He was to start on a Monday and cancelled. Said he was going to come the next day at 8am, didn't show until noon. Did only part of the work. Said he wasn't coming back because I wasn't a nice lady, after I made him snacks, drinks and baked him a cake. He argued with me about the project consistantly. The last thing he told me over the phone was to never call him again. Buyers beware - this guy is not a good businessman. I should have checked Angie's List before I decided to use this man.
Description of Work: I needed him to bring up the old flooring that was down to show the nice hardwood underneath.

Very well I am very pleased.
Description of Work: They did a great job. I had my own floors that I got on sale and they were prefinished, so they only had to install them. The floors are absolutely beautiful. The only complaint is I had to remind them to return the furniture and get the old carpet out of the yard and put on the side of the house. They moved everything but I had to remind them. Other than that they did a fantastic job

The owner, Beni, talks a good game. He seems knowledgeable and sincere, and his pricing can't be beat. But buyer beware, you get what you pay for with an ample helping of heartburn. Beni said that his guys would move my furniture on the day that the floors would be refinished. "His guys" consists of Beni (@140 lbs.) and one other guy. They dragged my very expensive sofa down the hallway floor and proceeded to try to push it through three different door openings. The fabric (imported from England) was badly stretched, soiled and torn in places. The top of my dining room table was deeply gauged in several places. My mahogany coffee table was scratched down the side. I stopped Beni before he could pick up my linen covered lounge chair with his filthy hands and asked him not to touch it. Grimy hand prints were left on the walls in my guest bedroom and 3 door frames were damaged so badly that the trim wood had to be replaced. Floor dust covered my walls, cabinets and everything in my cabinets, it would have been helpful if he had covered items on the mantle and countertops with plastic. None of the damage was discovered until after the work was done as I was not able to inspect the work for several hours after he left to allow the finish on the floor to dry. The finish on the floors contained air bubbles in places, hair was permanently affixed to the floor, the coating wasn't evenly spread along the baseboard in the entryway, white flecks of debris are mixed in with top coat by the back door, and there are two rough areas beneath the kitchen cabinets that are raised and contain debris from sanding. I have been contacting Beni for the past 4 months to stand behind his "guarantee" on the work. He repeatedly tells me that he can stop by "next week" to touch up the areas, "no problem." The proposal for the work stated a cost of $760 but two days before the work was to begin I was told that the stain would cost an additional $150. I paid Beni $910 but he will not provide an invoice/receipt for his work. I have called him more than 20 times to request an invoice, I need to submit it for insurance reimbursement. He absolutely will not provide it. I will next contact the Illinois Secretary of State (because it appears that his company is not properly registered), the City of Chicago Department of Business Licensing, and the IRS. DO NOT HIRE THIS BUSINESS!!! I hope to never have to hire ANY contractor again, this has been a nightmare.

My experience with the owner Benni, was the worst ever with any contractors. It was a total nightmare dealing with him. We found him dishonest, and not very good at his job. We gave him a big job to completely refurbish the wood floor of the whole house because his seemingly reasonable bid; however, after he started, he said he miscalculated and demanded $600 more, we immediately agreed because we wanted to keep him happy. He did an OK job, but kind of sloppy. He put down 2 coats instead of 3 coats(water based varnish usually requires 3 coats) and many areas were spotty. Then he refused to throw away garbage from his job--several huge bags of wood dust. So we had to pay $300 to haul them away. Still we agreed to pay him the full amount, but as a compromise, he agreed to come back to put some pieces of wood to on our steps. For that, we supplied him $500 worth of wood which he took away with all the left over stain and varnish and promised to come back. But then the nightmare started, over two years I have been trying to track him down to no avail. He lied to me over and over again, saying he would come "Tuesday", "Thursday", "next week", but never showed up, and never called back to explain or apologize. Then I told him to forget about the job, just give my material back because we were charged $500 for it. He again agreed to drop the wood at ours, many times he gave me very a specific time such as "9am Saturday morning" "6pm Friday evening", but again he never showed up, never bothered to call to explain. I specifically asked him if he still had our wood, he gave me a definite yes, and said, "They were in my garage, I moved them near my car, I will drop them at your house either Friday or Saturday." Another big fat lie. I am seriously angry not so much because of our financial loss--even though $500 is a big amount, I was more mad at being lied over over again. I have some of his phone recording saying, "I wrote the time down on my scheduling book, I will see you Wednesday," and of course not! This guy, Benni, needs to see a psychiatrist. Please, every one, stay away from him!

INITIALLY, BEN WAS VERY RESPONSIVE. HE CAME TO MY UNIT AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE. I AGREED TO THE TERMS OF HIS PROPOSAL, AND REQUESTED THE NECESSARY PAPERWORK FOR MY CONDO'S MANAGEMENT OFFICE. I CALLED HIM ABOUT EVERY OTHER DAY FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS. HE KEPT TELLING ME THAT HE WAS VERY BUSY AND COULDN'T FIND A PHONE NUMBER FOR HIS INSURER. HE WAS VERY DEFENSIVE AND BORDERED ON RUDE. I FINALLY LEFT A MESSAGE WITH A DEADLINE AND NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN.
Description of Work: NO WORK PERFORMED. RECEIVED ESTIMATE FOR HARDWOOD FLOORING THROUGHOUT 2 BDR. CONDOMINIUM.
