Berg Roofing and Home Improvements

This is the second time I hired Berg. They originally replaced the siding on my house and did a great job. When I needed my roof done, I was confident in the job they would do. I recommend them highly.

Roof and skylight went great. Just like the other two roofs I had them do in the past. The Bay window looked like a third grader had done the job, in fact they originally left the flashing with several (six or more) nails bent over and the metal flashing dented by there hammers. Brian did come back to look at it and made an attempt at fixing....while it looked better afterwards,(he covered the flashing in the center part where nails were bent and flashing damaged by hammer stirkes) it still did not look right and Will County failed them on the job. Brain became vary angry and basically refused to do anything further. I have had to hire another company to repair the damaged flashing on the window and re shingle the bay window at an additional cost of $500.00. I have pictures to show the window before and after the job, should anyone be interested.

Berg and John (my point of contact) were excellent in working with me throughout the process of re-roofing my house. Of the 6 estimates I received, they were the lowest, but more importantly, they were the most attentive to my requests and concerns. They listened to what I wanted and worked with me to solve the issues involved with my project. On the project start day, the site crew and foreman were well versed in the plan and prompt. The project (complete tear off and replacement of house and separate garage) was completed in less than a day and a half. I couldn't have asked for more. I was completely satisfied with the quality of work, price, knowledge/experience and attitude of all involved from start to finish.

Excellent! This was my 3rd estimate. I appreciated John’s honesty about the pros and cons of the different options. He even went to another house to match the siding color I wanted. The job started on time and the work was completed in 3 days. Workers were friendly, very careful about the landscaping and cleaned up at end of the day. Some plants were trampled and I was reimbursed although I knew it would probably happen. I would recommend and use Berg again.

Despite the great reviews on Angie's list - repeated calls were required to get the quote set up. They seemed professional and gave a good quote - they appeared to be an honest company with a good long-term reputation. They estimated that the job would be done in 3-5 weeks. After 7 weeks a status update was demanded regarding the start date because winter was near. They set a start date of 1 week, but increased the quote by 25% - for a previously identified issue. The cost increase was given verbally. In an effort to avoid confusion a request was made to obtain a quote in writing. Despite multiple attempts to get the quote in writing, no updated quote was received. The time delay ran into winter, which means that going to another company will need to wait until Spring. In response to their delay and 25% cost increase they rudely declared that the house was poorly made and that the cost increase was justified. Personal attacks were received from Berg in both phone messages and e-mails. It seems they are both disorganized and unprofessional - think twice before working with them.

It went so smooth. We were so uptight in our search for a good and reputable company. We needed help selecting the right materials, getting it installed without a lot of trouble and working with the insurane company on the claim and reimbursement. John the salesman helped us with all of these. We would say he went above and beyond. John is a nice fellow too. So easy to talk to. And he gave so many good recommendations and advice. We give him and Berg highest of marks. Thanks John and Berg Roofing.

We have worked with Berg since 2015 with some new siding need to be installed and trimmed again due to a deck removal. We then had a leaky skylight in our master bathroom. We ultimately decided to replace both skylights in the House. Contacted John on a Thursday evening. He was on site Monday AM with paperwork for the job. The work was completed Friday of the same week. No more leaks!

They were absolutely wonderful. They are certified Certainteed Provider. It was a very expensive roof. They were not the cheapest or the most expensive, Their ability to be flexible, and their follow up was excellent. The process and quality of work were really impressive. This was my first time using this company, and would absolutely recommend them!

It was a fantastic experience. I worked with John who was very responsive, returned my calls promptly, and gave me honest answers to my questions. We are about one month out now from having the roof replaced and no issues whatsoever - we expect many, many trouble-free years from this new roof. I looked at a number of roofing companies in the area and after all that research felt that Berg Roofing was the best choice to go with. Price was very reasonable. No regrets whatsoever and would recommend this company to anyone who needs a new roof or needs roofing repairs.

I requested them through a service that provides three contacts and Berg was the only company doing the work that I needed. They called me right away. We ended up doing more work than I thought but what I was thinking of would not have been a solution to the problem. So we worked out a solution that would solve my problem., I did not know what the right solution was but was satisfied that we worked out the right solution. I had been waiting to comment because I have been waiting on the next big rain to test it out. We have not had one and that it okay. I think they are fine but I have not had one of those big nasty rain to test it out.

Estimate was fair for the work needed. Berg came to our rescue. The previous siding installer was not helpful. We removed a deck and put in a pacer patio so we needed new siding installed where the old deck was prior

Old roof was torn off and new roof installed. Work was excellent. Berg team was professional and timely in getting the job done. Plus, great price.

Great. No issues besides finding a handful of nails in the flower beds and grass closer to the house.

Not well at all. The first appointment they scheduled to look at the work was cancelled. The second appointment they scheduled they never showed up or called. I have left multiple messages and no response

Never happened. Very difficult to reach whom I believe is the owner, Brian. I would suggest not bothering with using the company's listed phone number or leaving a message, he won't bother to reply until you are ready to walk away and only if you contact through repeated emails. He will promise to reply the next day and still not hear from for over a week. If you like any semblance of customer service, don't use this firm.

They arrived, set up and when the dumpster arrived they stripped the roof down to the deck. They inspected the decking and determined there was no rotten wood proceeded to re-nail all the sheeting. They added the ice & water shield and felt. They nailed the shingles 4 nails per. In addition I had them install a tube skylight to add light to my dark upstairs bathroom. They were done and cleaned up in about 4 hours. Very professional and courteous. I'll use them again.

The roof was completed without any issues in summer 2017. The problems began when we had some leaking. The first leak occurred around a skylight. We have two skylights and despite my message they were looking at the wrong skylight when I got home. I corrected them and they worked on the problem. In December we had some leaking around our fireplace. I called them and they said it was probably due to freezing snow and then rapid thawing. They said they would come out when the weather permitted. I asked them to let us know when they were coming so we could show them where the water came in. We never heard another word from them. In Feb after heavy rains we had leaking from a different area around the fireplace so I called them again and left a message. When they returned the call my wife answered and the Berg employee proceeded to launch into a tirade, much yelling and totally rude unprofessional behavior. He claimed they had been out two or three times to look at the skylight, even though the skylight was never mentioned in either of my two calls in the winter. I don't believe they ever came out and if they did we never received a note, a call or an email indicating what they found. Almost immediately after that outrageous call, the salesman called. Obviously he either overheard the call involving my wife or was told about it, I told him what had happened expressed my anger and he basically shrugged it off as the employee having a bad day, saying that he was only the salesman and had no authority; he basically pointed fingers and took no responsibility. He did agree to send someone out to check the chimney leaks and when that employee went up on the roof he took some pictures, showed them to me and said we needed tuckpointing on the chimney. We have subsequently confirmed the need for tuckpointing and have had the work completed. I asked the Berg employee why we weren't told about the need for tuckpointing in the summer since if it was needed now it would also have been evident BEFORE the new roof was installed (and would have avoided the last 2 leaks, the rude phone call and their representative having to come out, to assess the problems and take the photos. Neither he nor anyone from the company has answered this question. Based on all our follow up issues with this company and the disgraceful behavior on the phone with my wife we will never use this company again. No one from the company has called with an apology. The ownership of Berg roofing apparently isn't concerned about the behavior of their employees toward their customers.

John Oros was great to work with. The quote was very competitive. Berg was not the cheapest but I gave importance to being established company and the referrals I visited. The crew did great job and cleaned up after the work was done.

I worked with John Oros during the entire process. He provided a quote within days of my request, politely followed up with me a few times to answer all of my questions, and worked with me to get the best possible price. Due to the smaller size of my job, he was able to schedule within a week after I signed the contract. The roofers arrived promptly at their scheduled time, were friendly and professional, and got the work completed (including the haul away) within hours. The roof was perfect, and not one nail/shingle remained on my driveway or grass. The garage perfectly matches the shingles on my house that was completed 15 years ago. 3 inches of rain poured in the days afterwards, and my garage remained dry. It was a pleasure working with John, and I highly recommend him and Berg Roofing for their outstanding customer service up as well as excellent work completed on time and within budget!!
