Response from Quality Residential Electric Inc
Hello [member name removed], The tech arrived on a porch light out call. Upon arrival - it was determined a defective switch was probable. Upon further investigation, it was determined that it was a DESPARD switch, also loosely attached to others by its design. Before we opened it, we informed you that it is not a common switch (from the 50s 60s ?) and we further felt - not a good idea to replace with - but you insisted, and we never dictate customers choices. You were asked if ANY of the attached switches were controlled at any other location, you said no. When the device was pulled from the box, an unrelated switch fell apart - literally. We did not recommend an exact replacement part for that reason. We stock several different types, but not that. We further explained Despard is said to be out of business, and the clones that are now produced in their name are not available at your local Home Depot, but you insisted. So we were able to find a distributor after some time - on a Saturday afternoon and we even went to purchase this expensive switch at great distance from your home. At that point we determined 1 of the defective switches was in fact operated from a different location. After tracing wires, we were able to find the other switch in the garage, you said you never knew was there, but now you did. We are licensed and insured, and though we do not claim to know it all, we did find something you claimed you never knew about - in a very reasonable - affordable timeframe. Im sorry you were did-satisfied.
