The work team arrived at 7:00am and covered all my bushes to protect them from the falling debris. They also cover the air conditioner. Good thing I noticed they covered the air conditioner and shut it off. Don't forget to do this. the roof was completed by 3:00PM and everything was cleaned up and left exactly like it was before the job. I highly recommended Berg. Great job!!! Very Professional!

Berg Roofing and Home Improvers were a delight to work with throughout the entire process. From start to finish they were very professional and responsive to all questions and requests. Dan from Berg was one of the most honest and informative contractors that I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Their price was very competitive and their workers were willing to answer any questions I had once the installation process took place. After the job was complete, my yard was cleaned up and it looked great. Once done with a project most contractors are slow to get back to you with any follow up needed, but Dan from Berg Roofing was responsive and cared that we as his customers were well taken care of. I would CERTAINLY recommend Berg Roofing and Home Improvers for any of your home improvement needs!!!!! 5 star service!!!!

That went really well. Very good!! Actually I intend to write a review on them but I hadn’t around to it. It was four years ago when they did the job. It was reasonable. I would say they were responsive. They came on time. They got the job done in a day. Dumpster was delivered on the day of the job and it was removed the next day and it went fine.

Totally great job. Crew was on time & finished entire job in one day. Neat, clean, courteous.

Berg Roofing was wonderful from start to finish. His workers were on time, VERY polite and professional and quick and my property was very clean during the job and at the end of the job. I would highly recommend them again.

I checked with several friends and family members to find out who they would recommend for the work I needed done. Bergs name came up several times as well as another local contractor. I called several places and got quotes from 5 companies. Dan came out from Berg and was very knowledgeable. This was a lot of money we would be spending and he took his time and answered all of our questions. He checked out the attic and talked to us about the material and the process. He was the only contractor to talk about the warranties of the material. The price was competitive with the two other contractors we considered. After calling some of the other homeowners of the reference list he gave us we decided to go with Dan (Berg). The called about 2 weeks later to schedule the roof. That morning the workers showed up and got to work. They covered the grass in areas with tarps and covered several plants with plywood to protect them. They put down plywood under the dumpster to protect the driveway like we talked about and installed the CertainTeed shingles and a special ridge vent. They also installed special vents for the bathroom fans. The job only took one day and the clean up was great. They use some kind of magnet on wheels around the yard to make sure all the nail got picked up. We had to replace a little wood on the roof that added 90.00 to the contracted price. The next day the guys came out to install the gutters and leaf guards. The workers where very nice and did great job. Dan did everything he said he would and we couldn't have been happier with him and his company. Thanks Jen

The job could not have gone any better. I had used Berg for roofing and siding in the past, when I lived in Westmont. I moved to the far South suburbs over a year ago. It took this cold winter to realize how bad my windows were in this 113 year old home. I was thrilled when I called Berg and found out that they performed work in my area. I was able to deal with the same salesman I used in the past. He came out, measured my windows, and gave me an estimate on site. I did get other estimates. I found Berg to be very competitive in their pricing. Since I was already familiar with the quality of workmanship, it was an easy choice. Because of the weather, and the fact that I placed the order during the holidays, it took a while to get the work done. However, about one month after placing the order, I have all new beautiful windows with no air leaks. They installed the windows quickly. The workers were polite and very conscious of the cleanliness of my home. I could not be happier!!! I will need a new roof and new siding on my home in the future. I will be sure to give Berg a call. Excellent Job!!!

It went pretty good. They did the job quickly and they did not go over budget. It went fine with the staff. The guys came over and put the roof on in the morning. They tore off the old one and removed everything. The price was reasonable. There were no complications. I like it and I would use them again.

Came out next day from when I called for estimate. Wonderful Salesman! Explained and went over everything. Price comparable to my other estimates. This company has been in business longer then most of my other estimate companies and it is family owned. I liked that I was dealing with a family member who I felt was honest and in no way pushy! They took no money until job was complete and I was 100% satisfied! There are not to many other companies that do that anymore! I couldn't be happier with the outcome! The roof and siding look incredible! The workers were clean and neat! The roof was completed in one day... the siding the next. When they pulled away, there was not even a nail left behind! This company was highly recommended by a friend who knew I was getting estimates to have my roof and siding done. I am so thankful for their recommendation and will be also recommending Berg Roofing & Home Improvers to my friends and family!

It was a good experience but I do not remember much of the details. The price was good. They came out very quickly and did the job very quickly. I have already recommended them to my friends at work.

The crew that worked on the house was very good. They showed up at 8:30, and worked throughout the day, with a break for lunch, until a bit after 2pm. Everything worked out as far as timing went - the dumpster was delivered on time (and picked up early the next day) as were the shingles. The crew was pretty careful in stripping off the old shingles, nails, and felt paper. There was a discrepancy between the proposal and the work performed, but I called Tom about it and was not charged for the alteration (the proposal stated that the mushroom vent holes would be covered with metal, but the crew chief took the decking containing the holes completely off, which was perfectly sound, and installed new decking in its place). He told me that that would require two sheets of plywood, and I agreed to have this done as long as I was not charged an additional fee. I had assumed that this would be done from the beginning, and had specifically called Tom about this prior to the work taking place. He stated that there was a rationale to using the metal, which was fine, but somehow this must not have been the opinion of the crew chief. The shingles they installed were CertainTeed, and matched those on the house. I was happy with the installation of the ice & water shield, and the shingles. I was also pleased with the cutting of the space for the ridge vent, and its installation. I had told the crew chief that I wanted the weathervane re-installed in the middle of the roof, but it was placed slightly off-center. He explained that this was because there was no joist in the center, and he wanted to secure it to a joist. This may indeed be the case, but I would have rather him have told me this prior to re-installing it. The site was cleaned up well, other than a fair amount of debris falling on my car, which was then parked in the garage. The dumpster blocked me from moving the car, although I did ask if they thought I should move my car prior to the work. They said there was no need. I was also not thrilled that they tore off two large (4' x 8' I believe) pieces of decking and replaced them (to the tune of $90 on top of my initial estimate) and one of the panels had literally less than TWO SQUARE INCHES of damage! I am sure that they could have cut this piece between joists, and replaced a small fraction of it, but they tossed the whole piece in the dumpster. On the third piece, there was apparently NO damage at all, other than one edge that was discolored. I felt the wood (in the dumpster) and it was not rotted at all. Huh. One thing I think Berg could also work on is making sure they get back to people promptly, and answering the phone during business hours. I probably called them seven or eight times over the two weeks prior to the work, including the day of the job, and I think that an actual person answered my call only ONCE. Most of the time my calls were returned, but there was one occasion where I called on a Monday, left a message, and the call was NEVER returned. The following Saturday, I called back and left a message expressing my dissatisfaction about no one returning the call. That time Tom returned my call within a day. I also wish there would have been more clarity with regard to the date scheduled for the work to be done. Initially when receiving the quote, I was told that the job would be done "within two weeks or so." I assumed (incorrectly, I suppose) that Berg would give me a date for the work once I signed the contract, and that the scheduled date would be within two weeks of that. This did not exactly happen. They meant that they would call me within two weeks (or so) and only THEN would they give me a date for the work! This is not an efficient way to do business, I feel. Still, I gave them a "B" overall, for good work on the whole, with some room for improvement. The price was right, and I was on a limited budget. Lastly, I saw that one of the crew members threw the old mushroom vents into his truck (I assume to recycle the metal and grab a small amount of money for the scrap) without asking me. Just ask, please! Not nice.

They were very timely. The quality of the work was excellent. They were able and capable to do what most chimneys can't do; The roof. I was very pleased. Very thorough job. And the pricing was competitive.

Received a written proposal/quote and was told it would be two to three weeks out depending on weather. Received a call the week prior notifying me that they would be doing the roof on Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week but would call to notify me the day before. Did not receive the call the day before. The crew was very professional, they covered up all of the bushes and the perimeter around the house and garage. They completed the tear off and re roofed the house and garage on schedule and within budget. They did a very good job of cleaning up the paper and shingles however we found a lot of nails in the yard. Overall we were very satisfied with the job and would recommend the company.

I would recommend them. They did great, they were reasonably priced and clean. We had no issues. He always got back to us. They were here exactly when they said they were going to be here. They were dressed nice, they workers were nice to my wife and kids and courteous. They were even nice to the neighbors.

Our roof failed after the job. I had a certified inspector that looked at the roof. I had a lot of problems with it. I called them, and they said they would not come back. I had to have the man of the house call. The house is not insulated, and it's going to cost me $1500 to have that repaired. When they came back to fix it, they slapped aluminum sheeting and shingles on top. I still need to have the roof insulation fixed. They damaged my siding, and they exposed wood. It's a disaster. I wouldn't have them roof a doghouse.

The problem I have is that they have not completely finished it. There is a part of the flashing that is supposed to be copper. Instead of using copper, they used rubber. It has been quite a few months but they have not come back. Our original roofing had a lot of copper on it. When they took it, two people asked him if they could take it because copper is expensive. They didn’t agree to it. They had already rolled it up and they kept it. They did a good job on the roofing itself. It is just not totally complete. Their responsiveness was good. They were on time. They said that they would come back and fix the flashing part in copper but I had to pay another $150. I agreed to it because I wanted that. But they did not come back. That is the only issue I had with them. I didn’t ask all the questions because I didn’t know all the questions at the beginning. I assumed that it was going to be the way it was, with copper. It just was not a clear communication. He never told me that I had to pay $150 extra if I wanted copper. The black stands out against the brick and the white trimming. The copper goes well with the brick.

They were good. The job overall went on very well. They came when they said they would come. Their price was better than other two quotes. The quality was very much worth the money and was the better bid that we got. They clean up were good.

He was friendly. We have an odd situation at our house so he was taken back by it a little bit. I thought the price was high but we have an unusual house so I think he was a little high. I don't think he really wanted the job. He was on time and very in depth with detail, he spent 2 hours on the estimate. We didn't end up using him.

They are good. They were across the street. They are very good roofers. It’s a family owned business for a long time. They also did the neighbors roof across the way. They did his father’s roof years ago. So they’re in the same business. They do roofing. They are prompt. Their price was good. It was a fair price. I got some estimates. They did what they said they were going to do. They were prompt and efficient. They just did a very good job. I had some problem with my office room. I called them about two weeks ago and there was a severe storm. I called them up and they were here the next day. I told them that I might have a leak some where up there. They went up there and they locked the roof. They did some caulking work. They call up and they are there. I’m really happy with them and I would recommend them. We’ve had people stop by the house in cars because they give references out. They stop by the house and look. They stand in their car and look at the house. So I explain it to them when they look at my house. I will use their services again in the future.

They first came out to give us a bid and then they did the work. It cost me $4000. They came with good references. They came recommended to us. They could be a little more concrete on what day they were going to do the work. We just kind of got a day before their crew showed up. That was fine for me. However, it would be more difficult for somebody who might have to be away from the home more often. Everything appeared to go smoothly to me. The guy who gave the estimate was really great with all the stuff. I have got a warranty on the roof. If I buy a house and if I need a new roof, then I would use their services again.

We interviewed 3 roofing contractors and Dan was the one we felt most comfortable with. He is very personable and has a great crew to work with. His price was in the middle of our bids but we felt we would get the best value with him. The work is great and the house looks amazing.
