on Wednesday. Skilled, professional, and very polite. Thay are very customer oriented. I would recomend them highly to anyone looking for chimney work.

The first time was in 2010 when I called them about a problem my mother was having with her brick chimney flaking and efflorescing in her attic. She had had three differently tuckpointers out to tuck point the chimney on the inside as well as above the roof. All to no avail. I called Soot Yourself to have the chimney inspected to see if they could find out how much damage had been done. They said her problem was that when her new high efficiency furnace was installed a liner was not put into the chimney and the moisture from the furnace exhaust was causing the brick to effloresce and flake. He installed a liner and over the past year the brick has dried out. Nobody else had been able to identify the problem. I used them again at my mother's house in November 2011 to replace some brick on the chimney above the roof that they had pointed out when they put in the liner. I then used them in my own house in December 2011 to convert my gas start wood burning fireplace to a gas log system. Their prices are fair, they are knowledgeable and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Patty, the front office and scheduler is a delight to talk with. She is very polite and accomodating to our needs. Al (the cleaner) is a fireman and has been doing our chimney for about 7 years now. He is alway punctual, polite, and a pleasure to welcome in to our home to provide this service. He is very infomative and is extremely thorough in his work. A couple years ago we had a lock-top damper installed and that was done very well. He provides regular maintenance on the damper with each cleaning. I have recommended him for serveral people looking for a chimney person and feel 100% comfortable recommending Soot Yourself to anybody.

He was really informative. They are credible and gave me lots of tips and pointers. They wore covers on their feet and cleaned up very well. They told me everything I could think of and gave me references. They were real nice, on time, and the price was reasonable.

I was very happy with Soot Yourself. They are a professional company who are HONEST and RELIABLE! They did not try to charge me for a cleaning, once they recognized that it was not necessary. He provided me with options and related pricing during the initial visit. During the installation, he answered all my questions and gave me a demonstration of the new log lighter. Their knowledge and skill was definitely clear to me. I would highly recommend them!!

Good response in initial call and scheduled appt. for 1 week later to pull insert, check it and clean chimney and caulk the crown of chimney where there were some cracks. The two guys came early for the appt. and I informed there is a partial liner on the insert & that the liner would be ruined if they pulled the insert out. It has been several years ago but I thought at my last chimney cleaning the insert was removed and returned w/o any problems. The guys were very fast (too fast?) and left soot on the carpet by the fireplace. I told them there is a strong residual odor after using the fireplace and they said that the cleaning would take care of it. I know it has to do with the draft,t not cleaning. Now there is "gunk" sitting on top of the insert that may give off the same or another odor. No "real time" checking of the draft. Disappointing overall. I expected better.

They were excellent and I highly recommend them. Not only did they do the chimney sweep but they checked the ash pit. They gave me pointers for usage and fire safety tips. One of the most impressive things is that it is a fireman and his friend that do this business, there are no unknown technicians (or thugs) that come to your house. They are a quality small company. For safety and a value in addition to the service you need they are the best company I can think of.

They don't specialize in pre-fab chimneys. However, Patty was VERY helpful in locating someone that could do the work for me. I was very pleased!

After three phone messages left, we still haven't heard from these folks. Despite the other positive ratings, it seems that we will never know if this is a good company or not. If they were that busy, it would have been nice to be told ''we are really busy, but thank you for calling''. Instead, we got nothing. It's a shame, because we have quite a bit of work that needs to be done. However, we have moved on. Oh well.

The person who answered the phone and scheduled the appointment when I initially called was refreshingly polite and efficient. The representative who came to the house was an off-duty fireman. He was knowledgeable and very thorough in his evaluation of our fireplace's/chimney's safety. He found that our chimney needed to be cleaned, which didn't surprise me since it probably hadn't EVER been cleaned in the 13 years since the house was built. He placed a dropcloth over the area surrounding the fireplace and was careful to keep the area clean. He pointed out that the fireplace doors we had installed from a local fireplace store were not meant for our type of fireplace and that we needed to be careful to not close the doors when there is a hot fire so that the glass does not overheat. I appreciated this knowledge as I have small children and safety is my main priority. I would recommend Soot Yourself to all my best friends. Great company.

VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS SERVICE. REP ON THE PHONE CALLED THE NIGHT BEFORE TO TELL ME WHAT TO EXPECT AND WHO TO EXPECT AT MY DOOR. EVEN DESCRIBED THE VAN, SO THERE WOULD BE NO QUESTION. THE GENTLEMAN WHO CAME OUT WAS FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL, AND TOOK HIS SHOES OFF AT THE FRONT DOOR WITHOUT BEING ASKED. HE DID A FINE JOB ON THE CHIMNEY AND OUR FIREPLACE AND DRYER VENT.

WONDERFUL! AL WAS VERY FRIENDLY, HELPFUL, AND EVEN EARLY FOR THE APPOINTMENT!
