We found Jacek on Angie's List and within a week of our first contact, he had provided a thorough estimate that we accepted. Work on the basement started shortly thereafter and followed exactly the schedule Jacek had proposed with workers showing up on time every time. The worksite was left clean and organized at the end of every day. As the work progressed, there were several modifications that needed to be made to the original scope and Jacek was flexible and thoughtful in fully addressing each issue that arose. Jacek was always available to talk with us and was very responsive to questions we raised. When we discovered a few finishing items that needed addressing several weeks after the work was completed, Jacek had someone out the very next day to address all of them. Jacek was a true professional in everything that he did on our project and we are thrilled with our new basement space.

It is impossible to say enough about JK Complete Remodeling. From my first meeting with Jacek this grand project was beautifully coordinated with uninterrupted communication between Jacek, his crew and me. Jacek is a professional, extraordinarily attentive to your questions, doubts and concerns, is an excellent listener and will assist throughout the process. This was especially important to me as I live alone and have little knowledge of construction issues. I did however independently arrange for and acquire all cabinetry, tile, countertops, fixtures etc (all the "fun" stuff). Jacek and his crew are very attentive to detail work and were not satisfied to simply let something go as "good enough". I had the impression their philosophy is that there are 2 ways to do something; the right way and the wrong way. Jacek's work team consisted of Eddy, Paul 1, Paul 2, Michael-my favorite electrician, and Darius the plumber. All were extremely polite, correct and chivalrous. It was necessary for me to be gone often during the day however there was no problem leaving them with the house; cats and valuables were locked up so that everyone's conscience was clear at the end of the day. The crew was fine about locking up in the evening. They were in good contact with Jacek throughout the day and communication flowed; as well Jacek will always answer his telephone, for example if an issue should come up suddenly during the workday - Jacek will address it immediately. I also found it useful to leave drawings, diagrams, notes taped to walls, doors, electrical outlets, visible throughout the house; for example, the cabinetry diagram or the floor tile pattern. The team worked tirelessly in the summer heat and each night left the house well ordered. They picked up materials from suppliers where necessary. Any small requests from me were attended to and they often went above and beyond duty without being asked to. The price was more than fair; (another contractor wanted over $46K - not including cabinets, to do just half the work which JK did!). I actually added on a number of things as the work progressed. However, do your research well in advance when you give Jacek your initial list - down to the smallest detail where possible and be sure each party understands what they are responsible for. Since I did request a permit from the Village, there were 2 inspections - even the inspectors were impressed with the work. The project completion was later than projected but that was only because I had to wait almost 6 weeks for additional cabinetry pieces and the extra time had nothing to do with JK Complete Remodeling. Having done this project on my own I can say it was truly a valuable learning experience, mostly made possible from the use of Angies List. As well, any future construction in my home will only be done by JK Complete Remodeling. Go for it! you'll be happy you did!

These guys are simply great at what they do. Jacek and his crew are very personable and easy to work with, and are highly skilled at all trades involved. I got to know some of the crew particularly well (some are real characters!--in a good way) and I'll actually miss them. I am impressed with their attention to detail and how they went out of their way to make little things right, even if it meant extra work for them that they didn't plan on. I marveled at how they did such quality work so quickly, and how they really care about what they do. I worked on a family exterior painting crew for 9 years when I was younger, a crew that really prided ourselves on being the best. I can tell when a crew cares about what they do, and Jacek's crew truly does. (To be honest, I would have to give the drywall subcontractors a "B." They were still very good and the majority of the walls look great, but there were a few noticeable flaws that I feel should have been caught.) I am especially pleased with the fact that whenever I had a concern or there was a problem (inevitable with such a big, 2-month long project) it was addressed immediately, effectively and without hesitation. There a few communication issues at times--both with language and also making sure the different workers doing different shifts on different days were on the same page about certain things--but everything always worked out, and Jacek and his crew always made every effort to make sure I knew what was going on at every stage of the project. I learned an awful lot during the entire process about the various trades involved, and Jacek gave me good advice along the way, helping me make good decisions about adjustments or extras as situations arose. My wife and I are thrilled with the results of Jacek's remodeling, and overall the process was a great experience. I feel like we've found a special crew that does fantastic work for an unbeatable price. We definitely plan to hire them again for more work in the future.

Overall, working with Jack and his crew was a great experience. Jack was responsive to my initial request for a bid, and his bid was competitive. When I chose JK to perform the work, they scheduled the work and began about a week after the agreed start date due to a delay on another project (this wasn't a problem for us because we weren't in a particular hurry). Once they started to work, they showed up almost every day and worked extremely hard. I was impressed by the speed of the work. In fact, be prepared to communicate early and often with Jack because the work proceeds very quickly, and you will want to make sure that all your instructions/requests are addressed before work is completed at each step of the process. The project was just completed but I am so far happy with the quality of the work; I only had one quality concern with the laying of shower floor tiling, which Jack and I resolved. In particular, the carpentry work on the built-ins is top notch. I also found Jack to be trustworthy and flexible to work with for additional requests and minor project changes during the process. I have already recommended Jack to three separate people considering various remodeling projects. I hired Jack because of the great feedback he receives on Angies List and his competitive price. He didn't disappoint.

This was not a good experience at all. When Jack came to give me the estimate he warned me that the cabinet sink was not a standard size. I asked if a pedestal sink would be better and he said yes. I signed the contract and sent a deposit in mid January. He then sent me to Advantage Kitchen and Bath to purchase the sink, toilet and medicine cabinet. I ordered a pedestal sink, a toilet and a medicine cabinet and light fixture. A few weeks later his crew arrived to tear out the old fixtures and informed me that the pedestal sink would not work because the pipes were coming out of the side wall - something I would have expected Jack to notice when he gave me the original estimate. I then ordered a custom cabinet and countertop to Jack's measurements. 6 weekls later the sink arrived and the cabinet was too deep and wouldn't fit. Jack took it to a carpenter to cut it down - at my expense. Everything was finally completed at the end of May. A couple of months later, I noticed that the pocket door was not closing correctly. Then it came off the tracks. I got a local handyman to come in and get the door back on track, but it still doesn't close correctly. The new door is much heavier than the old one was, and I suspect that, to save time, they installed the new door on without replacing the hardware. The weight of the new door has bent the old track. I am now in search of a carpenter who can replace the track. We really don't want these guys back in our house.
Description of Work: This was a small powder room remodel. The job included replacing a toilet, cabinet sink and pocket door.

In total, the remodeling took 6 full days. Jack gave a very reasonable estimate and was present for part of the first day of the work, after that he was available by phone and checked in several times. His worker, Bogden (sp?) was great, very hard working and very precise. We would definitely use Jack's company again!
Description of Work: We had a small (3.5ft x 4.5 ft) half bath on first floor gutted and redone. Dry wall was put up, tile to floor and halfway up walls, all new fixtures, toilet, vanity, mirror. We had a very old bathroom and needed everything updated, including emergency shut off valves on the piping and electrical sockets moved. The price above is mostly for labor, drywall, grout, etc. We provided the tile, toilet, sink and vanity, light fixture, medicine cabinet.

Overall we were very pleased with the results, and the work is beautiful. Jack gave us a quote in late July, and he started work in early September (our mutually agreed upon date). Jack was honest, open and responsive to our calls and questions. We made a few subtractions and a few additions to our original contract, which Jack easily accommodated. The price of the work was exactly as expected, it progressed on schedule; there were men working here, extremely hard, almost every day. There were a few bumps in the road (the window arrived in the wrong size, for example), but this was worked out, and did not delay the construction to a significant degree. While we would have preferred to see Jack on site a little more often, he was always prompt about returning our phone calls. There were a few areas of miscomunication or different expectations in some relatively minor areas such as painting, but these were all resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. After we paid Jack the final installment, we realized that a couple of outlets (in another room, not part of the major construction) had not been replaced as per the contract. Jack had the electrician out to fix them the next day. As a side note, during the construction, our dog accidentally injured his leg on some construction materials in the back yard. Jack was extremely sympathetic, and without our asking, as an act of kindness, he made some additional repairs in another room in the house that were not part of this job. Jack is a person of integrity and true to his word. Thank you for a job well done.
Description of Work: Gut a large garden level family room and hallway, including removing ceilings. Drywall, retrim, install new canned lights and outlets, install laminate floor, remove exterior door, install window, paint walls, ceiling, paint stone fireplace. Replace and update electrical panel box. Repair and replace interior doors, refinish 6 oak stairs leading to lower level. Install cable and phone outlets.

It went very well ! Jack showed up when he said he would with his assitant. The job went smooth and the clean up was great. The leak that damaged the wall has been fixed by another company. When I'm sure the leak is really fixed I'll have Jack back to replace the removed wall with a new one.

I found Jack to be honest, direct, and straight forward in every interaction I had with him. He and his crew did a phenomenal job on my new kitchen. We have gotten so many postive compliments on the kitchen he and his guys built for me from all our friends and family when ever they come over to our house. The great thing about Jack is that he can do both the design and build components of a kitchen renovation. The design he came up for my kitchen totally maximized the available space we had and makes the whole room feel more spacious and workable. When I did see one or two things I thought needed to be touched up or fixed Jack saw to it that one of his guys fixed it immediately without any attitide or pushback. Jacks crew showed up at 8:00 am sharp everyday and they worked hard non stop all day long. They cleaned up after themselves everyday and they had to work around my family and all our stuff because we lived in the house while he was doing the job. Jack has a really strong crew and they take alot pride in their work and the finished product they produce for customers. I never worried about my house or the things in it when I would leave during the day when I had to run errands. Jack completed everything he said he would do per the contractsI had with him. As far as improvement opportunities, Jack could do a better job of communicating work status and instructions to his crew before they arrive on a job site. I found myself at times having to micro manage the project to make sure his guys knew what work was done by other members of the crew and what work still remained. There were a couple of occasions where his guys did not show up due to unforseen circumstances and I would have to call Jack to find out if his guys were coming that day and if not when they would be coming back to finish the work. Even given the aforementioned, I would not hestitate to hire Jack and his guys again and neither should you. They offer a really "good bang for the buck", do really great work, and honor their commitments to customers. The before and after pictures of my kitchen illustrate the quality of work Jack and his crew produce.
Description of Work: Gut remodel of dated kitchen right down to the studs. Jack and his crew did a complete demolition of my existing kitchen and installed new; cabinets, tile floor, electrical, plumbing, and undercabinet lighting. They repaired and repainted my kitchen walls and installed a new glass tile backsplash.

We got several estimates to remodel our basement we decided to go with JK. Jacek seemed very honest and his estimate was very competitively priced. Jack was very good about following up regarding any questions.Throughout the entire project Jacek was very easy to work with and the workers always showed up when they said they would. There weren't any delays from their part. They were very good about making sure everything looked as we wanted it and made a few good suggestions throughout. I always liked Ralph's ideas regarding the layout of the walls and decided to implement them. Jose's team performed a fast and high quality drywall job. Extremely professional plumbing work from Wesley. Eddy's woodwork was very detail oriented and Paul and Adam did an excellent tile job and painting. I did make a few changes to the original plan so the price kept going up which is understandable. Jacek was very flexible incorporating those changes into the project but I think there is opportunity for improvement from Jacek's side, he should track the changes more efficiently because there were a few misunderstandings regarding some of my requests and the cost of them. That's why I gave him a B in professionalism. Overall we are very pleased with the outcome of his work and would use him again and recommend him to our family and friends.
Description of Work: Complete basement renovation, framing, electric, insulation, drywall, flooring, painting, wood work, doors, oak staircase and exterior door replacement. Bathroom construction included framing, plumbing for toilet, sink and shower/tub, ejector pit, electrical, drywall, tile on floor and tub/shower area, bathroom fixture installation. They did two completely different tasks for me. The 2nd story work was mostly A work; the bath earned from A's to F's, hence the overall grade of C. The drywall work/repair was excellent as was most the work on the second story. They were on-time, worked hard, and came when they were supposed to. Communication was a problem as they speak mostly Polish and I felt that Jack could have done a better job of instructing them or giving them direction. I was pleased with the overall work, the crew, and their work ethic. I really like the crew. I was displeased that they had left a bad wire in the ceiling they replaced instead of pointing it out and asking me if I wanted it fixed. Jack's excuse was that is wasn't included in the work order and so he ignored it. Who ignores a bad wire (blackened and cracked insulation) and leaves it in a ceiling? However, since I was pleased overall I invited them to do the bath work with the understanding that I expected to consulted if things like the wiring came up. On the bath project, Jack was very flexible with the timing and was willing to work with me on scheduling other contractors and the work I was doing myself. I was surprised and not prepared to have to hire my own heating contractor but Jack's crew was very good about working around them. The drywall was again excellent and the electrical was done properly. Bart suggested a few things that greatly improved the project design. For example, he pointed out that I needed a light in the shower. The plumbing was a disaster. There was no trap installed in the tub drain, the toilet flange was below the floor level and the sink drain was not appropriate for a pedestal sink. I seriously doubt that the shower is vented properly, but without ripping out the walls, I can't check. Jack's response to these problems was to blame me. The floor wasn't in before the flange was installed (it was), he didn't know there was a pedestal sink (it was sitting in the next room and was in the blueprint), and then asked me where I wanted the tub trap; like it was an add-on when I pointed out it was missing!? A new guy was eventually sent to install the tub trap and it leaked from the start. They had to come back 3 times to eliminate the leak. (Seriously, run some water down the drain and check it before you leave.) Jack at first refused to fix the toilet flange; wanted to jerry-rig it with multiple wax rings and shims. I found this unacceptable for brand new plumbing. Jerry-rigged toilets were the reason I was having to replace my floors in the first place. Jack was rarely there and did a poor job of communicating instructions to his crew. As the project went on, they became more undependable, saying they would be there, and then not showing up or calling. When I reported this to Jack he indicated that was unacceptable and said he would take care of it, but then he blew off an appointment with me himself; not showing up or calling. To Jack's credit, he did keep coming back until the problems were fixed to my satisfaction. I think he is a good guy and an honest man and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for framing and dry-wall and I would have him back to do that kind of work for me. But I wouldn't hire him do any plumbing.

Job well done! Jacek's crew started just a few days after the contract was signed. They worked on Saturday and completed the job in 2 1/2 days. At the end of every day they stacked the remaining lumber neatly on one side fo the garage and swept. The finished product is extremely sturdy and looks flawless. I would use them again and recommend them to a friend.

This is our second time working with Jack on a project and once he remodeled our kitchen so beautifully a few months ago, we didn't turn to anyone else but him when we were looking to do our bathroom. As always, Jack's team was on time and kept the project within our timeline. Jack really made sure we got exactly what we discussed and the bathroom couldn't have turned out any better. His team paid attention to details and did a great job cleaning up after the job. Just with our kitchen remodel, we felt like Jack gave us a fair price and always made himself available.
Description of Work: Jack and his team updated our main bathroom. The updates included removing and replacing the tile floor with baseboards, removing existing medicine cabinets and sink, repairing and painting the walls, installing new electrical, changing the plumbing to accommodate duel sinks (we only had one sink prior to the remodel), installing a new vanity and mirrors.

Had a good meeting with Jack/Jake on a Thursday and we talked through everything. He had some good ideas for some of our layout options and was up front regarding some of the costs and seemed very honest and open. It seemed like he was very interested in the job and wanted us to get back to him afterwards so that he could give a counter-estimate. We were very eager to hear back from JK and we were supposed to hear back on Monday or Tuesday of the following week. We are 5 or 6 days past that time now with no communication from JK at all. We have received quite a few other quotes in a short period of time and one of them we received on the same day (the company we ultimately chose). I would expect to receive something back on or around the date/time I was told. I wasn't given a phone call or anything since. It was a great start to the process with no follow through.

I brought in quite a few contractors to take a look at our addition which was sinking. We received solutions and costs that varied greatly. JK Remodeling was by far the most impressive bid by combining great costs and most solid solution. Jack and his guys were absolutely great to work with and I will go back to them for future work without hesitation. They did a great job of keeping me up to date with progress and letting me know when any obstacles popped up. The work was solid and the price was great.
Description of Work: There were 2 phases to our recent construction project: The first phase involved repairing the foundation of our addition which was sinking. We received 6 estimates from various contractors (4 were from Angie's list). We were most impressed with Jack's knowledge, his reviews on Angie's list & his estimate, which was near the low end of the 6 estimates. Jack and all of his crews did a very good job. We had the kitchen totally remodeled & 2 bathrooms gutted & remodeled. Living room, dining room, halls & den were all painted with new baseboards throughout. New hardwood floors were put in the kitchen & dining room. Mike & his crew did them to our specifications & they are lovely. Tile in the halls & both bathrooms looks beautiful due to Marian's expert work. New lighting, new electrical outlets, new fuse box, and assorted final detail work was handled by Paul, who was very knowledgeable. During the entire project, if we had concerns or certain things needed to be changed, Jack was always available & got back to us in a very timely manner. All of his people are very trustworthy, and we had no qualms about leaving for the day. We would highly recommend JK Remodeling. We expect to use them again on a future project we are planning. I understand that Angie's List is great for vendor's business, and this is confirmed by the fact that many appear to be too busy to respond to inquiries. We have purchased a new (to us) home and are doing a lot of work in various categories. I would guess that 50% of those contractors we have attempted to contact via Angie's List have not responded. An identical review is going into at least 5 vendor reviews today. JK appears to fall into this category. We have chosen a contractor that responded in a timely manner.
Description of Work: Made 3 attempts to contact JK, 2 via email and 1 voicemail to have a home office built in our basement. Have heard nothing back from them

Appointments were kept, price quoted did not change. Work was done in a professional manner. Special care was taken to protect carpeted floor areas, workers wore booties and really cleaned up after they were done. (Wife was totally impressed) Overall, a refreshingly positive experience with a plumbing contractor. Would work with J.K Complete Remodeling again.

Jack was very professional and personable. He listened to our ideas and had several helpful suggestions to offer. Ralph and Marion were punctual and very neat. They cleaned up the space at the end of each day. The quality of their work is exceptional. We are very satisfied with the results and would highly recommend J K Complete Remodeling to our neighbors, friends and family.

After getting several estimates to remodel our basement we decided to go with JK. Their estimate was very competitively priced and Jack was very good about following up regarding any questions. They completed the demolition of my basement( which included the removal of a non-working fireplace), re-framed the basement, installed new electrical outlets and can lighting, installed drywall, installed flooring, installed windows and painted the entire basement. They also expanded the basement bathroom and installed a shower, new plumbing and an ejector pit. Floor and shower tile was also installed. Throughout the entire process Jack and Paul were very easy to work with and always showed up when they said they would. (there was one exception with the drywall sub but that was quickly addressed) They were very good about making sure everything looked as we wanted it and offered good suggestions throughout. We did make a few changes to the original estimate but JK delivered exactly what they said they would at the agreed price. I look forward to working with them again.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Jacek and his team were extremely responsive, priced aggressively and fairly, and performed an outstanding job with our basement remodel. We could not be happier with the experience, and I would recommend Jacek and his team to anyone. Thanks!!!
