Description of Work: We have used Bernie for several jobs around the house. He is the ultimate professional. If it's something that is not his expertise, he tells you and may also offer a referral. He has done the following jobs for use: replaced front screen door, installed several ceiling fans, assembled large weber grill, installed large window shades, shimmed and rehung interior doors that would not close, etc. Recently, we asked him about repairing a trellis. He came out, looked at the job and told us that he would gladly do the work, but he didn't believe it was worth our investment of money. He thought a new trellis would be better use of our money. We like Bernie because besides being the ultimate professional (neat, punctual, knowledgeable, he is also honest and stands by his work. In addition, he has done work at my mother's home: He removed the basement staircase so that a crack in the basement wall could be fixed. He then reinstalled the steps. You would never know the stairs had been taken out and reinstalled.

Description of Work: Bernie was really amazing. He spent a lot of time talking with me about the misc. work that I needed to have done. He is immensely knowledgeable. He educated me about finding the right people for the work I need done and offered to help out as needed but explained that I could easily find a drywall person to complete this work for less than what he would charge. He gave me plenty of advice for future jobs we are planning as well. I will hire him when I have the right job to fit his skills.

 + -1 moreBernie arrives on time and is very polite. He is careful, knowledgeable, and attentive to detail. The only downside, for some of us, is that he prefers to work on newer houses, which I suppose puts him in the same category as every other handyman. In spite of that, though, I have found him to be creative and persistently cheerful, regardless of the difficulty of the project.
Description of Work: Bernie has done a variety of work here, related to several rehabbing projects that needed a professional's touch to be completed. He has repaired/replaced baseboard and trim, installed a chandelier and other lighting, cleaned a shower exhaust fan, repaired doorbells and shutters, and installed curtain rods in inaccessible (to me) places.

HE IS VERY REASONABLY PRICED (CURRENTLY $45/HR) AND WHILE HE IS AT MY HOUSE, IF HE SEES SOMETHING WRONG, HE WILL POINT IT OUT AND EXPLAIN HOW IT CAN BE FIXED, LETTING ME KNOW IF IT IS IN MY BEST INTEREST TO PAY HIM TO DO IT OR TO DO IT MYSELF. HE ALWAYS CLEANS UP AFTER HIMSELF, WHICH I CONSIDER ESSENTIAL. I GAVE HIM AN INACCURATE CODE FOR OUR ALARM SYSTEM, THUS CAUSING HIM TO DEAL WITH THE POLICE DEPT. AND EVERYTHING ELSE, AND HE HANDLED IT WELL AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME ANY EXTRA TIME FOR IT!
