Feldco Windows Siding & Doors

If I could afford to replace my Feldco door, I would. I hate it as much today as the day it was installed more than a year ago. Among the issues: * The biggest issue: It doesn't close completely unless you slam it with your shoulder (from the inside) or pull the door knob with all of your weight (from the outside). They've been out four times to address it. It still sucks. (According to Feldco, this isn't a defect -- it's a feature! I can't wait until the doorknob comes off while I'm trying to shut it, and I go flying down a set of stone stairs. Really looking forward to experiencing that feature.) * They told us that the trim would match perfectly. The trim did not match, and on the third visit we were told that trim wasn't even included in our quote. * The installer was the worst! What kind of door installer shows up without a caulk gun? That said, I regret lending him ours because the caulk job sucked. Among other things that sucked with the door install: it was hung crooked and there was a nail/staple sticking out beneath the weather stripping. On the third service call the guy who came out was the one who originally measured, and the first thing he said was, "I told them that this install needed an experienced installer." * Over the winter, the outside door frame started to buckle. The company told us it was our fault because the threshold is on top of pavers and water can seep in, freezing and causing the doorframe to buckle. I'd note that a) I'm not a window and door professional, so this never occurred to me, but maybe it might have been worth mentioning as a potential problem? Also, b) the last door threshold was over these exact same pavers and in ~20 years never buckled. * Also, their customer service people are -- not very customer service oriented at best and possibly worse. My husband -- who has a very Jewish name and who was the one who placed the order -- told a customer service rep that the door install was "******." The customer service person told my obviously Jewish husband that he was Christian and that language is inappropriate. (For the record, I'm Christian and no where in the Bible does it say you can't use the word "******" -- and I fully agree that this was a ****** install and a ****** experience all around.) Hey Feldco, maybe leave religion out of your business, particularly when dealing with customers who are obviously a different religion than you.

We had 2 entry doors and 2 storm doors installed approximately October of 2022. The salesman Ben Boyd was great to deal with when we ordered the doors. Once the doors came in Feldco in Des Plains had them installed. We were very pleased with the work and the technician did a great job. Fast forward to January 12th 2024. The cold weather hit and the family room door is leaking like a sieve. Ice has formed around both sides of the door.. I called our salesman Ben on Sunday January 14th and he called me back. (Great customer service so far). He asked that I send him an email and pictures and a description of the issue. He passed the information on to the service department. Even though I gave my phone number in the email, the service department called my wife. She told me Feldco wants to charge us $129.00 for a service call to check out the issue. I then called the service department and spoke to Amanda who told me the same thing. This is absurd to have to pay for a service call to look at a faulty install or bad door gaskets. I asked to speak to a manager who proceed to tell me the must charge a few to come out. He offered to lower the fee to $79.00. I declined and said I was not will to pay a service fee for a door that leaks so badly ICE is forming on both sides of the door. Since the door was installed in October of 2022 and is approximately 2 months out of warranty the could not come out to correct the issue unless I paid a service fee. This door has only been opened twice since it has been installed. Very poor customer service from this location. I would not recommend anybody to buy from these people..

I would give a 0 star review if I could. Windows are great HOWEVER the rest is an awful nightmare. The sales guy said carpentry work would be done, and it wasnt done. Whatever the excuse was they DID NOT refund the money that it would have cost to get it done from another company... AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDNT DO IT THEMSELVES. So they wouldnt do it, nor would they refund the amount it would cost to get it done... Shady. Please make sure that you double and triple check everything the sales guy tells you and make sure you get EVERYTHING broken down in pricing before you do ANTHING. The amount they "refunded" me was "their cost" (even thought they couldnt do it afterwards?) which was about half the amount it will not take me to get it done let alone my own time now. Go somewhere else.

We had all the windows in our house replaced by Feldco last December. We were told that 1 picture window had a crack and that it would be installed once the replacement arrived in a few weeks. We're still waiting for that window. The back of the house looks terrible from where the siding was removed around the area where the picture window is supposed to go. What is going on? Last week, we were told that the window was in the warehouse. When will we get this window that was paid for in January??? Worst experience EVER! Terrible people who will cheat you out of your money. They installed the door. The screws pulled out of the wood. They came back and put in longer screws. It pulled away from the wood again. We called them again and made an appointment for them to come out AGAIN! Because of Covid, they pushed our appointment for a month later. In that time, because the screws were pulling out of the wood, the door started to get damaged. Then it wouldn't close. My husband removed the bottom arm, so the door wouldn't damage further. We tried calling, but they didn't answer because offices were closed due to Covid. Then, because of all the storms and rain we got,the wind caught the door and bent the whole frame. My husband removed the whole door the next day and put it in the garage. An inspector came out and said we needed the whole door replaced, not a problem. After that, they refused to return our calls. My husband was calling them every other day for more than 2 weeks. They kept giving us the run around and telling us a manager would call us. Finally, called him. They said the damage was caused by wind, which is act of God, so they don't have to replace it. We said, no, the damage was caused because the screws pulled away from the wall because of poor installation, then exacerbated because they closed due to Covid. They essentially called my husband a liar and said we need to call our insurance because they refuse to replace it. Never use this company. Shoddy work, then blame you when it goes south.

Terrible. The windows leaked, did not fit properly, the screens did not fit. One of them had holes in it. It looked like they were used. My home now has water damage and mold. They have been out several times with no fixes. They have made appointments and not shown up. Do not use FeldCo.

A very bad experience. I ordered the door in October, and to this day, no one has ever come to install the door or answer the phone. All these bad comments are correct and the good ones are false.Feldco is one of the worse windows / door provider.

Update to July 24 review: July 25, 2018 Will from Feldco contacted me today to advise they have thought more about their position and offered to refund the $79 service fee. While my original review is still an accurate description of what happened, Feldco did come to the correct customer response within 24 hours. Customer service cannot be a one set policy for all as each situation is different. Listen to what the customer is telling you and then use common sense to resolve the issue. I appreciate how Feldco ultimately responded and wanted to add this addendum to my original review so that you can evaluate fairly if they warrant your business.

After replacing all windows in our townhouse within the past 3 years at a cost of about $10K, our lower level sliding patio door handle did not work properly. It is a latch you slide up to open and down to latch. It is supposed to stay in the up position until you manually move the lever down to lock. Ours was not staying up when we closed the door in the up position and would drop to the locked position when we closed the door from the outside. Called Feldco July of 2018 and was told there would be a $99 service call or $79 if I paid now. Of course the salesman, John Shannon, went on and on about how great Feldco was about taking care of their customers when we bought them. Service guy comes out, explained the problem and he said, "I think I know what's causing the problem". He took the cover off the lock and pointed to a circular indent on the face of the lock. "See that; there is supposed to be a rubber washer in there that provides friction to keep the lever up. Looks like there was never one there when installed. He then cut a piece from a rubber sheet he brought in, put it where it was supposed to be and the door now works as it should. I called Feldco after he left and requested a return of the $79 service fee since the door was defective from installation. Went through 3 people and ended up with a supervisor, and his response was, "Well, you must have noticed there was a problem when it was installed." The door seemed ok in the beginning and progressively got worse over time until one night we got locked out on the deck. That's when I called for service. This is a company that let a customer who spent $10K with them share an extremely negative experience over a factory defect of a 10 cent part. I would steer clear of these bozos and find a reputable and reliable company for windows. They are not it.

We paid half up front when the first windows were installed. The first half went OK although the windows were not caulked in the inside of the house. The last window took ~6 months to install. It was measured first, then the wrong window was ordered. Measured a second time with the wrong window ordered. It took 4 times before we finally had the right window ordered. We had an install date scheduled and they called the day before to reschedule the last window. My general sense is being customer focused is not their strength. Every time the wrong sized window was ordered and needed a re-measure, this required us to be available. It was a huge hassle and took several months to complete the project.

Excellent service every step through the process.

I wanted them in before Winter came. I was happy with them. The quality of the windows could have been better, but that's about it. I like that they were fast. They had financing options that were fair. They gave me financing that was 2 years same as cash. That's one of the reasons I went with them. That was very helpful seeings that I had just bought a house. It was very easy to go ahead and get it done. They do doors as well. I may go to them as doors as well. I need two doors eventually.

Had the remainder of our windows replaced. First round was 4 yrs ago. Job done wonderfully. Recommend highly. Quality windows. They take great care, especially clean up.

Great experience for the second time. Small job that was caused by a fire in the home next door that melted some siding. Feldco Rep Jack was professional and attentive. The team arriving to install hit a small snag as landlord next door did not open the gate to allow entry as promised. NO worries the team adapted and executed flawlessly

I love the quality of work, and service, that they provide. They were extremely nice, helpful, and did a great job.

All steps of the process were smooth and professional. The replacement doors are beautiful and excellent quality. I had zero problems from beginning to end of the process. Great company! I'd have them do work on my home again in a heart beat! Thank you Feldco for a job well done!

Service was really good. They had a real good crew. Professional and cleaned up after themselves. Windows were awesome. They had a lifetime guaranty.

I purchased windows from Feldco in 2008. I noticed in winter that the house was cooler and I had to keep the thermostat higher. They changed the weather strip on the windows. It didn't make a difference. I even proved to them that their windows were bad with images from a thermal camera. I finally gave up and now have to put plastic on the windows every winter. About two weeks ago, I noticed that two of the windows on my picture window were leaking. They are leaking at the corner of the glass which means all of the gas probably leaked out. I called them today and they want to charge me $69.00 just to inspect it. After that, it is $89.00 an hour because I am out of the 5 year warranty. The only thing they will cover is the window. Why would I pay all of that money to re install crap? My advice is to do some research, read all of the complaints online ( there are alot), and find a company with a better quality product.

The sales person for this project (Peter Pontarelli) is excellent! He came out did an excellent presentation explained in detail what the difference is in the different vinyl sidings and insulation. Told us what the cost would be in dollars and cents. He is professional, courteous, reliable, punctual and knowledgeable. I commend Feldco on this sales person. He is truly an asset to this company

Dealing with Feldco is a chore. They are a large, sales-driven organization that are all about getting the order and initial payment and then getting the order processed through their impersonal service. They had the lowest price and others in my building had used them in the past. It was a huge disappointment. It took 3 visits from sales people to get a good deal. Everyone tried to get the order and each visited required starting from scratch. It took 2 visits to measure the windows. The scheduler called and had planned on a half of day of work. I called the rep and he had it changed to a full day. Clueless. Arrived for the installation and said they couldn't find parking and couldn't park in the alley. Two weeks later another crew parked in the same alley. The installation was shoddy. When they said the work went down to the 2 x 4's I didn't know they would just cap over the existing materials. When I questioned the amount of insulation material they just deflected it. What they really meant was they were going to just cap the area. Left chards of glass all over my balcony and driveway. Sent another person to assess the sloppy work. Another crew came out to replace the molding and caulk. Didn't have the proper molding so had to go to Home Depot. Finally completed. I'll never deal with them again.

Where to begin... 1) 2 windows were mis-measured. Now I have to take another day off work and buy larger room darkening blinds 2) installers broke one window 3) paid half up front, final payment upon completion. They charged my credit card ahead of time. I called my sales guy and he's ducking me. 4) I'm asking for a $200 credit since I have to take another day off and for the blinds (which is a deal for them) no response. I'm very disappointed!!

This is the second time we have used Feldco and we will use them again in the future. They are not only professional but very detailed. All their people - the sales rep, the person who took the exact measurements, and the installers - were prompt, efficient, and good natured. And they all take pains to make sure that you are getting what you wanted.

The whole process was easy and went very smoothly. The door looks great and the installer was very good! I also had windows installed the summer before and that process and the product were both great!

Got their estimate, and were able to agree on what I thought was a good price on 6 high quality double hung windows, 1 sliding window for the kitchen, and a sliding glass door for our patio. A few days later a technician came out to do final measurements, and we were told it would be approximately 2-4 weeks for the custom windows and door to be manufactured and installed. Approximately 1 1/2 weeks later we received a call to schedule for installation, which was then set for 5 days after the call. Told the crew would arrive between 8 and 10 am, and they (crew of 4) arrived at approximately 8:30am. The crew went straight to work and were very thorough, placing drop cloths and plastic throughout the house to keep it as clean as possible. The crew chief took the time to show me how they were installing each window, including the insulation around each window. They met with the building inspector who then gave the OK to go ahead and seal everything up. Everything went as expected, and I was shown how to operate each style of window. The clean-up was done to my satisfaction as well, both inside and out; the job was complete around 3:45pm. The new windows and door all look great!

They did a great job. Cleaned up and quality was very good.
