It was terrible and a waste of money. The man came in and we asked him to fix something and he said he does not have time for that. He did not do a good job. He was there for probably an hour at the most. He always said no, he can’t do it because he does not have time. Then I just said forget it and he does have no use for us.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that we purchased. It went fine. They were efficient and got the job done.

It took a while for them to come in, they were very busy. We paid more than the big deal because we didn't want the bathroom they wanted; we wanted to pick out our own stuff. We purchased all of the material ourselves and just asked them to do the work and then, we paid them. They did it very professional job; it was really a nice job. They were meticulous and made the bathroom get more beautiful.

Average service.  He was on time.  He did what was requested. The rough work was done but he did not sand it down and paint it since it needed to cure.  So it is hard to tell how good a job...

I purchased the $99 Big Deal for 3 hours of handyman work back when they were called HomeDM Remodeling.  Our front door was starting to sag and not latch properly and I wanted assistance helping to re-square it and to replace an poorly installed and horribly leaking exterior door in our dining room.  I'm moderately handy around the house and thought I would help with the re-leveling of the front door prior to his arrival so I removed the screen door.  Turns out it was not necessary and I actually wasted time.  What I thought would take well over an hour took about 5 minutes to fix.  He removed the mounting screws on the hinge side and used a long crow bar to lift that side of the frame up about 3/4 of an inch.  We used my table saw to cut a custom shim to hold it in place before re-installing the mounting screws.  He clearly knows his business and the tricks of the trade!  I was allowed to help out with getting the previously removed screen door reattached.  We then spent the rest of the time removing a horrible exterior door and installing a previously purchased one.  We can, once again, eat in our dining room without baking in the summer and freezing in the winter!

It was difficult for contractor because three siblings with different ideas were involved, but they were very cooperative.

I decided not to use them again in the future because they were unresponsive.

Theydid finally call me back and said they had left me a message several days before that they couldn't make the appointment due to a family issue.  I believe them, but think they left the message on some other number as I had nothing on my machine. I give them credit for trying, but I wish they had kept trying until actually reaching me in person.

Overall, the experience was positive. Derek and his crew were nice, professional, and punctual, once the job was started. Our new bathroom looks wonderful, especially for the outstanding price. We would definitely use them again, especially if it was such a great deal.  The work was completed in a very timely manner.
Derek offered to have tile installed on our walls as well, and did not charge us extra for the labor, which was incredibly generous, especially given the deal we were already getting, and it looks great!
Especially given that we have a baby, I was expecting that having contractors in our house for a week would be a nightmare, but they were as unobtrusive as possible.  Also, we only have one bathroom, so they made sure that we had a toilet in every night while the work was being done, which was a huge plus.
In my experience, some companies offer big discounts to get business but then act as though they are put out by having to provide their service, and only do the minimum.  This was not our experience with Home DM.  They treated us as a valued client, and Derek told us several times that he wanted us to be completely satisfied and happy with our bathroom.
We only had a few minor issues:
There was about a week's delay from our original planned start time, due to a delay with the project before ours and in getting our village permits.  Fortunately, my husband was able to change the days he had taken off work for the job.
When the village did their inspection, there was one aspect of the plumbing that was not up to code and had to be changed.  Overall, it did not change the end product or delay the work, but if the inspector hadn't required it to be fixed, it might have caused an issue when we sell our house or possibly caused an issue later with the plumbing.
My husband said that one day a worker left the gate to our fenced-in back yard open.  If he had not noticed in time, our dogs could have gotten out and ran into the street (so not a big deal, but could have been huge).
We had a little trouble communicating our wishes regarding choice of vanity, fixtures, etc. to Derek.  In the end, we got everything just as we wanted, but at the time, the process was a little bit stressful.  This would not have been an issue if we had gone with the standard materials that are included in the deal.  As it was, it would make things easier if they had an organized system for picking out materials for people who want to select their own.  He seemed to sometimes not understand quite what we were asking or telling him, but we eventually got it figured out.

Owner and installer arrived on time.  I paid 50% deposit. Owner left, and installer completed work while I was at work.
I returned later that afternoon. Owner returned also. Installer had completed the job.
Installer did not speak english, therefore all communication had to be done through the owner.

We love our new kitchen ! The work was done beautifully and efficiently , and has been admired by neighbors and friends.

I used them through Angie’s List offer on a daily deal thing and it was $99 for three hours. He certainly seemed very good at what he does. He seemed to know what he was doing. I get the feeling that whatever I needed to be done around my house if it needs to be fixed then I call him and he would know how to do it. There was a bit a problem like he arrived late because his GPRS was wrong and came an hour late. He was obviously very rushed. Even though I purchased the three hour deal he was here only for two hours and me basically I said to go-a-head as he was obviously so rushed to get to the next job even though I didn’t have anything else to be done around the house. From that perspective I think that there were many customers who responded to the Angie’s List deal and sometimes it creates too much work but he was very nice guy. His wife who does all the phone work and everything was very professional as well. Even though it wasn’t his fault he came late.

Derreck's guys Walter & Mike were great and always showed up on time and were respectful of the house and laid down runners to help from tracking dirt through the house.  Our house is over a 100 years old  with plaster wall so we really appreciated the effort to try and contain the dust from the demolition.  The guys were really hard workers. They were never idle which was why they delivered the project in 3 weeks.  After each day we would inspect the work and talked to them the next about any questions we had.  They always addressed every question.  If we left a message at the office.  Maggie always promptly called us back.  

This deal was truly a deal.  We are ecstatic with the results and loved working with Derreck and the team.  Remodeling is always stressful but with them it was as easy as it gets.

Derek was very attentive and the Home Dm Crew gets an "A+" for an excellent job.  We are very happy with the work they did.  Derek took the time to talk to us about the whole process before we started.   During the project he made sure we were informed about everything.  After the project was done Derek gave us a couple of days to look over the bathrooms, to make sure we were satisfied, and we are.   It has been 1 month and we have found that everything is to our liking.

They did absolutely what they promised they would do.  I am very satisfied.  Derek offered lots of ideas, which allowed us to decide which route we were comfortable with.  It made my kitchen look magnificent.  Thank you Home Dm.

They were very professional.

It wasn't a satisfactory experience. He was the sloppiest contractor I've ever used. He left tiles and garbage behind and I had to call him back. He didn't use plastic to close the room off so I had a thin film of fine dust everywhere. He also didn't line up the tile quite right. He used my broom and ruined it. I had to clean the excess grout out of my bathtub. There is still some unfinished work and I don't want him to come back out. I will hire someone else to complete the bathroom.

Derek and Maggie are friendly and concerned that you get exactly what you want.  Quality work at a very reasonable price.

.  My old bathroom had a small corner shower that was too small and I wanted a larger shower stall.  I had a double sink which I could do without and a long glass block panel window in one corner on the wall with the stall.  Angie's list to the rescue.  I found a super deal for half price for a bathroom remodel from Home-DM Remodeling Co.  I read all the comments made from previous customers and hoped they were honest.  Even at half price up front that's a lot of money.  I took a chance.

Derek and Maggie (owners) are a perfect team.  Derek came out to look at the project and said he could remodel at the agreed price and we set a date to start.  The first day went smooth  - they came on time and put drop cloths down in the walking and working area.  They cleaned up after every working day and did not leave a mess.  Every day was the same.  I watched the work being done and was pleased with the way it progressed in a very professional manner.  Derek would pop in from time to time and bring material
and check up and was available for questions and concerns.  I now have a very large beautiful shower stall and one sink and I love it.

When the project was complete Maggie called and asked if everything was ok and asked if I had any concerns.  There were a few minor things that Derek came out and fixed immediately.  All in all it was a very pleasant experience (if you can call remodeling pleasant) and I would not hesitate to use this company again or recommend them to my friends.

I purchased an Angie's Deal for $99 for 3 hours worth of work.  They came out and gave me an estimate on the work I needed that included the $99.  I had back porch stairs that needed repair and lattice work, and a garage door that needed replacing.   They showed up on time to meet with me for the estimate and then scheduled a date for completing the work.  I was not in town when they did the work so can't say how long it took them to do the job, but everything was completed.  They also came out and completed the work on the day it snowed and was very cold.  I hadn't expected that.  They followed up to see if I was satisfied with the work and only then sent me an invoice.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for 3 hours of handyman time.  I do not recall exactly how much I paid.

Derek arrived on time and we reviewed the work to be completed.  Then I drive him to Home Depot, where we selected a new fan and I bought the other parts.  Once we returned to the house, Derek did a terrific job of performing all the work.  He is exceptionally fast in completing work and very professional and friendly.

Of the approximately 5 handymen I have hired, most through Angie's List, Derek was the best!  Based on my conversations with him, I am confident that Derek could handle almost any project, from minor repairs to major remodeling.  I would recommend him to anyone and am willing to discuss my experiences at 630 418-8322.

I used the Angie's list  Big Deal for three hours of handyman services to replace my garbage disposal and sump pump.  I purchased and had ready all of the necessary materials.  Derek came on time and was so quick that he had both jobs completed, checked for leaks and perfect operation and cleaned up in a little over one hour.  He would have done more, but he completed my to-do list.

My only disappointment is that since he is so good, it took longer than i would have liked to schedule this appointment.

Derek was right on time, got right to work, had all the tools necessary to do the tasks I needed and even improvised when we didn't have the supplies to mount our bookshelf (he cut down a piece of wood we had).  He was so quick that I ran out of things for him to do before the three hours were up.  Darn!  I would definitely use Derek again.  Had I known that he did remodeling, I may have used him for our basement but we already had someone by the time I met him.

I bought one of the Big Deals for 3 hours of handyman services.  Derek came to my house on time...actually he was early and waited for me to get back to the house.  He was VERY fast and completed several jobs in record time.  I only wish I'd put together an aggressive "honey-do-list" because he'd have been able to get through nearly all of them in the 3 hours I paid for.   He finished the jobs and cleaned up after himself.  

He was very professional.  Maggie, his wife handled the scheduling and worked to with me to make an adjustment to the appointment so it was more convenient for me.  

I am already making plans to have them come back and do additional work for me.

He did everything well, except that he was in too big a hurry, abd he made no apparent effort to see to the fact that the holes that he drilled in the windows were opposite one another by measuring before he drilled.

Please see above.  He was on time both days (estimate day and today, for doing the job..  He followed up as promised, via email, and his wife, Maggie, was very good about calling to schedule the initial appointment.  GREAT communication.  OUTSTANDING service!
