We got 4 estimates and we selected Berg because we were convinced they understood the problems they might encounter and would do a proper job. Dan made a thorough review of the existing cedar and stucco panel siding. He suggested what the problem areas might be and how they would be handled. He reviewed the pros and cons of the various options we had. We decided to get the insulated vinyl siding, aluminum fascia with upgraded aluminum soffits, and new gutters. The work started on time. We were in contact every day to discuss any issues that came up. The workmanship was at a very high level. The entire job took 3.5 days. There were no outstanding issues after the job was completed. Our house looks beautiful now and we are glad we picked Berg Roofing. They were easy to work with and they had the experience to handle anything that came up. We highly recommend them.

Bob was the first contractor to deliver a proposal, the materials quoted were of good quality and it was also price competitive. Once I selected them after a few questions, Bob was prompt to set up a follow up visit to select shingle colors. The work started promptly on the day and at the time promised. The crew was curious and professional. They took a day longer than I expected, but no big deal. They cleaned up debris and balls meticulously. My only negative is that they did not clear the driveway after the dumpster was removed, do we found a handful of nails, but luckily no damage. Bob accepted credit card payment cheerfully, which is not common for this size of project. I recommend these guys without reservation.

It was a great experience. Initially I got 5 bids and a 6th bid came in after I committed to Berg. When evaluating for which contractor to hire I found it somewhat challenging as everyone has a slight twist/customization within there bid. After throwing out the majority of bids due to a significant price difference (> 2,000 USD from the lowest bid) I chose Berg. My criteria was that the shingles were quality/warrantied for a significant time period, the installation to be done by qualified roofers (and not Uncle Danny and his nephew) and the company an established local roofing company. Thus, I chose Berg Roofing. As anyone would be after committing to dole out 6,500 USD there is a period of nervousness of what will transpire. Fortunately, I worked with John who is Berg Roofings General Manager. I asked him and I am not exaggerating over 50 questions via email. Not only did he respond quickly sometimes late at night, but he gave detailed responses, not cookie cutter responses. John even came out to my house one weekend to take a look at my attic even though he was suppose to be buying groceries for his wife. My experience with John convinced me I was in good hands with Berg Roofing. This was proven out when the crew arrived and within a half day had removed and installed the new roof. My property was spotless when they left despite 40+ mph winds. I can't tell a good roof from a bad roof, but based on Berg's reputation, the CertainTeed Shingle warranty, the experience required by Berg for a roofer to do an install then I am happy with my decision. In addition Berg allows a credit card payment which I thus was able to get cash back on my Discover card. Also, my Insurance company said I may now be able to get a homeowners deduction based on the shingles CertainTeed used...

This did not cure the leak. I later had to have part of the roof redone. That stopped the leak. But I thought this was a reasonable approach to take, especially since my downspouts were not in that good of shape.

Exceptionally well -- better than expected.

Everything went smoothly and well as originally planned.

Roofing was completed in a day. Gutters the next day. The work performed met our expectations and was a very good value for the price (see note below). Berg said they would run a magnet over our property to recover any nails they might have missed during roof removal and install -- they said they did - but the night after the roof was done I found 13 nails on our driveway and on the sidewalk in our backyard where are dog frequents. I called Berg and they said they would send the magnet back out when the gutters were done. Have only found one nail since then -- inside our garage. Gutters look great -- our previous one were pretty beat up. However, one joint at the bottom of one downspout leaks and another downspout gutter area outside our bedroom window sounds like a drum being beaten when it rains (previous gutters did not). I have contacted Berg twice about these two downspout problems and have not received a response. I am concerned that their follow-up to correct mistakes will be a problem. Because Berg was thousands of dollars less than the other roofing companies we checked with I have recommended them to friends and associates twice already. The cost savings over other bids was the reason we also did our gutters/downspouts -- which were not part of our original plan.

Company was responsive to our concerns and questions, always courteous and maintained up to date communication throughout the process. I waited to review until we had experience with weather and seasonal changes---all is good!

I received a response in a very short time. ALso, the estimate was emailed to me in just a few days. Although I went with a different roofer, Berg impressed me on their professionalism and timely response.

Terrific - I had worked with Berg Roofing and had them replace my windows about 2 years ago. I worked with Tom Pierce regarding the quote and throughout the process then, and this time with the siding and gutters. I obtained estimates from additional companies, but Berg was competitive. I also appreciate Tom's approach - no high pressure sales, just good information and really listens to the customer. I also appreciated that some of the same workers were involved. A level of trust and comfort there - especially since no one was home during the project. End result - love the look, and the service.

The finished project looks excellent. We had some unexpected rain that caused water to enter the house and create damage during the project. They covered all of the costs in a very professional and timely manner. I would hire Berg Roofing again!

Starting in late 2015 we had a lot of trouble getting a response, and even though we had a signed contract (after a while of trying), I had to give up trying to get follow through. The original roof installation went fine, and I was told the lack of responsiveness around that time was due to sickness, and issues with the telephone system and messages, for which the person I spoke to was apologetic, but sadly I had to go with another company as water was leaking into my kitchen.

Dan was great to work with. He delivered what he promised. His pricing was fair and the workmanship was great. His crew was polite and cleaned up after themselves every day. I would recommend Berg to anyone who needs their siding replaced.

We are very pleased with our new roof and chimney. And the clean up was amazing! From start to finish, Tom has been a pleasure to work with. Very attentive and responsive to our needs. We would highly recommend this company ! In fact, we have hired them to replace our siding, soffit and fascia and a few windows.

We were very happy with the services fro Berg Roofing. They were quick to respond to our estimate. The representative (John) was informative and honest about what we needed (and what we didn't need). He explained the process entirely and thoroughly (what to expect before, during and after). During the roof and gutter replacement, he kept in contact with us and updated us on any changes to "the plan" and timeline (due to inclement weather). Any deviations from our budgeted plan, he contacted us first (nothing that was unexpected came up). Overall, we were very happy and would recommend this company to friends and family. Their prices beat out the competitor significantly, too!

I left a message and recieved a return call a few hours later. I don't remember the guys name who called, but he was very upfront that they do not work much with slate tile roofs. They are a large outfit, they do over 10k roofs a year, however, he said he didn't want to waste anyone's time since they don't work with slate. The conversation could have ended there, but it didn't. The guy from Berg was awesome. He gave me a few different avenues to try to find the best possible slate tile roofing company by calling the local roofing supply depots and talking to them directly and ask them for referrals. As a first time home owner, this advice was GREATLY appreciated and it really shows that this company is full of honest and caring folks. As a first time home owner, they could have come out here and ripped me off because I didn't know any better...but they didn't. They took the time to be honest and go the extra mile even though I didn't spend a dime.

From beginning to end, a terrific experience. John Oros assured us that my wife's two gardens would be safe and that was true. Very professional. Started at 6:45a and was completely done by 4:30p. Hardest working crew I've ever seen. Not one bit of roofing was left in my yard...like they weren't there. Highly recommend asking for John, especially for anyone who is working with an insurance company to put through claims. Made the insurance process easy for us.

I originally contacted Dan Berg of Berg Roofing in September of 2015; his was the best proposal of several, and was given good reviews on BBB and Angie's list, I signed the contract on October 16. Work was to be done that fall barring changes in weather. I sent several emails back and forth to confirm materials and price and manner of work to be performed.. After signing , I emailed him on October 29, again on November 9 asking if he had a date because winter was closing in. I also left several voice messages in November, finally getting a message saying his mailbox was full. Never heard back. But since I had signed contract, I wanted to know if I was free to look for another contractor, assuming he was still in business. Send another email on January 2 asking him if he was still interested. Finally got an email on January 6 saying he had to put other jobs in front of mine last fall and was sorry he didn't get back to me sooner. After that, the next time I heard from him was May 6, to confirm pricing, color and set up the job for May 16.It took him forever to drop off samples, since nearly 7 months had passed, and the manufacturer had two grades of roofing with the same color name, that were totally different. The roofing job itself was great - small army of guys showed up, as did the waste hauler, around 8am and they had it all done including the gutter replacement on the sunroom by 6pm. Generally did a better than average job of cleaning up - I may have found a half dozen or so nails since install. They didn't see a permit; I asked if one was pulled, and the foreman said yes. But about two hours later I saw a village marked car stop by to drop off the permit for display. Dan, however, didn't show up; one of his relatives was on the job site on and off. I called Dan on May 18 for final price and invoice because of lumber purchase. Then texted him again on May 19; he responded he'd bring it when he came by to get check. He did come around on Saturday May 21 to pick up the check. I asked for a paid invoice, he said he'd forgotten it but would send one . I sent another email on June 5 asking again for the invoice and any warranty papers from CertainTeed, for insurance and warranty if ever I needed to file a claim. Again, he promised.to drop the invoice off that Tuesday, which he never did. I even asked him for an estimate for window replacement, which I never got. The sad fact is when Dan initially came out to estimate the job in 2015, he went on and on about how the mortgage processor he just worked with on a re-fi had his process for business intake nailed; communicated at every step of the process, followed up and answered questions promptly, and having a process and following it was something he thought was important. Funny how he did exactly the opposite with me. It's now July 8 and I still don't have an invoice with the specs and materials detailed in line items. I know he used the materials he quoted, as I worked from home specifically to monitor the work. His foreman said they had to replace 20 sheets of plywood, which visually was probably correct. But I don't have an invoice, or anything that resembles a warranty from CertainTeed. Yes, my roof looks good and they did a great job - but in terms of having any interest in using them for additional jobs, no. Poor customer follow up and communications. I shouldn't have to chase a vendor down continuously to find out the status of my job or my invoice. I'm also going to contact the Village Building department and the manufacturer of the roofing materials to outline my displeasure not with the work but more so with the vendor's manner of conducting business. There is no excuse for not providing me with a detailed invoice and warranty papers unless you are either an incredibly poor or disorganized business man, or you have some other reason you don't want to provide an invoice in writing.

John came out a few days after I requested a quote. Arrived on time, assessed the job and gave me a quote. His crew came out on time and completed the job in one day. They did a great job, including removing old gutters and downspouts and cleaning up afterwards.
