There isn't enough space here to share my appreciation for the awesome job Chris did installing my ceiling fan. A high ceiling with no power and a very large fan for a large open area. His knowledge, hard work and above and beyond attitude was amazing!! There was a problem with the fan that was due to a mis-publication in the manufactures catalog and another issue related to the manufacturer. This resulted in extra time on his part to resolve the issue. His knowledge of electrical systems, elimination of potential causes enabled the problem to be resolved as quickly as possible. He reassured me and provided me with the information I needed to resolve this with the vendor and manufacturer. It was a trying a frustrating couple of long hot days, but he maintained his composure and exceptional attitude, handling things in the most professional manner. He was on-time, clean and neat. A very hardworking, knowledgeable, CUSTOMER FOCUSED PROFESSIONAL.!!!

Chris was very professional, knowledgeable electrician. He made arrangements to come over on a Sunday, which was great for me. He installed an outside light timer for us and replaced some outside electrical outlets that had stopped working. I would definitely call Chris again, and recommend you do the same. He's a busy guy, understandably, but you won't be disappointed.

I really was impressed. Both Chris and his son were personable, respectful of house, and knowledgable. They had great attitudes and went above and beyond by cleaning a fixture that had gotten filthy during construction. They also had to deal with changing eight bulbs in a two story fixture. Their scaffolding didn't fit as planned and instead of saying they wouldn't do it, they brainstormed a way to make it work. I would definitely use them again. I had bought 2 hrs through Angies list and then paid an additional $159 for the scaffolding (he had told me ahead of time the fee for this) and an extra hour of time. The came a little late but did call during the window to let me know of the delay, explaining the previous job ran late. It is clear they try very hard to make their customers happy.

It went fine. There were no additional charges beyond the big deal amount. It took a long time to find a slot for the service. I would recommend him because the worker is definitely very honest about his availability and what he can do and not do. I don't know that I would recommend him for somebody who really wants a full service electrical work. The price was fine.

It was okay. It was not the best but definitely it was not bad. There was an additional charge apart from the $79 big deal. It went over just a little bit because I had some supplies for the electrical components. He was not the most punctual. We had it originally scheduled on the February 9 at 4:30 pm and he called at 8:00 am saying that he was on his way. It was too late for me and we had to move his calendar which was a bit of hassle but overall he got here and he got everything done.

First, it is worth noting to the readers I did call when I was in route to our 9am to 11am arrival window and got your voicemail. I left you a message that I was in route. The address you have on Angie's List is in Richmond, Il. I called you when I arrived at the Richmond address from your driveway. I sat there for 15 minutes after my second call hoping you just went to the store. You called me when I arrived at my Cary stop and explained that you meant for me to go to your Crystal Lake address. I will own the fact that I did not confirm the work place address. I apologize that we delivered a less than optimal experience - that is not our goal. In the future, as a learning experience, I will try to be more vigilant in verifying the work place address. I am not a computer and I do make mistakes. That said, I did try to work with you to reschedule despite your use of profanity.

Chris was excellent to work with. He and his son arrived on time, although they did need to push back the start time; they let me know about the change the day before. Chris attempted to install an exhaust fan in my laundry room but was unable to do so because of my attic construction. Basically, the laundry room was inaccessible from the attic due to other venting, plumbing, gables etc in the attic. Chris did not charge me for the full time he spent on the job as he was unable to complete the task for which I hired him. While he was here, he also changed out a dimmer switch on a light switch/fan combo.

The 3-way switch turned out to not be possible based upon the existing wiring, but Chris suggested we may be able to do a wireless solution, which we are going to try. He was able to fix the porch light. The prior owners' electrician had apparently wired things screwy, but he was able to troubleshoot and figure out which wires to connect to which to get it working. The bigger job of the LED tube light retrofit went off without a hitch, and I was very happy with the result. Chris is very straight-spoken, and will take the time to explain the nitty gritty details of what he's going to do (if you are interested, of course). He is a bit hard to schedule, as he is in high demand, but I found him very easy to work with.
Description of Work: Chris first did an Angie's list 2-hour deal project for me where he: 1) investigated whether he could install a 3-way switch in my basement 2) figuring out why my back porch light wouldn't go on I then had him do a second job where he installed new LED tube lights in 8 existing T12 light fixtures.

It is important to note that when my son and I arrived, your husband had previously taken all the 3 and 4 way switches out of the numerous electrical boxes in the living room and on the 1st and second floor of your stairwell. These boxes once contained identifying screws and corresponding wires critical in determining how it was all to be put back together. Moreover, you folks had over a dozen lights that were separately controlled by 16 identical colored wires in each box, that your husband had nothing more then a single wire nut on each. When we left your home, all the hallway lights on the 2nd floor, the stairwell lights, and the first floor living room lights were correctly wired to all 6 boxes - some containing multi 3 and 4 way switches. I feel you received a fair price, Im sorry you do not feel the same, we hope you still keep us in mind for future electrical needs.

They were late and he explained why. The job required more labor than he anticipated. We showed the men what was needed. He addressed each one individually and told me what was needed and the approximate cost. When he went into the attic to see if he could put wiring for the sconces in the bedroom, he found a problem that someone else had to fix. He also found a detached outlet cover that needed to be replaced.

The track light part was only sold in white at the vendor, as we discussed – the black is said to take 2-4 weeks I will carefully follow. The bedroom sconces were just too much reconstruction, as the wall did not rise up into the attic, making wall destruction a must. While I do that all the time, it can be a costly addition that must be carefully weighed against need. I just like my customers to know how much can often be involved after opening a wall. I did keep you informed of running late, I typically run into delays or add ons all week. My job is to complete each possible task, and may have to reschedule some of the add ons. I am pleased to hear that you got the bathroom exaust hose re-connected to a roof- vent as that may have been a future problem and felt it was best to leave it to an HVAC guy to assure it was done properly.

Provider came to our house on two occasions on dates and times as scheduled, which we appreciated. He was very communicative and even contacted us the evening prior to the appointments on both occasions to confirm. He seems to really enjoy his job. On his first trip, he provided a temporary coil/spring for our garage door and said he'd come back with the permanent piece as soon as he could (which was weeks out; apparently he's in high demand). He was also perplexed as to why the wiring from the house to the garage had two separate lines, and wondered about some extra wiring. He thought this over for awhile and decided to rewire or reconnect something to get the door working properly. Voila! Our garage door is back in business! We are pleased that he fixed it. However, while awaiting his return visit with our permanent spring, we realized our interior garage light AND our exterior garage light had stopped working. We asked him about it and he felt it had nothing to do with his work. We are not the experts, so what else can we do but hire another electrician (this time not going to use Angie's list) and shell out money for a problem that wouldn't exist if it weren't for our experience with this provider. It's a shame.

The short was found very quickly, it was due to an improper wire pull to the garage months to years before you bought or we showed up. Perhaps a result of a previous homeowner or a friend of theirs with good intent. It cut into the hot wires’ insulation exposing the copper; time, and rubbing on the pipe did the rest. We were able to safely utilize 2 other wires in the pipe from an old 240 line. That saved you a large sum of money, and a huge dig in your yard – which is always our intent- to save money and time, and, to move on with our day. It is always difficult to hear someone infer that it was from the current electrician. The breaker is set to trip at 15, but by design, it easily takes up to a 10,000-amp hit every time you had reset it. Conversely, the components on the same circuit, like the 7.00-dollar – 10-20 year old light fixtures may have taken fatal hits however, as they are not…. But that’s just my educated guess; we assure you, we did nothing to facilitate it. Moreover, we had you scheduled for a third trip to install the new lights, the Mr. of the house canceled it and you folks decided to go off the list, probably to pay 150.00 and hour. We will bet the farm that hey did what we would have done, at a greater expense.

I bought the Angie's List deal for two hours, and had a new ceiling light/fan installed. That went fine and it looks nice. The second visit was for repairs on the electrical panel in the basement. The electrician made sure that everything was up to local codes and then worked on my old, rusty garage door that I hadn't used in years. He oiled it, put in some safety wires, replaced a roller, and it works great now. He was careful, thorough and charged a good price. He also likes to explain everything he is doing and is very personable. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need or replace things that didn't need replacing.

Glad the door is rolling well, and that we hit the overall A, as that is what we strive for. The punctuality is something we are struggling with. Unseen obstacles is a huge part of that, add ons are a smaller part. We now have a full time apprentice, but please be patient, we really do try and perform the highest quality of workmanship, while focusing on safety, not speed. Simultaneously, we strive as hard to keep the costs as low as possible during each job. It really is a juggling act we are working on daily, and try our best to keep each scheduled person up to date.

Excellent. Chris and Tim were knowledgeable, friendly, respectful, and more than willing to explain what they were doing and why they were doing it. Before arriving Chris had recommended what type of fan to purchase ahead of time so we wouldn't waste time during the call. He showed me how to repair a non-functioning ceiling fan and return it to operation without having to replace it. Our second fan was not worth salvaging, so Chris removed it and easily installed the replacement fan that I had purchased. Chris was not only friendly and more than willing to share his knowledge about ceiling fans, but also answered unrelated questions that I asked him (e.g., LED vs. CFL lighting, how to choose the best lighting for the room purpose, how to get good deals at hardware stores such as Home Depot, etc.). In summary, not only was the work performed flawlessly, but it was a pleasure to meet Chris and Tim and talk with them while they worked. Would highly recommend!

Thank you for the nice review, it is always nice to hear positive feedback. I always recommend a ceiling fan with pull chains. While the remotes up in the canopy can provide additional convenience, the pull chains often provide many continued years of use after they fail. Though internal control wiring sometimes prohibits this technique, that was a quality fan and I'm glad we could preserve it. Finally, I always advise LED compatible sockets for ANY lighting devices. Though a little costly to purchase, they last many times longer - often 20-30 years.
