Blue Sky did a great job on the complete tear-off and installation of a new shingle roof on a SFR. They also did some gutter work. it was a great process and done efficiently. We took 3 bids and Blue Sky was competitive - very closely grouped bids. Blue Sky was the most professional and responsive.

This was a very quick and timely job! All contractors were extremely professional and the calendar and permitting went very quickly. Working with Blue Sky was great. The price was a little on the high end of the estimates received, but we were pretty happy with the final work. We are having a slight issue with our side door closing, but given the recent record breaking cold winter, I think this is a minor issue that we may not even need to call Blue Sky for. Overall, would recommend!

The good: Blue Sky was competitive on price, and we trusted their ability to do a quality job. We worked with Dan LaSage, who seemed quite knowledgeable and was generally easy to reach. The bad: Blue Sky was unable to complete the work within a reasonable timeframe, which led to frustration and, eventually, cancellation of the contract. We signed a contract with Blue Sky with the understanding that the work (a 1-day job) was to be completed with a week. There were some weather-related delays -- which we understood -- but each week started with the same promise of completion. After 3 1/2 weeks, we requested a firm repair date, which Blue Sky was unable to provide. At this point, we cancelled the contract, and Blue Sky returned our deposit. (A competitor then completed the work within 4 business days.)

Good ..Scott gave me options of what could be done with quotes. Mike came out with his crew and did a professional job. They completed the job in one day as was planned. It looks good and worth the investment.

Overall, crews were punctual, professional, and very efficient (demolition, concrete, carpenter, and electric). Dan LaSage, the salesman and contact person throughout, was especially responsive and helpful. A fairly serious mistake was made when, at the last minute, the placement of the foundation was shifted 6 inches from the original plan. We liked the idea because it moved the building a little further from a sidewalk. However, the concrete contractor misjudged its proximity to a tree. The result was that the tree had to be removed. Oddly, the carpenters finished construction with the eave just a couple inches from the tree, without room for the gutter. It was disconcerting that the first solution that was offered was to notch the eave to fit around the tree, a solution we rejected as makeshift and as possibly only a temporary fix, given expected growth of the tree. Blue Sky (Dan) acknowledged the mistake without hesitation, and admitted that the concrete contractor did not have the authority to deviate from the plan without consulting the project manager. They covered the cost of the tree removal. Fortunately, the tree was a mulberry tree and we weren't sorry to see it go. We would have been quite unhappy, however, if it had been a tree that we wanted to keep. The garage itself is fine and we're happy with it. And again, we credit Dan LaSage for his availability and responsiveness and for bringing the project to a satisfactory finish.

They were prompt and efficient. The key thing there was the emergency release cord detached and the trolley broke off so I wasn't able to use the garage door opener. In terms of addressing the problem of being able to use the garage door opener, they fixed that. The only thing is that they didn't install the emergency release cord so I had to call them back for that. But, they were pretty good, they came back the next day and put in the emergency release cord.

Very happy with all aspects of the process.

Got three estimates that were all close but selected another contractor who had built one a couple of blocks away. Would consider this contractor again if I needed another garage.

It turned out very well. The price was reasonable for the door and installation. I will use them again. They're definitely good. Their service and salespeople stood out out to me, as well as the fact that they got the job done right away. No problems. They were here when they said they would be and had the job done in a few hours.

On time,courteous. Work done on timeline as promised.

We're very happy with the work and responsiveness. I called Blue Sky at 9am and the door was fixed by 11am. Based on my description of the symptoms they correctly diagnosed the problem as a broken drive gear.

All went well. They helped us position the garage to make best use of the space. All was one on schedule.

Scott Wendell, owner, was very professional and cooperative in all stages of this project. He virtually took control of all phases of the work and scheduled the construction to best meet our needs. The quality of his contractor's work was excellent. We are very pleased with the outcome. Neighbors are also happy with the appearance of the shed ... they refer to the shed as a "guest house" in their comments.

We contacted Rick Newtoff, Blue Sky Builders on 9/11/2010 to build a custom 1 car garage for us. We were instructed by Rick Newtoff not to oversee the Electrician, as a courtesy we did not and this is where things fell apart. When Blue Sky brought electric into our home they drilled next to and the main support of the home. This required an Engineering assessment and remedy along with an Architect assessment and remedy. This repair is estimated at $3,500. The electric trench sat open at the foundation for 3 months. On 3/3/11 Peter, Nova Electric (Blue Sky Sub) arrived to backfill the opening. Using a weed burner (large flame thrower) next to our foundation. This caused the crawlspace to catch on fire. Fire totaled the kitchen and smoke damaged everything in our home. Most of our home is currently being rebuilt. The home damage and expenses now exceed $100k. Everything in our home was smoke damaged and every room all the way to the attic. To add insult to injury we just received notice from BlueSky Builders that they have placed a lien on our home for the final payment. We should mention that the garage framing, concrete and electric all failed electric. We have been living in a Hotel room for 4 month’s now and anticipate another 8 months out of the house while the fire and smoke damage are repaired. We should have paid extremely close attention to the completed contract, take the days the state allows to go home and review it. Rick Newtoff omitted items we were not familiar with and then wanted to up charge us. Thoroughly review the back of the contract.

They were prompt. They answered all of our questions. They did a good job.

They were very excellent. They were very flexible, adapted and paid a great deal of attention to our need. They listen to us. They were dependable and capable of caring out our wishes for this project. Their patience was top notch. They were very careful to make sure the addition blended flawlessly with the original home. Their pricing for all the work was very fair and the quality was very high! I would recommend them to others.

It cost $800 including some miscellaneous work like corking. My interaction with them overall was very satisfactory as everything was done right and promptly. The door has been fine so far. There were no complaints or issues. They did the job as I wanted. Their price wasn't like it was a steal.

Work was very good, efficient. Everything was carefully aligned, leveled, and flashed. Mike was very helpful and communicative, not pushy. Very nice working with him. There were two unexpected delays that were out of anyone's control and both were handled properly and professionally.

The old garage needed a major update. Scott helped me understand all the options, including a tear-down, with no pressure whatsoever. The chosen solution, to refurbish, turned it into a very different looking garage. They worked to accomodate my schedule. Bruce the foreman took time to explain anything I wanted to know about how the work would be performed, and then fixed a few minor cleanup issues. A very professional team, but very nice to work with. If only they did more than garages!

All the various crews - demolition/removal material delivery concrete work garage builders electrician contractor contact man showed up on time as scheduled. They answered all of my questions politely and completely. When I called Brian (Blue Sky Builders go-to man for my job), I received prompt answers/work progress guidance. He made multiple visits to the jobsite to ensure work was progressing on schedule. Workers kept the worksite clean and safe. Work was performed incredibly fast but thoroughly and solidly. My father was a carpenter and if he were alive today to see the new garage, I know he would be impressed at the qualiy of workmanship. There was no "goofing around on the job". Everyone had their job operation to perform and they got 'er done! Any changes I had requested were cared for immediately. Finally, after getting quotes from two other companies, I chose Blue Sky Builders, not only because the price was right (comparable), but I felt they listened to me better and I know they have been a good local business since 1979

This was one of the companies we contacted to replace garage doors for a Downers Grove area condominium. The information and contact were prompt and professional. We choose not to use Blue Sky Builders because we found another company with an equally good reputation at a cheaper price.

Super professional, even any of the sub-contractors and delivery men have been very respectable. They're a little expensive, but the price was in the same range as other quotes received. It's very well constructed, and everything has gone on schedule. It's taken longer than anticipated, but that seems to be due to waiting for the village to do inspections and give permits. I'd definitely recommend them! They were the most courteous contractors I spoke with.

They were amazing. They came in, poured the foundation, and put up the garage all in about 3 days. They did excellent work. We got exactly what we paid for. They left the place clean. I was very happy with them. They were the least expensive. They did a pretty good job. I am happy with the quality. I have had it for 3 years with no problems. They were very responsive. They were very punctual and were right here when they said they would be here.

I would not hire them again. We obtained 2 other quotes and gave the order on Rick's initial visit based on their reputation and quote. We were led to believe that our Village had a several month wait to obtain permits. We have had several other permits pulled for our house, rather than detached structures, and all have been obtained the day of visit. We specifically requested the concrete pad in front of the pedestrian door be pitched so water will drain; it was pitched the wrong way and now puddles every time it rains, so you have to walk through water to get into the garage when raining. The electrician spoke no English. He broke the lock in our crawlspace to access the feed, rather than asking us to open it. He was also incompetent because he twice said he was done and we tripped the circuit breaker when we tried to open the overhead door after he left. The electrical inspection had to be postponed till this was resolved by another individual that spoke very little English. They never could figure out that we wanted the motion sensor for an outside light on a switch. These communications issues could have been resolved with a project manager that was on site. We never saw the person I was told was the pm. The door knob installed broke about a year after it was installed. When construction was to begin, they did show up on time and it was finished in a week or week and a half.
