He was hard to schedule--seems to be overbooking himself. He came out and said he could not do the service but would have a refund processed. We were told later that he doesn't have the ability to issue a refund--Angie's List has to do it. Angie's List won't do it because we are past the 30 day limit (and in the fine print they point out) Not happy with Angie's list or the provider.

One of the only drawbacks from a contractors perspective, is their members can post anything, this is America after all, and, the list is very pro member – as it should be. Not sure why you waited some 30 days according to my last contact record with you. I told you very professionally “I am unable to process your refund” but that the list can and will. Why is that their fault that you exceeded such a long time? or mine that you were given an array of 7 full days a week for appointment?

The service went great. Chris came out for the work and did a nice job. He did exactly what I had asked. He completed the job in about n hour and a half. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. We originally thought we would not be able to save the ceiling fan. He suggested I buy another ceiling fan just in case he was not able to fix my ceiling fan but he was able to get the fan repaired. He just had to make a trip for the part he needed but did not charge me for the time he was out to the store. He called before coming out and arrived as scheduled. I thought his pricing was excellent for all that he did. My only warning is that if you want to hire Chris is will take a while because he is very busy.

Chris came out the day after Christmas. He is diligent, kind, professional and clearly passionate about his work. I really appreciated that he loves to teach as he goes along. He noticed a few additional problems I hadn't even mentioned and gave me practical DIY solutions for them (which have really improved the house - thanks Chris!). I ultimately realized that I did not actually need the service I had asked him for and apologized for wasting his time. Even though I was ready to have him leave, Chris insisted on providing me value for my purchase and serviced my garage instead. The "professional" who installed the door put it in lopsidedly causing the mechanism to overwork. Chris repaired this and fine tuned everything so that the door now hums instead of clanks. When I offhandedly mentioned that my homelink system in my cars did not work, Chris showed me why it wasn't programming (despite following the car manual). I was so impressed. He went above and beyond in all aspects. I will definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: I purchased the promotion on Angie's list for the purpose of installing additional outlets in my washroom, but ultimately decided against it. Chris, nevertheless provided a huge value add service to my garage, going above and beyond.

I am always willing to answer questions that are asked – even if it works me out of a future sale…I think you adequately covered the device by running it through a GFCI, and would have had a hard time justifying the added expense you sought. I have a sense of obligation to treat my customer’s fairly – the way I always hope other trades treat me. While obtaining a degree years ago, before my 4 years of trade, I had extensive training in garage doors, and often utilize it to provide full 2 hour value when needed.

He never showed up! This is the worst experience I've ever had on Angie's list. Chris Walsh called me the day before the appointment and we confirmed the appt. for Noon the next day. In his rebuttal if he says anything different he's a liar. Next day I had everything layed out for him. At 1:10pm I called and got his voice mail. Left msg. that it was 1:10pm and he was supposed to be here at noon let me know what's going on. Then at 2:10pm he called me and said he was running over on a job and he was on his way and would arrive in about 30 min. At 4:00pm I called him back and asked what was going on since he still had not shown up. He said he was taking a lunch break and he just listened to my voicemail and because of my "tone" he decided he was not going to do the job. I asked him what was it I said that made him decide not to show up? He said it wasn't the words it was the "tone" he didn't like. He decided he would not fulfill his commitment. Are you kidding me! I waited four hours -and this guy never bothered to call to cancel. After he lied to me at 2:10pm and said he would be here. I told him I've had several other electricians from Angie's List and gave them excellent reviews. He said he'd take a hit on Angie's List because he has hundreds of satisfied customers and Angie's list won't do anything about a negative review. He also said he's using Angie's List to get regular customers. He also told me he doesn't want people looking over his shoulder as he works. Says it's because of "safety". Ya Right! Good luck if you choose this guy. Are you going to get Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde? In his Business description he states "he is always punctual ". Another non truth. He is going to post a rebuttal to my review. This guy doesn't know the first thing about customer service. I read the reviews about this guy on Angie's List and thought he would be a good choice. Boy was I wrong! Bottom line. He blew off a Angie's List customer. I'm a 66 year old American veteran. This is the worst treatment from any business in my life.

We called re: an arrival window only, we now do our best to be clear of “arrival window”. RE; personal service we provide, we did try to explain that the stop that preceded you was an elderly couple who had multi extension cords running on their kitchen floor – one at the top of a basement stairwell, due to a multiple outlet outage that the mr. had tried to install himself, and we were not prepared to leave them like that.. The issue we had with you was the multi condescending voice messages you left 1 hour before our arrival window, and the continued lack of respect when we talked. When we spoke, you said “that’s the way I talk to everyone”. I tried to explain that you would not do so with me. After about the sixth time you called me JR. I stated I’m 48, you said you were 61, so are you really 66? Regardless, it was the way you were addressing me – its about overall human respect. About the 4th time you asked where I got my customer service from, I said there was a history long before the list, and, from a Business Management Degree that all just spilled into today. When I inquired about your degree, you responded it was in martial arts, I thought it odd - as I too, am degreed in martial arts – but you would never need or even want to know that. I think anyone reading my reviews can see I never mind when people watch or ask questions. In fact, I have taught several people how to read their multi-meters upon request - on my own time. I said you are entitled to your list review, nothing more. My oldest son is also a veteran, I'm not sure what that has to do with the way you treat people, as he is always respectful – as all the vets I know are. Does it make me un-American; to anticipate my customers treat me with the same level of respect as I treat them – regardless of their background?

He was extremely nice. He showed up three hours later than expected. We have some construction in the room and he wanted to do an assessment before beginning any work. He was here for two hours testing and assessing. He talked for a good hour and fifteen minutes before coming to the conclusion that he wouldn't be able to diagnose the issue, and offered a refund so we could have another company come out to do the work. He was a really nice guy and I appreciated him coming out, but he was just unable to correct my problem.

It was many ceiling lights and receptacles - across 3 rooms of outage. I spent 1.5 hours coming back and asking various questions relating to trouble-shooting your complex problem. The 3 lights I did make direct contact with a live wire – should have energized, and did not, suggesting a large neutral problem, since there were no breakers off in the messy electrical panel. It is still my opinion, it’s a neutral issue, that could have been caused by the dozen or so large dead rats in your crawl space that I refused to go in to - directly behind the main panel - possibly eating some wires, you explained a private home inspector saw the same rats and didn’t think so, I have a license and enough experience to dis-agree. The other possibility was the erecting of a wall you were working on, that sits directly between the two rooms in question, and is also out – all suspect, but explained I sandwiched you in as a courtesy, and that further troubleshooting was needed, but was not fair to bump those who were patiently waiting for me. Furthermore, it is quite unprofessional to infer I was unable to figure it out, and in fact, I was willing to come back after rescheduling and would have corrected whatever the issue – good luck.

I was very professional when I arrived, admitting that when we spoke originally, you did say it was to " install new exterior lighting". I did not realize it was of the christmas string lighting type however, much less climbing trees, not sure why that qualifies me for such a low review, as I was just explaining my scope did not cover the 2 foot high tangled mess on your garage floor. Though I said it more professionally at the time. Perhaps you might try stringing them with family or friends - perhaps it may bring you more into the spirit of what Christmas is suppose to be all about.

Chris did a great job. I have absolute faith/trust based on my experience with him last month. He is definitely a keeper. If you call and he cannot fit you in for some time, please understand there is a reason why. He is a (very) high quality service provider. The buy-it-now was a steal and we will be a returning customer. Chris worked to educate us and HE SPENT EXTRA TIME at our home without charging us. I'm sure he doesn't always do this (no one can- you have to make a living), but it was appreciated. Ethical, competent bad personable- well worth your attention.

Chris was able to successfully diagnose and repair an electrical safety issue that was caused by another contractor who did work on our house. It was a difficult situation that could have required cutting into many walls, but he took the time to figure out the least intrusive way to go about it. He was thorough and clearly cared about the long-term outcome for us. He was also able to complete a tricky job of separating our microwave onto a different breaker so that it wouldn't trip every time we used higher amp devices. Most importantly, you can tell that Chris cares about his quality of work and your home's electrical safety. He is our go-to electrician from now on.

I purchased the promotional deal, Chris called and we set a date, and he then sent a message asking about the work needed. He also called on the day he was to do the work and told me he would be 10 minutes late. He arrived when he said. Very professional and knowledgeable, he said he’s been doing electrical work for 15 years. The quality was fine, and he tested all fixes when completed. Overall he did a great job and I would use him again.

It is hard for me to put into words exactly how thrilled we were with Chris. I knew I was going to be very happy with him from the very first call to schedule our Big Deal purchase. In our first call, I explained to him the various issues we had been having with our electrical system. Starting with a circuit that appeared to have burnt out, I told him the and quot;symptomsand quot; and he talked me through what we could expect. Then I moved on to describe an electrical issue we were having with our double-wall-oven ever since ComEd came out to fix our lines. He wisely suggested I first contact an appliance repairman, as he feared the digital board was damaged beyond repair (he was totally right, by the way!). Our call was lengthy, informative, interesting, and really gave me the sense that he was a true professional who really knew his stuff! He was nice, friendly, and extremely funny. And although we had to wait about a month to get onto his schedule, it was totally worth the wait. Chris confirmed our appointment the night before (which I appreciated) and showed up promptly at his appointed time. The consummate professional, he also brought booties to protect our newly cleaned carpets. He quickly got to work diagnosing the source of the issue, which we believed originated from negligent carpet cleaners a year prior (not the same guys who had been there that morning!). The cleaners had repeatedly tripped the circuit breaker with their equipment, and they kept going to down to flip the breaker to keep cleaning. Once they left, we found that our doorbell, our front-room outlet, our front-room overhead light, and the hall-closet light weren't working (they share a circuit). Chris worked diligently to figure it all out, and he found that the previous carpet cleaners had burned out a neutral wire in our house -- potentially risking my entire family's lives with a house fire! He took pictures so he could show us what the damage was and the risk they put us in. In just a short time, he fixed the problem and made us all safe again. The whole while, he was talking with us and explaining what he was doing (which was fascinating) so we could identify issues in the future. He took the time to give my husband an impromptu tutorial on how to use his digital multimeter (much to my husband's delight) and showed him some quick tricks to avoid an electrician call in the future. He also looked over our electrical panel and suggested a replacement -- but directed me to people on Angie's List who were offering deals to help save us money. But he gave us a full run-down on what we should ask for, what materials to request, and how to save money in order to buy up on other important materials. We took diligent notes, and we know it'll help us when it comes time to upgrade our panel. As a last example of his great service, he actually took the time and effort to try and call the negligent carpet cleaning company to give the owner an earful about the danger his crew had put us and other customers in. Unfortunately, the company has since shut down, but he did try to call and we really appreciate it. We hope we don't have any more electrical issues in our house, but if we do, we certainly know who we are going to call. We can't recommend him highly enough and hope we can drive all the business we can his way! :-)

Chris is wonderful! He is prompt, courteous, efficient, and really, really nice. He is also an amazing electrician! The installation went smooth as silk, and he takes great pride in his work. But he went above and beyond his job, showing my husband everything he was doing and taught him how to best use his multimeter for future electrical projects so that my husband could handle small jobs in the future. Chris called and let me know that his arrival time would be about an hour later, which was fine with me. He diagnosed the problem and then he fixed the light and then asked me if I had any other issues that he could help with so I told him that the light switch in the vanity area was not working, so he replaced it. He did a great job and you can tell that he enjoys his job. It's a pleasure to have a provider who is so thorough and considerate. Will definitely have him back again. If I could have given him an A+ - I would have.

Chris answered the phone immediately each time I called for setting up the initial appointment and was very professional from the start. He came on time on the date we had agreed upon. He reviewed the work that needed to be done, made sure he had the necessary materials and proceeded to complete the job in a timely, courteous and professional manner, all at a fair price at the rate that was agreed upon. It is sad that prompt, fair, professional work is the exception these days, but Chris is the exception. He even pointed out a prior unsafe installation on an unrelated issue and was reachable the following day to speak to the workman who had done the job. He also followed up a week later to make sure that the unsafe installation had been addressed. This was something beyond my expectations since Chris is very busy, but it was much appreciated. I have already asked him to come back for another job and have recommended him highly to friends.

Im glad we were able to run all the new pipe and wire for the lights on the inside of the garage, instead of the more expensive rigid pipe on the outside.
