Turns out the flue was not as dirty as we thought...because we rarely use the fireplace. Al did discover, however, a safety concern with the chimey flue...one that could cause a house fire if we did use the fireplace! He wrapped the chimney cap to ensure no animals could get into the flue and provided information on options for repairs along with names and numbers of reputable contractors who perform the type of work needed. From the first phone call to Soot Yourself, the interaction, professionalism and service provided was exceptional! Would absolutely recommend and use again! In fact, I wouldn't even call anyone else!

Everything about working with Soot Yourself was a pleasant experience! The woman who scheduled the appointment was one of the nicest administrators I've dealt with in all of my home service needs. The company is comprised of off-duty firefighters and the one who serviced our fireplace, Al, was extremely personable and a straight shooter - we'd previously been told that we needed a new chimney liner (to the tune of $4000) and he was able to assure us that our liner was fine and in good working condition. He was punctual, clean and courteous.

This company was wonderful to work with. They returned my initial call promptly, scheduled my job within a reasonable amount of time, and showed up precisely when they said they would. Al was professional, courteous, and answered all my questions completely. Not a speck of soot left behind. I will definitely rehire them again.

During a home inspection prior to closing on the sale of our house, the inspector found some tuck pointing that needed to be done. Soot Yourself was able to come out within a couple of days. The mason gave me a good explanation of what he intended to do. He gave me an estimate and was able to do the work immediately. He even found some old bricks around the house, so he was able to replace broken bricks and it looked the same as the rest of the chimney. We were very pleased with their speed of response, and the thoroughness of the work.

We would recommend this company. The technician was very helpful and informative. We had just moved into the house this summer and we were not familiar with chimney care and maintenance. The tech explained our system, what to expect, what to look out for and how often to call then for maintenance (which we were pleasantly surprised that was not annually because it is a gas chimney). We feel this company was a great value and resource.

Just cannot get better service and politeness starting with Patti scheduling to Al's very careful and detailed work. As a Naperville Fireman Al takes safety of the chimney very seriously to where he even checked our fire extinguisher location and charge. He was thorough and very clean. Good feeling knowing you can enjoy your fireplace safely.

Al had come the week before to clean ourchimney. He kept the area very clean so there was nothing I had to do after he finished. He provided lots of advice about how to determine the airflow in the house, how to convert the wood burning fireplace to a gas one and what the differences are between the different type of chimney caps. We needed a chimney cap and he came out the next week to install it. He is very personable, professional and thorough. I highly recommend this provider.

The visit was great! Scheduling was easy, they were clear about when they'd arrive, the marked vehicle they'd be driving. The guy showed up, checked out the fireplace & chimney (to the great delight of my 2 1/2 year old), showed me how to use it, and was helpful, courteous and professional throughout. I was extremely happy with the service.

My chimney area was damaged so I contacted them on a Saturday to schedule an estimate, they called me back on Sunday and came out for an estimate on Monday, and they called me on Monday night with what they found! Unfortunately, it turns out the type of chimney I have is not masonry, so it is not the type of service they provide, but the person who called was very friendly and patient (answered all my questions) and recommended the type of contractor I should contact. I am very impressed by their professionalism and responsiveness, will definitely recommend them to others!

They were excellent. A's all the way. They were very reasonable so they charged about $150.
