 + 7 moreThe house was built four years ago so we knew how difficult construction could be. This basement experience was so much better than our experience when the house was built (by a different builder). Ralph, who did most of the work on this project, was very conscientious and took great pride and care to get everything exactly right. In the bathroom, we had selected an onyx (like marble) tile that was so delicate it practically broke in my hands, but Ralph installed it perfectly. Ralph worked incredibly hard and was extremely reliable and easy to have around (especially in light of the fact that I work from home so I was often just one floor away). We were on a very tight schedule because I needed this project to be done before Thanksgiving, and it was done on time--exactly when Jack said it would be. The project also came in on budget, with no surprises. The cost was entirely reasonable. Apart from the luxury floor tile in the bathroom, we were on a very tight budget. Jack managed the entire project very well and provided expert guidance for the initial floor plan and related decisions. We are delighted with the results and would recommend Jack and his company very highly to anyone who is considering any type of remodeling project.
Description of Work: Jack and his crew transformed our basement from a totally unfinished space to two beautifully finished rooms plus a full bathroom. The new family room and office space include engineered hardwood floors, recessed lighting, solid core doors, a French door, baseboard trim that matches the rest of the house, and unusual onyx floor tile in the bath.

 + 11 moreJack's estimate was 4 pages of detailed work, with a payment schedule. He started 3 weeks after I signed the contract as we agreed. Because I had to wait for a roofing contractor to finish repair on a leak above the living room, Jack's crew had to start the project out of sequence. Still, they moved ahead every day including Saturdays. The knowledge and skills in his workers is advanced and detail oriented. The scope of work as mentioned above also included the additional work listed below (add $760): fix a broken shower faucet. Install a utility sink in the laundry room. install corner cabinets in dining room to appear built in. correct improper install of built-in oven. Jack and his crew Paul, Michael, David did everything very well and were easy to work with and have in our home. The painters Peter, Michael and Mark were also extremely professional and seasoned painters who took great pride in their work. The tile work is stunning and the details in every job they completed is perfect. I highly recommend J.K. Complete Remodeling & Construction. I will definitely use them in the future for other repairs and upgrades to my home. Thank you Jack and great job!
Description of Work: We needed to refresh the first floor paint colors (1,300 sq.ft.), update the kitchen fireplace, backsplash and powder room. Based on the highly recommended reviews in Angie's List, I contacted Jack. Every previous review,and now this one, are key to why you should contact them for an estimate. You should be serious about getting the work done and know exactly what you want so you can appreciate the comprehensive estimate you will receive. As we moved through the project I did ask for additional tasks to be done and Jack took care of them very cost effectively for me. Before Jack started, I had opened up the drywall along the ceiling edge to allow a separate insulation contractor (Revolutionary Foam) install spray foam and (Home Energy Control) blow in cellulose insulation. Jack had to bid the patchwork prior to ever seeing the openings, yet his price did included all needed patchwork based on my description. The scope of work entailed: drywall patching, taping, sanding, priming. patching/painting walls, ceilings, trim. hall way, powder room. remove 1 wall of wallpaper. rebuild fireplace surround, w/ custom inset for TV and components. remove old tile from kitchen backsplash, install new glass/onyx tile. tile powder room walls, floor and correct plumbing issues. tile fireplace, install TV bracket, cable runs, power outlet. tile fireplace hearth and install new door. install hardwired doorbell. hang new light fixtures, and exhaust hood. install under cabinet LED lighting. install new TV and sound bar. relocate one ceiling electrical box.

 + 14 moreThe job went very well. They started on October 24 and finished on Nov 27. The various workers arrived on time and worked steadily throughout the day. Jack was on site regularly and kept us informed of what was happening next. He was very flexible about any changes we requested along the way and was responsive to our request to be finished by early December. He never tried to up sell us but if we wanted to upgrade anything, he accommodated our requests. The workers were also very good about cleaning up after themselves each day and taking away garbage that accumulated as a result of the work. The job came in at the price quoted with no hidden charges or additions we were unaware of.
Description of Work: We had our basement finished. This included installing a powder room, family/play room, closets and workout room. Our basement was completely unfinished so the job involved installing new insulation, drywall, woodwork and trim, new windows, electrical, heating/AC duct work, plumbing and new ejector pump, tile, closets, doors and painting.

 + 6 moreEverything went pretty much as planned and by the contract. There were some very small adjustments to the contract for extra lights and cable outlets but very minor. The project took about five weeks. The person that did most of the framing, trim, painting was a very nice older gentleman that did excellent work. Very skilled. He doesn't speak English very well so communicating was a little rough at times that may have led to some minor misunderstandings. Most of the communication was with the owner Jacek. No real issues. Nice guy. Can be reached by phone anytime. Leave a voice mail if he's not around and he returns the calls promptly. He was out of town a week or two during the project but no issues really since his guys were self sufficient. He stopped by to check out the work periodically and to pick up the payments. :) It's been several weeks since completion of the project, no issues found with electrical or anything. We'll use them again for future projects.
Description of Work: We didn't go overboard with the basement remodeling. The basement is about 1500 sq ft. We sectioned off the mechanicals and made a decent size storage room. Put in a couple of closets. Opened up the walls surrounding the staircase leading down into the basement. The rest was left pretty open. They did framing, electrical, insulation, drywall, paint, trim, recessed lights etc. They pre-wired for speaker wires for surround sound. They did everything except for the carpeting, which we got from Home Depot.

 + -1 moreWe received three estimates for the job. One was way out of line and the other was comparable to Jack's. I just felt that Jack was straight forward and understood what I wanted. The entire job was completed in 7 1/2 working days with no cost overages. We purchased all materials ourselves, and Jack provided all construction materials including wainscoting, which he also purchased. They were on time, professional and cleaned up every night. When the job was complete, we had a short list of a few things that needed additional attention. Jack sent someone within a few days, and he fixed everything on my list. I could not be more pleased and in fact have recommended him to a friend, who has also hired him. As an interior designer, I am pretty particular, and Jack and crew met all of my standards.
Description of Work: We had a complete remodel of our bathroom. It was a total gut. Everything was removed/replaced except the window.

 + 13 moreWe had 4 different contractors come in to quote the job listed above, and of all of them Jack from JK Remodeling came back to us with what we considered the best quote overall. He was not the least expensive (one other was cheaper) but we were impressed with his attention to detail, the thoroughness of his quote and his ability to answer the questions we had about the project. Others were way out of the ballpark on price, or just not as organized as we would like (estimate scrawled with pencil on a piece of paper ripped from a spiral notebook. Jack, on the other hand seemed well organized and eager to do the job. The project was quoted to last about 7 weeks and Jack's team completed the job on schedule. There was rarely a day that there was not someone on the job. All of the people Jack had on the project from electricians to plumbers to laborers were friendly and focused on the job. There were some days where we did not know who would be coming or when, but any time we would call Jack he would answer or call back within minutes to let us know what was going on that day. All in all the project went pretty much as planned. There were a few instances where Jack's people would uncover an unforeseen problem, there were also a few instances where I had to have Jack's people correct some minor mistakes or issues that I had found, and there were several times where I added or changed minor details of the project. But no matter what the issue, Jack was very flexible and never had a problem fixing or re-doing or changing anything during the project. I would definitely recommend JK Remodeling to anyone who is planning a remodeling project in their home. jack runs a very well organized, reasonably priced, professional, good quality business.
Description of Work: We contracted JK Remodeling to perform an extensive remodel of our kitchen and bathroom, as well as several related projects in our dining room, living room and hallway. K. Complete can create it for you. The work was top notch. Paul, Andy, and all the other workers are very skilled in their trade. All the workers were very trustworthy. I now feel like I am in a new house. Jack was always very responsive to my calls and questions and made the last minute adjustments that I requested. He was also great at giving recommendations about the design of the basement when I was unsure what to do. The work done was top quality as you can see from the attached pictures (the round drain in the floor was not installed by J. K. Complete Renovation). I would absolutely recommend and use J. K. Description of Work: My basement has had water seepage for over 40 years so I decided to have it waterproofed and remodeled. I had two weeks to have the basement gutted and prepared for the water proofers. I searched Angie's list for a company that could tear down and take care of every aspect of remodeling. J. K. Complete Remodeling & Construction had very good ratings and customer reviews so I contacted them. I spoke with Jack (Jacek) who was very pleasant and professional. He came out to my house within a few days to take a look and give me an estimate. Jack gave me a fair estimate, kept in contact with me, and answered all of my questions right away so I hired his company. I explained to him that I had one week to have the basement gutted, electrical outlets installed, and a clean out put on the main sewage stack pipe. He sent his guys out on the day scheduled and they took care of everything. Because he already had other renovations to complete, we agreed that my renovation would start in 3 weeks. When it was time for my renovation, Jack visited my house again to review the plans for my basement and upstairs bathroom renovation. Then my renovation began. Jack called me every week to let me know who would be arriving at my house and what project they would be working on. The renovation took about 8 weeks. I had to supply all fixtures, tile, and grout except for the recessed lights, basic outlets & switches, vents, and door knobs. The basement was framed out, electrical outlets & light switches changed, new electrical box, recessed lights, removed grease trap upon request, new pipes in laundry & wash room, insulated walls, installed dry wall, reconfigured bathroom to make it larger,separated laundry room from boiler room from wash room, tiled throughout, hung doors, added trim, installed oak stairs, painted, installed all fixtures, etc. In the upstairs bathroom they gutted all walls, framed, green boarded, & dry walled all walls, re-tiled floor & walls, changed out piping in tub, revamped electrical and installed outlet, trimmed doors & windows, painted, and installed all fixtures.

 + 4 moreThey stick to what they say they're going to do. After they finished the entire job, I had someone else install the carpet. The carpet installers said that doors needed to be removed and cut shorter in order for the carpet to be installed and the doors to work properly. JK came on a Saturday and corrected the issue for me so the area would be ready for my party that weekend. They truly did a great job. They stayed with in budget and finished within our expected time frame. The owner, Jack, was very responsive and returned every call and voicemail I left. I would recommend them to my friends and neighbors.

Other contractors could learn a lesson from his professionalism. Upon a approval of the job, he set a date for the work to be done. His crew was even slightly early to begin the work on the date scheduled. Crew members were polite and professional. They worked efficiently and completed the job in approximately 4 hours. The owner Jacek called me after the job to thank me for my business and to ask what I thought of the crew and the work done. I would not hesitate to use J K remodeling again.

 + -1 moreServices were not selected this time, but Jacek is on my list for future work I recommend making a list of what you want to do because as the discussion moves forward, there is so much to talk about that you will find a wish/needs list valuable. It helps in the contractor's pricing and eliminates surprises when the quote comes in. Be sure to request the quote in writing along with the detail of work to be done before you make a decision or writing a contract. Jacek would have been ready to do just that which would have been a positive deciding factor for us.
Description of Work: Jacek came out on request for an estimate on remodeling our master bathroom. He was very helpful and responsive in every way. His detail explanations helped us understand what we needed to do. As a customer who had not been through this process before, Jacek was an invaluable resource. While I did not choose him this time due to some readjustment on our plans, I beleive he would have done a job we could be proud of. He is easy to talk to and even more important, he listens to what you have to say- so the bathroom would have been our thoughts with his assistance. Too many times, contractors want to redo your design not because of limitations but because that is what they know Jacek will be a future choice for us and I would recommend him based on our meeting. His price was reasonable so that too is a positive.

 + 8 moreFantastic overall. Pros: The workers were polite and responsive. When we had the glass walls installed for the shower, we were told the shower was perfectly plum. They did a excellent job on the titling. Cons: Upon further inspection, the paint was applied thinly in some areas. They used a cheap roller in the bathroom causing lots of fuzz in the paint. There were a few nails that popped up through the Spackle. A few of the workers through their cigarette butts (dozens) all over our back yard.
Description of Work: Our basement was unfinished (house built in 1920s). Jack and his employees/contractors completed all of the plumbing, electrical, wall construction, drywall, painting, etc. Rooms included a work room, laundry room, storage pantry, rec room and closets. They also built a full bathroom. All floors were tiled.

Description of Work: We had them raise a wall about 20 inches to make it more safe for kids. During the time they were working I noticed some water in my bathroom. They removed the toilette and we saw that the subfloor was rotted. They replaced the subfloor, installed brand new hard wood and installed wanscotting in the bathroom. Excellent job!

 + -1 moreGreat experience, Ralph rocks. Had some issues with old electric because the house was built in 1927, but they were addressed after consulting with me. Also, not a single wall in my kitchen is plumb, and they did a great job working around that. I had another company install crown molding in a bathroom for me and they didn't do half the job that Jack's crew did in the kitchen. Excellent finish carpentry.
Description of Work: Jack's crew partially gutted my kitchen, including enlarging a doorway into the dining room, re-wired, re-plumbed, refinished plaster walls, added additional soffits, installed new cabinets, sink, faucet, stove, micro, fridge, lots of lighting, crown molding, tile, and paint. We saved one row of original hutch cabinets. Price includes labor and small materials like crown molding, paint, can lights, misc. needed for plumbing and electric and patch work. Had a granite company install countertops.

 + 2 moreI searched on Angie's list for the appropriate company with a good rating. Rang the number but it was an answering service so I did not leave a message. JK call back a short while later and we talked about the requirement and arranged for a visit. On the visit JK looked at the job and quickly gave me an estimate of $1,100 and suggest it would take 2/3 days. I said this was a little more than expected, we aggreed on $1,000 and I would get the paint. I agreed to call when I was happy to schedule the work. There was no pressure and JK is is a pleasant chap. I called a couple of weeks later and we scheduled the job. JK and one of his chaps arrived at the correct time on the agreed day and both unloaded the materials. JK asked for a deposit on the first day which was a reasonable request. His chap worked hard all day and the progress looked very good so I paid 25% at the end of the first day. Day two the chap arrived as agreed and worked hard all day and finished the job on the second day. I inspected the work and was very pleased so I paid the balance in full. In summary they did a very good job, in fact the did it faster than expected and were very good at clearing up and leaving things in very good order. Rubbish was removes and furniture re-placed. They even painted areas that were not strictly in the original request. Very pleased and cannot hear the next door TV any more.
Description of Work: The people next door to our condo have their TV against our bedroom wall and I needed to improve the sound insulations. We had a new false wall built with insulation to block out the sound. The room as also repainted in two colors.

 + -1 moreGreat! Jack and his workman Ralph were on time and on budget. Their skill, speed, attention to detail and responsiveness to customer requests was perfect. We used JK Remodeling about a year before when they did a complete basement remodel, including painting. Their paint job was great and their workmanship in all remodeling areas is outstanding. We would highly recommend them. Jack is honest, listens well, communicates quickly and makes sure the job gets done to the customer's satisfaction. This is way remodeling and painting should be. We will definitely use JK again for other work that arises.
Description of Work: Remodeling of existing guest bathroom, including removing old tire floor and tub surround tile, removal of soffits above bathtub and sink, complete installation of new tile on floor and complete shower (owner provided tile and grout), removal and replacement of double vanity sink faucets, and all shower and tub hardware (owner provided), moving can lights above sink, installation of owner provided combo ceiling fan and light, repainting entire bathroom and ceiling (owner provided paint).

 + -1 moreJack and his crew did a great job! They accommodated our request date for when the work would start based on anticipated delivery date of the flooring. Homeowner purchased the bamboo flooring and Jack himself picked up the material from the warehouse and delivered it inside the house (for a small fee) and opened all the cartons to acclimate the wood to inside humidity and temperature a few days before the actual work started. His crew of two people (Mike and Art) were great to interact with and they patiently listened to all homeowner questions and honored all requests made of them during the installation process which took about 8 days. They completely removed all existing tiles and the underlying glue/grout (which is a very laborious process) without damaging the sub-flooring underneath or the baseboard trim. We were amazed at how good a job they did. They also cleaned up at the end of each day and hauled the trash away. They put up plastic covering all around the work area so that no dust would leave the work area. They also moved all furniture around various rooms during the installation and they were very careful not to damage anything and covered all furniture with sheets. The floor installation was very professionally done and Mike's experience in doing such work is immediately obvious. We had a section of the floor that was sagging due to the the underlying joist weakness. Jack and his team did their best to level it out as much as they could without resorting to costly sub-floor repair which we were not prepared to take on at the time. The result is that it is much better than before, but not completely eliminated. They also fixed squeaks in the sub-floor by properly screwing them in before the installation. They reused shoe moulding whenever they could and also installed new shoe moulding in the kitchen area. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and we would not hesitate to use Jack's team again or recommend him to friends and family.

 + -1 moreOur experience with Jack, the owner, and Paul, the primary laborer, went very smoothly. I had two other Angie's List service award winners in to provide quotes and suggestions on how to improve the bathroom. Jack's quote was the lowest of the three quotes received, by approximately $500-$750. Jack was always prompt in returning my phone calls prior to the start of construction. Paul was the primary laborer for our project. He did everything by himself until it was time to grout the tile and install the vanity and fixtures. Paul had great attention to detail and his experience with bathroom remodeling allowed him to offer good suggestions on the design/layout of our bathroom. We certainly grew to trust Paul's opinion very quickly. Once Paul started the project he worked on it until it was done---he was at our house everyday, except Sundays, until everything was complete. While our project was a small one--our labor costs were around $4500 and total cost of materials (tile, grout, vanity, fixtures) was around $4000--JK Complete made it a priority and clearly valued our business. I would gladly recommend them to friends and family.
Description of Work: JK Complete came in after the bathroom was gutted by the homeowner. They installed subfloor, expanded and rebuilt a shower, insulated walls, and hung drywall. New glass tile floor was installed throughout the bathroom and shower floors. Ceramic tile was installed on the walls to approximately 42" outside of the shower, and within the shower was installed to the ceiling. They reinstalled the light fixtures (electricity had been done several years ago) and toilet, and installed a new vanity.
