My interior designer had a discount through Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. I had done a ton of research and knew what I was looking for cosmetically, but I am not a plumber. I stopped into Ferguson and the receptionist greeted me. I told her what I was looking for and had received an online quote through my interior designer. She called a consultant and he showed me the items in the showroom. We went through what I was looking for and had some helpful input regarding the faucet and explained all the other "in the wall" items I would need. I ordered the items. The pricing was reasonable. All the items except one valve was delivered as expected. The valve was not in stock as indicated by the consultant. I called the consultant and he was very professional. He said he would look into it and call me back. Long story short, he had the valve delivered by the time I needed it installed. The contractor said all the fixtures were exactly what I needed and in perfect shape. I haven't had any issues with the fixtures since the renovation.

I went to Ferguson's on a Thursday afternoon. Besides me, there was one other couple in the store shopping. The receptionist greeted and asked me if there was anything in particular I was looking for. I told her appliances - Wolf Ranges and other Electrolux appliances. After walking around the showroom, I had some questions on products and pricing. I asked the receptionist whether the sticker discount is the price or whether there would be an additional discount if I purchase 4-5+ pieces of appliance. She answered no and quickly turned away. When I asked her an additional question on an Electrolux over the stove microwave/convection oven, she said she would get a consultant to help me. After 15 minutes, no consultant came and I was left standing by the door of the showroom. I can understand if it was a Saturday and it was busy, but it was a Thursday afternoon with no customers! I guess my $10-$15K worth of purchase is not big enough for them to help me.

Steve knew we have many (6) small kids in our household, because my wife had the kids with her on at least one visit to the showroom. Steve sold my wife a jetted tub for the kids? bathroom. Using that tub with a shower in it has resulted in the jet pockets collecting standing water and causing mold to grow. In addition, the tub we were sold is defective. The rim of the tub slopes toward the wall and collects water between the tub and the tile wall, causing yet more standing water and pink mold. The tub simply will not drain. On a later date, Steve Hadar came out to our house to view the tub. He was accompanied by Jeff Dyer. They took pictures of the tub and then contacted the manufacturer. Jeff said the manufacturer said the tub was not defective and that the installer is to blame for the water collecting on the side of the tub. Dyer and Hadar told me it is not uncommon to furnish bathrooms in new homes with spray handles only, but they couldn?t tell me why I am better off by not having a regular shower head, with a spray handle as an extra feature. Hadar informed my wife, after the fact, that our builder (Curtiss) had told him our project was a ?basic job.? Perhaps we (unknowingly) saved some money by going without a shower head, but cutting corners on the plumbing fixtures in our home was a terrible idea that we never approved. Leaving out shower heads in two bathrooms used by a household of eight to save money was not something we or anyone would do, and it made no sense that Steve Hadar or the builder, Kevin Curtiss would do that here. The plumber came out and looked at the tub. He said the tub was installed level and the tub is defective. Our builder, Kevin Curtiss, has never viewed the tub personally. He sat in his car while the plumber came inside the house to look at the problem. I later received an email from Kevin Curtiss indicating the tub is defective and the installation was improper. Curtiss also accused us of damaging the tub after taking possession of the home. The tub is not damaged; it simply does not drain, so I don?t know what Curtiss is talking about. After many discussions and emails, Jeff Dyer agreed to replace the defective tub. At that point, I was prepared to accept this as a resolution of all my complaints regarding Ferguson. For simplicity sake, we decided to accept an exact replacement, jets and all. Curtiss, however, refused to proceed with the work unless I agreed to pay to repair the tile after the tub was replaced. The plumber, Slavko Pasic, told me he would tear out the old tub and install the new tub for free, and he told me he would recommend a tile installer to fix the shower walls. I informed Jeff Dyer and Steve Hadar of the situation with Curtiss. I asked them if they would furnish a replacement tub, even if Curtiss continued to flake on the home warranty. Through emails and telephone discussions, Dyer and Hadar said they would. On the day the tub was supposed to be delivered, I took the day off but the Ferguson truck no showed. I called Ferguson to check on the status of our delivery, but Hadar wasn?t available to take my call. The next day, I received an email from Jeff Dyer saying Kevin Curtiss had contacted Ferguson and instructed Ferguson NOT to deliver the tub. Dyer went on to say I should work things out with Curtiss, but since Curtiss is refusing to honor his warranty on the home, I am left with no option but to bring in another contractor to fix the all of our bathroom problems and seek reimbursement later.
Description of Work: My wife and I built a new house in suburban Chicago and moved in February, 2010. We purchased all of our plumbing fixtures from Ferguson at the recommendation of our builder, Kevin Curtiss d/b/a RKD Homes, LLC and Curtiss Custom Homes, LLC. My wife worked with a Ferguson salesman, Steve Hadar, to pick out styles, finishes and colors. I travel a lot for work, so I relied upon Steve to help my wife in making these decisions. It wasn’t until after we took possession of our new home that we discovered all of the problems with the plumbing fixtures sold to us by Ferguson.
