,We called Lucy to give us an estimate of what our home would need to prepare it for sale and find out what it could be listed at price wise. On the phone, Lucy has a very pleasant and energetic manner. She was willing to come and give us suggestions and and estimate of our home's value. She was on time for the appointment and came with an associate, prepared with "comparable" sales prices in our area for homes with a similar square footage, etc. Once she was in our home she appeared very surprised at the actual space and condition of the home. Because of a large addition, it did not compare to the "comps" she brought along. She and her associate looked through their computer with us for other homes in our area, (beyond our subdivision) that might be comparable. Although they were both professional in dress and manner, what my husband and I found lacking was any attempt on their part to develop a relationship with us. They were not "curious" about us, our motivations for getting the estimate, what we liked about the home, its history, etc. When they left, we felt no real connection with them. We are particularly sensitive to the relationship and trust development piece because both of us practice that in our businesses and teach it as consultants. Selling a home is more than just a transaction. It is personal. People will be going through looking at the spaces in which you live, giving feedback, hopefully eventually negotiating a price. I want to know that my Realtor has taken the time to know us a bit, to know how to communicate constructive feedback from prospective buyers with directness and sensitivity, to demonstrate a desire to work hard and smart to sell the house, and to know the Realtor "has our back" during the process.

As far as I can tell she is doing everything right. It?s just that the market isn?t the most favorable now. She is very proactive and had listened to everything that we?d asked her to do. She has provided suggestions and has generally done a really good job of getting our house out there in the market.
