+ -1 moreFantastic! Chris and his son, were a little late b/c they were on another project, but he kept me informed the entire time with his arrival status. When he got there, he quickly assessed the job at hand; and explained what he was doing in plain english -- without a lot of jargon. I was impressed with his honesty and candor. He gave me an estimate on how long it would take him. He installed the fan and it looks great! We would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: Installation of a ceiling fan. I bought the fan, but realized pretty quickly that a job like this needed an electrician to (1) not hurt myself (2) make sure the fan never came down on our heads!

+ 0 moreWell - he came out on a sunday with no extra charge. Of course the light would blow out on a sunday! His teen daughter came as his apprentice. She was very polite and professional. He even did the additional.work of replacing a light switch, that I had not asked about when calling about the ceiling fan. Very reasonable. He arrived much later than originally planned but the job before mine took unexpectedly longer and he still showed up even though it was already 5 pm. He was very helpful with advice for the odd lighting fixture in my BR also. The cost did not include the new light fixture - I already had one as I wanted to replace it before it decided to blow out!
Description of Work: Needed ceiling fan replaced and light switch replaced.

+ 2 moreAfter about 10 minutes speculating whether or not I had the correct size junction box, we determined that the box was proper and a new one would not be needed. Had he looked immediately, we could have saved a lot of time. The fan was eventually installed, but wobbles at high speed. I probably could have done the job myself. He took a quick look at a space heater, but did not inspect my outlets. I paid for two hours ($179) in advance, but really received about 1 hour. Oh, and my appointment started about 2 hours late. Unfortunately for me, this is a typical Angie's List experience.
Description of Work: I paid for two hours of electrical service which was to include the installation of a ceiling fan. I also wanted some outlets checked to see if I may have wiring problems in my home.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. It was pretty fast, he immediately contacted me and he told me he was busy those days but he would come during the weekend and he did come. I think he came on a Sunday and did the work without any problems. He was right under the time. He didn't charge any more. He explained everything, how it worked. He said, "We're doing this as a special, but if you need more work done we charge you $135 an hour." I called them back because I had forgotten a couple of things and he came back and he did that in an hour or so and everything was fine. I was really happy with the work. He explained everything.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal from them. He did a bunch of stuff that I needed done electrically, changing lights and so on.

+ 0 moreChris and his assistant were very nice and friendly. But as the work began it was one thing after another. Chris and his partner were all over the place with no sense of direction. There wasn't a plan of attack, it was back and forth between the work that was needed. First, there was uncertainty with installing the ceiling fan; if the ceiling fan would sit flush against the wall. (along with verbal struggles to install it) It was installed successfully. Secondly, there were uncertainties as to why the circuit breaker would pop. A lot of testing that yielded no answer. Re-wiring of new light switches with the faceplates were done poorly (I had to follow behind and straighten and tighten after the fact) I went back after they had replaced one light switch to find that the wiring had been so poorly that the wires disconnected and or cut! I hired another electrician who immediately figured out what was wrong with the lighting and cleaned up the mess they had left. I would not buy again from this company. I did not feel their work was professional. I am very unhappy with the work that was completed after the ceiling fan. I would like to ask for my money back - after the cost of the ceiling fan (since that was completed successfully) Thanks, Will

+ -1 moreNot sure about light fixture -- the next day our tenant reported that the outlets in it weren't working. Ceiling fixture did not get replaced (don't know why). Light switch had to replaced again, one month later (I think due to tenant, not Quality Electric) and so they replaced light switch again. Between two visits, cost was almost $600. Seems ridiculous. Not very professional, for example, no mailing address on invoice to send check to. Long lapses between my efforts to contact them and their responses.

+ 1 moreChris was late finishing up a previous job but called in advance to let me know he was running late. Once he arrived, he replaced the garage lights timer, repurposed a Malibu lights timer from another location in our home that we were not using and diagnosed our finished basement light issue to actually be the ballasts and not the switch. He promised some pricing on either replacing them or converting the fluorescent fixtures to LED.
Description of Work: I bought a coupon for two hours of work and had three potential jobs: replace timer for outside garage lights, clean up/fix Malibu light timer setup and fix what I assumed was a switch problem on for our finished basement lights.

+ 1 moreIt was a difficult job, but all went well and I love my new fans! Chris and his assistant, John came at the agreed upon time, set up scaffolding, took the old heavy fans down and put up the new ones by early evening. Both are friendly and courteous, and very careful not to damage walls, etc., while doing the job and especially with putting up and taking down scaffolding. It was a difficult job because the ceilings are so high and the space for setup, small. One added delay due to missing a part from the fan company (my mistake) added to the very long day for both of them, but they stayed in good humor till the job was done. I would definitely hire again.

The owner did the work along with his helper and assured me it would not take hours and I would be satisfied with the work when completed. He impressed me by calling after I made the initial appointment to make certain I was provided with information about him and the company. The fan was a replacement and is over a bed. He brought a side table to hold his tools as well as a board to place over the bed to lessen damage to the bed if it fell while working. Information was offered on the best bulbs to use and no pressure to purchase services. Should additional electrical work be needed/required at my residence, Quality Residential Electric, Inc is who I will call.

+ -1 moreFantastic...I will never ever use another electrician again. As a woman, I had no idea what the heck was going on...Chris patiently explained the issues and made recommendations. I more than got my money's worth and highly recommend Chris. I feel that he did more than he really had to and I greatly appreciate it.
Description of Work: I was told by Comcast that I had a live electrical wire on the side of my house and should get an electrician out right away. I called two other electricians on Angie's list first. The first one set up an appointment for the next day at 3:00 and said they would call me in the morning. At 1:00 I still had not heard from them and called and left a message, they called back and said that they didn't have anyone available (Jack Arnold Electric). Next I contacted another electrician on the list, via email and left a voice message indicating the emergency. This guy emailed me two days later (mind you I stressed if was an emergency) to let me know he wouldn't be available for three weeks. I then called Quality Residential Electric Inc. Chris was fantastic, a kind and caring individual. He was concerned about the live wire and told me he would be out the same day, he just didn't know what time. Around 7:00 he arrived...checked the wire (wasn't live) went through the house to identify what was causing the problem....(lights flickering, cable going on and off). He made a few adjustments to some wires and went out side to check out the wires and electrical pole from ComEd. He then told me he thought it was a Comed Issue. I called ComEd and Chris patiently talked to them about the issue for me. ComEd was out the next day.

+ 0 moreThe contractor made up excuses why he needed to spend more time, figuring out the wires, when it was very clear which wire was the main wire and which wires were not. In addition, he did not finish the work, leaving me to have to buy another electrical switch. Finally he threaten me with a lien when he had never contacted me before for payment and we had never agreed on his fees
Description of Work: The provider arrived and worked very slowly on two electrical fixtures. I had purchased an Angie's List deal for 2 hours, and the electrician continued working for another 2 hours without informing me of his hourly rates. We had other licensed electricians come to do similar work on the house, and they had charged only $150 for two electrical fixtures. One week later I get threathening emails from the electrician saying that he will file a lien for non payment even though he never send me a bill nor discuss the fees and he was charging me an outrageous $169 per hour! This contractor is simply not worth the pain. I would counsel anyone in Angies list to avoid this contractor at all costs. He is deceitful in his marketing practices.

They were on time and very fair. He came out and only charged the regular hourly rate. They are wonderful! One of the best experiences I have ever had, and I've had a lot.
