J K Complete Remodeling & Construction Inc

Based on positive Angie's List reviews and my ease of conversation with Jacek, I decided to use JCK. What began as a basement remodel project to create a better use of our space became so much more. We strived to integrate the main level with the basement so that it felt more like two floors. The upstairs being early 1900's bungalow. The downstairs being modern. The benefit of using a guy like Jacek is that we had a rough idea of what we wanted rather than set plans. This enables us to adjust on the fly based on what we found along the way. That is not to say that there were not contentious moments, but in the end we worked things out. Hats off to the team - Paul, Richard, Michael, Ralph, and others. They're pretty good. They're prompt in providing their service. Their work is quality and the price is reasonable. The proposal is detailed enough to know exactly what to expect.

My family and I are very happy and pleased with how our bathroom came out!  Jack was a pleasure to deal with, and Paul (Pawel) did all the work for us.  He followed our design completely, and our vision was realized!  Paul was very methodical, conscientious, and paid attention to every detail.  He also provided useful and creative suggestions when we needed it.  It shows in the nice work that he did for us!  The work area was cleaned before he left every day, and everything was spotless when the project was completed.  
The project took about 14 working days (though Saturdays were short work days) / three calendar weeks to complete the project.  They worked with my  work schedule, so that really helped.  The project was completed on budget with no surprises or additional fees. On top of JK's fee, we spent just over $2k for the tile, cabinets, plumbing and electrical fixtures to give you a better idea of the project costs.

Note that I still need to complete some things that I do myself (e.g. door trim, toilet roll holder) that weren't part of JK's scope.
All in all, we highly recommend JK Complete Remodeling, and we WILL use them in the future!

Jack and his crew were a pleasure to deal with.  I wish I would have found him years ago.  I have gone through nightmares with
contractors in the past, and was expecting the same.  Jack was nothing like other contractors I have dealt with.  He was quick to respond to any questions I had, and went out of his way to be accommodating.  His crew was punctual, pleasant, and hard working. 
I would use Jack again in a heartbeat, and I highly recommend him and his crew.  Hire Jack, you will not be sorry!!

I am not going to reiterate what most of the previous reports have detailed. This report is no exception.
Richard did a great job. He came on time stayed on at least until 5:30 PM or even until 8 PM one day. He clearly knows what he is doing. Yes, he does not speak great English, smokes more than I would want and grumbles a bit about how the work at hand is more than he bargained for. In the end, he did a great job with the tiling, electrical and plumbing.

As for Jacek, he gave me a detailed contract, never pressurized me into giving him the job. He has consistently returned each of my 21 odd calls I made to him through the project. I had given a window of Feb 15-28 within which to complete the job and largely got it done within that time frame. He even did my back splash in the kitchen for $250 which is a bargain and a job very well done. There are few minor things I needed fixed after the job was done and he sent Richard to fix all the issues.

In summary, a conscientious contractor with a workaholic team. The best deal for me so far on AL.

Great - no issues.  We felt comfortable with the workers here by themselves, they had free access to our home.  They were polite, professional, and cleaned up every night after themselves.  They arrived promptly, at time promised and worked non-stop. Plus they were tolerant of our dog and very kind.  We needed our shower done before the entourage of out of town family coming for Thanksgiving.  Jack did a wonderful job of meeting our unrealistic deadline and did a GREAT JOB!

I wanted to remodel our basement to create a bright living space for our daughter and her family to share with us when they moved back to Illinois from out of state.

I had Eric Mullendore Architects draw up plans and then got bids from a number of firms. We liked the thoroughness of JK Complete Remodeling and Construction's bid. We were not disappointed. Jack and his crew were very responsive and punctual. All the work whether electrical, plumbing or finish carpentry was done with care resulting in a the finished basement we had hoped for. Friends who stopped by during the process noted that they had never seen a work site so clean at the end of every day.

The time frame for completing the project needed to be sped up because of the start time for my daughter's job in Chicago. Jack was able to finish what needed to be done in order for the move to happen - which I know wasn't easy. We really appreciate the hard work and craftsmanship the results of which we now get to enjoy.

I would definitely use JK Complete Remodeling and Construction again.

Overall I am very happy with the project and it is really like we have moved into a new home.  Through out the process Jack was extremely flexible to changes we made and always very responsive when we called.  Any issues were cleared up quickly and it was evident that Jack wanted to leave us happy with the work. Work was carried out smoothly and regularly throughout the process and Jack broke down the payments into seven installments due upon completion of each portion of the job which frankly instilled a lot of confidence. JK Complete Remodeling and Construction was an excellent value and I would definitely use him for any future remodels.

Jack responded promptly, provided a quote immediately, wrote up a contract, and began work within weeks. I had enough time to pick out all supplies I wanted, and then completed the job right on time.  Jack was very efficient and produced quality work.

We were very pleased with the service we received from this company.  After receiving estimates from several highly reviewed providers on Angie's list we decided to go with JK.  We had the major components of the bathroom thought through, but needed some help in the finishing details.  Jack and his employees were extremely helpful in providing recommendations. 

The workers were very professional and polite.  Being right in between all of our bedrooms we were concerned about the potential mess, but they did a great job and cleaned up every day when they were done.  The attention to detail was fantastic.  All of the subway tiles were laid perfectly.  We were initially not happy about the layout of the tiles in the marble floor they took them up and re-laid them.  In the end everything turned out perfectly.

I'm a little late in writing my review, but in 2010, we decided we wanted to add a bathroom to the finished attic of our 110+ year old Victorian home.  It was not an easy undertaking due to the age of the house and the pitch of the roof up there.  We got several estimates, and JK was by far the most fair.  Jack had a great design ideas and his staff executed beautiful and quality work.  They were always on time and every morning they spend time and lay out tarp on my floors and 2 flights of stairs in order to keep things as clean as possible.  They took them up every night when they were done.  I told them they could save time and energy by just leaving them there for the next day, but they were very conscientious and told us they did not mind doing it every day.  In the end, it looked better than we even imagined it.  Amount spent was Jk's labor cost plus the cost of materials which we provided.

We found J.K. Complete Remodeling and Construction, Inc. on Angie's List.  As a Realtor and landlord, we only get contractors/repair people from Angie's List (we love you, Angie!).  I called the company owner, Jack Kowalczyk, and he met us at our rental property the next day.  Jack was prompt.  Returned phone calls.  He's very polite, punctual, and very helpful.  We're experienced real estate investors and immediately knew that he was knowledgeable and also experienced.  He quoted us a very fair price.  We didn't even seek another opinion we were so pleased with him and his willingness to work with us and his fair price. 

Jack stated the job would take 2+ days; it was completed in 2.  He showed up on time as did his assistant.  Also found time to repair the front door.  We have recommended Jack and his company to all our Realtor colleagues/family/friends.

Jack and his crew were very professional.  The crew was on-time every day.  They paid attention to detail and always made sure we were on the same page, especially after we made some changes to the original plan.  The estimate was very straightforward and there were no surprises with our final bill.  They finished the project quickly even though we had several holidays while the project was ongoing.  Our basement now looks wonderful!  I would definitely hire JK Construction again.

Jack and his crew did an excellent job remodeling my mothers bathroom. Updated and made it more user friendly for an elderly person. He stayed within the budget I had set and stayed on schedule even with the holidays approaching, finishing just before Christmas Eve.
I will definitely use him again for future work at her house.

We were looking for an honest and reliable contractor as we had two bad experiences (prior to belonging to Angie's List).  JK Complete Remodeling & Construction had a good reputation so we interviewed them along with three other companies. Jack (Jacek) from JK was knowledgeable, thorough and responsive. His prices were comparable to one other bid, and slightly lower than 2 others. We chose JK Remodeling primarily because of our confidence in Jack after speaking with him. Our confidence was confirmed and rewarded by JK's work. Jack was always very responsive, polite and patient in explaining things, open to working with us on changes, and helpful in making suggestions. He always delivered what he said he would, and he and his workers were unfailingly professional. We had to re-do the electrical in the basement to get everything up to code after the previous owner left things a mess. We also moved a toilet in the master bath and then added tile flooring. JK also re-did some drywall and painted. Jack handled all the inspections and everything passed without problems. JK Remodeling also handled a few smaller jobs that we decided to have done (as often happens with remodeling) and they did so quickly even though they were not originally scheduled to be done. We could not be more pleased with working with JK Remodeling. My wife was home most of the time, and she was really happy with the respect for the house and the way the workers cleaned up after each day's work. Jack and JK exceeded our expectations in every aspect -- it's what working with a contractor should be! We'll definitely call on JK Remodeling again in the future whenever we want more work done.

UPDATE: Months after the job was done, a few problems arose that were unrelated to the work done by JK, but as a result of work done by another contractor we hired before JK for a job. JK came out right away and fixed the problems right away. Jack and his crew really are outstanding.

The house was built four years ago so we knew how difficult construction could be.  This basement experience was so much better than our experience when the house was built (by a different builder). Ralph, who did most of the work on this project, was very conscientious and took great pride and care to get everything exactly right. In the bathroom, we had selected an onyx (like marble) tile that was so delicate it practically broke in my hands, but Ralph installed it perfectly. Ralph worked incredibly hard and was extremely reliable and easy to have around (especially in light of the fact that I work from home so I was often just one floor away). We were on a very tight schedule because I needed this project to be done before Thanksgiving, and it was done on time--exactly when Jack said it would be. The project also came in on budget, with no surprises. The cost was entirely reasonable. Apart from the luxury floor tile in the bathroom, we were on a very tight budget. Jack managed the entire project very well and provided expert guidance for the initial floor plan and related decisions. We are delighted with the results and would recommend Jack and his company very highly to anyone who is considering any type of remodeling project.

Jack's estimate was 4 pages of detailed work, with a payment schedule. He started 3 weeks after I signed the contract as we agreed. Because I had to wait for a roofing contractor to finish repair on a leak above the living room, Jack's crew had to start the project out of sequence. Still, they moved ahead every day including Saturdays. The knowledge and skills in his workers is advanced and detail oriented. The scope of work as mentioned above also included the additional work listed below (add $760):

• fix a broken shower faucet.
• Install a utility sink in the laundry room.
• install corner cabinets in dining room to appear built in.
• correct improper install of built-in oven.

Jack and his crew Paul, Michael, David did everything very well and were easy to work with and have in our home. The painters Peter, Michael and Mark were also extremely professional and seasoned painters who took great pride in their work. The tile work is stunning and the details in every job they completed is perfect. I highly recommend J.K. Complete Remodeling & Construction. I will definitely use them in the future for other repairs and upgrades to my home. Thank you Jack and great job!

They do very nice work.  The person dedicated to the job arrived in a timely manner each day, worked all day until the job was complete.  Jacek was responsive to phone calls and questions.

The job went very well. They started on October 24 and finished on Nov 27. The various workers arrived on time and worked steadily throughout the day. Jack was on site regularly and kept us informed of what was happening next. He was very flexible about any changes we requested along the way and was responsive to our request to be finished by early December. He never tried to up sell us but if we wanted to upgrade anything, he accommodated our requests. The workers were also very good about cleaning up after themselves each day and taking away garbage that accumulated as a result of the work. 

The job came in at the price quoted with no hidden charges or additions we were unaware of.

Everything went pretty much as planned and by the contract.  There were some very small adjustments to the contract for extra lights and cable outlets but very minor.  The project took about five weeks.  The person that did most of the framing, trim, painting was a very nice older gentleman that did excellent work.  Very skilled.  He doesn't speak English very well so communicating was a little rough at times that may have led to some minor misunderstandings.

Most of the communication was with the owner Jacek.  No real issues.  Nice guy.  Can be reached by phone anytime.  Leave a voice mail if he's not around and he returns the calls promptly.  He was out of town a week or two during the project but no issues really since his guys were self sufficient.  He stopped by to check out the work periodically and to pick up the payments.  :)

It's been several weeks since completion of the project, no issues found with electrical or anything.  We'll use them again for future projects.

We received three estimates for the job.  One was way out of line and the other was comparable to Jack's.  I just felt that Jack was straight forward and understood what I wanted.  The entire job was completed in 7 1/2 working days with no cost overages.  We purchased all materials ourselves, and Jack provided all construction materials including wainscoting, which he also purchased.  They were on time, professional and cleaned up every night.

When the job was complete, we had a short list of a few things that needed additional attention.  Jack sent someone within a few days, and he fixed everything on my list.

I could not be more pleased and in fact have recommended him to a friend, who has also hired him.  As an interior designer, I am pretty particular, and Jack and crew met all of my standards.

I'm very pleased with the quality of the work. Jack is very pleasant to work with. The worker he sent (John) is highly skilled and detail oriented. I have more work in other areas that needs to be done in the future, will definitely call Jack again.

We had 4 different contractors come in to quote the job listed above, and of all of them Jack from JK Remodeling came back to us with what we considered the best quote overall.  He was not the least expensive (one other was cheaper) but we were impressed with his attention to detail, the thoroughness of his quote and his ability to answer the questions we had about the project.  Others were way out of the ballpark on price, or just not as organized as we would like (estimate scrawled with pencil on a piece of paper ripped from a spiral notebook.  Jack, on the other hand seemed well organized and eager to do the job.

The project was quoted to last about 7 weeks and Jack's team completed the job on schedule.  There was rarely a day that there was not someone on the job.  All of the people Jack had on the project from electricians to plumbers to laborers were friendly and focused on the job.  There were some days where we did not know who would be coming or when, but any time we would call Jack he would answer or call back within minutes to let us know what was going on that day.

All in all the project went pretty much as planned.  There were a few instances where Jack's people would uncover an unforeseen problem, there were also a few instances where I had to have Jack's people correct some minor mistakes or issues that I had found, and there were several times where I added or changed minor details of the project.  But no matter what the issue, Jack was very flexible and never had a problem fixing or re-doing or changing anything during the project. 

I would definitely recommend JK Remodeling to anyone who is planning a remodeling project in their home.  jack runs a very well organized, reasonably priced, professional, good quality business.

I am very pleased with the work done by J. K. Complete Remodeling and Construction.  Everything was very clean, straight- lined, elegant, and professional.  Whatever design idea you have, J. K. Complete can create it for you.  The work was top notch.  Paul, Andy, and all the other workers are very skilled in their trade.  All the workers were very trustworthy.  I now feel like I am in a new house.  Jack was always very responsive to my calls and questions and made the last minute adjustments that I requested.  He was also great at giving recommendations about the design of the basement when I was unsure what to do.  The work done was top quality as you can see from the attached pictures (the round drain in the floor was not installed by J. K. Complete Renovation).  I would absolutely recommend and use J. K. Complete Renovation & Construction again!

I was very pleased with the job.  Jack was very prompt with providing a bid and beginning the work - unlike another vendor who jerked me around by refusing to provide a bid until I shared what Jack was quoting me.  I would certainly recommend JK Remodeling & Construction to others!
