3D Brick Paving is a TOP NOTCH company and I would use them again without question! I had the pleasure of working with Mike D?aiello (owner) and his son Alex. I received estimates from at least 5 other competitors in the area, as the work was quite extensive and involved repairing a large portion of my existing driveway and sidewalk. After Alex provided an initial quote, Mike called me to discuss the job and gave me some suggestions. Before I even signed a contract, Mike came to my house twice to review his proposal and test some cleaning solutions ? again, before I had even paid him a dime. For comparison, one of the other highly rated companies on Angie?s List came out and told me that ?he didn?t really do repair work (even though his profile said he did), but he?d still quote it?; like he was doing me a favor. That same company never even provided me the quote! Needless to say, I was already impressed with 3D for their level of service before the work even began. Once I officially hired 3D and they began work, I found them to be very professional, friendly, on-time and hard working. During the course of the repair, we found that a number of bricks had significantly deteriorated. 3D not only worked with Unilock to get replacement bricks, they ended up getting the bricks at NO COST. Mike and his team were extremely responsive during the entire repair, up to the very end. The result; my driveway, sidewalk and patio look amazing! I have worked with a number of contractors, but Mike and the 3D team are truly exceptional.

3D Brick Paving was extremely responsive, thorough, and professional. Pete was very helpful during his initial visit and when we chose materials. Work was done quickly and looks great!

We had a paver brick patio installed in the front of our house. 3D submitted the permits with our city and apparently they never read the permits once they received them. Elmhurst has many rules and regulations on water drainage etc due to the flooding problems that Elmhurst has. Because of this flooding issue the city required that a 6 foot by 6 foot hole (drywell) be dug in our front yard. The failure to include this drywall would have resulted in a failed inspection immediately. They never read the permit and if fact the owner instructed me to simply place the permits in our mailbox in case the city comes looking for them. The person who actually noticed the drywall was missing was our landscaper. He came out near the end of the project to discuss the new landscaping that would be done around the new patio. He is from Elmhurst and does work primarily in Elmhurst so he is familiar with the rules and regulations. After speaking with our landscaper I immediately called Frank with 3D and explained the situation. He asked me to send him pictures of the permit pages and that was the first time he ever read through them. The owner of the company (Frank) was awful, yelling at me and my husband. telling us it was our fault and that we should have known what was on the permit. His excuse was that he does business all of the Chicago area and he can't possibly be responsible for knowing all the codes of every town. Are you kidding me?!?!? You don't have to know every code in every town but you do need to read a permit and make yourself aware of the particular codes relevant to the job you are doing in that particular town. 3D was not at all helpful in the digging of this hole, in fact they asked us to have our landscaper dig the hole because they didn't feel like it was "part of their job." The 6 foot hole that we had to dig had to then be filled with layers of gravel and sand followed by sod. This also required a 3 stage inspection process by the city to make sure all the steps ere followed properly. This cost us an additional $3000 to have done and filled with the proper materials. That was an added cost that we did not expect and had we known this was going to be added expense in doing the patio we NEVER would have went ahead with this project. The patio is done and they did do a great job with the patio itself but because of this mess I now have a sink hole in my front yard that will require periodic filling to raise the drywall to be level with the grass. Its hard for my kids to play on the front grass because it is a mushy 6 foot square that can be a tripping hazard. I

I am very very disappointed in this company. I am doing a paver project which would be approximately in the range of 15,000.00. Chet came out to my home, seemed very knowledgeable stayed and discussed the project, quite frankly I was ready to hire as soon as the proposal came in with the details. Shortly after that time I had to go out of town and I informed Chet that I wanted the proposal by email and would like to set up an install for the project after that as soon as possible if the proposal was acceptable. Chet did respond that the owner was working on the project and would get back to me with the final proposal and he also email that he would call when this proposal went out. I told him I would be doing this via email while I was out of town but wanted to get this set up. Well no email, no call, nothing - weeks have gone by and have wasted valuable time trying to obtain this proposal. As you can see I am not the first to state this in the reviews that they DO NOT follow through. Glad I did not hire and for the record I did send an email asking where the proposal was again, and left a message on angies list to call me about this job. No response. BEWARE apparently this business has issues.
Description of Work: Came out to home to provide estimate
From the very beginning, we received excellent consultation and customer service from our sales rep, Pete. He made sure that every project detail was taken care of to the highest of standards. Javier and his crew showed up to the job site on time every day and provided excellent quality workmanship and attention to detail. Overall, 3D did a wonderful job and we recommend them highly.
Description of Work: 3D Brick removed our old asphalt driveway, concrete front walk, and flagstone patio, then replaced all with Unilock pavers. They also removed and replaced a retaining wall, poured concrete pads and built a small island.
We are happy to say that after talking with Mike, the owner of the company, he came out to see the issue himself. I was sorry it took so long, but was glad that he took this seriously. He agreed there was an issue with the Polymer and set up a date to fix the issue. The patio looks 100% better and we were glad that Mike stood behind his company's workmanship. We would once again recommend 3D Brick Paving.

Response from 3D Brick Paving Inc
Thank you for admitting that we did a beautiful job for you 5 years ago, I appreciate your honesty. My name is Mike the owner of 3D Brick Paving, Alex is my son who is 26 years old and he has the responsibility of running the cleaning and sealing crews. Frank is my brother who oversees all the day to day operations and schedules all the installation crews and of course we all try to keep an eye on everything Alex is doing because he's still learning and has a big responsibility on his shoulders, with the way the weather has been from April all the way to the middle of July it has caused such stress on him and all of us. Apparently Alex promised to meet your deadline of July 2nd for your party and he did !! and even though there were so many other customers ahead of you, he kept his word and his promise to you no matter what it took. Secondly, we never go to a customers house without calling 1 or 2 days before and at least leave a message on their voice mail and as far as your furniture is concerned, the crew always moves all the furniture from every patio we clean and seal because we don't expect the customers to do it especially if they are an elderly couple living in the house. There was no way we could have anticipated what the weather was going to do this whole Spring as the weather forecast was wrong most of the time, so we jumped at every opportunity to send the crews out to power wash and get the bricks ready for re-sanding and sealing, which by the way is a 2 day process and with travel time, new sand, sealer, fuel, insurance, labor etc. we have a $ 650.00 minimum charge and you were only charged $ 250.00 that you haven't paid anyway, and this EXAGERATED REVIEW IS THE THANK YOU FOR ALEX'S GENEROSITY !!! However, that does not excuse the fact that if we did do a bad job and did not meet your expectations that we shouldn't try to make it right for you. Polymeric sand is difficult to work with and all the conditions have to be right for it dry and cure properly, sometime it may take a week or more if its extremely wet under the bricks and the moisture wants to come up thru the joints of the bricks and if you google this year weather report, we only had about 14 or 17 days of dry weather that it didn't rain for at least 5 minute by a passing cloud, that's why some of the polymeric sand seemed to stay moist and not harden. You also mention that sand got in the garden, do you know what 4000 psi of a power washer can do ? that's what it takes to blow the old sand out of the joints and yes the sand is hard to control which direction its going to go as your cleaning vertical and horizontal joints, but we've never had a complaint about the crews leaving sand on the siding of the house because its common sense as their moving forward they lift the nozzle up and in a split second its cleaned, the little sand that may have drained or sprayed in your garden won't hurt anything either as sand is good to mix in with the dirt in the garden beds for drainage and again we never have gotten a complaint on that either. I bet your Polymeric sand is nice and hard now that we've had good dry weather. But, if your still not happy call me and I'll personally come out to meet with you. Mike D'Aiello

We worked with Mike from 3D. Mike is one of the owners and the designer of our walkway. Mike was very informative and educated us on what work he was to perform. We met him earkier this year at his office after i spoke with him on and off at the end of last year. He came out to do an estimate for us last year and gave us ideas. When we got together we worked on the type of stone we wanted and went from there. There were some hiccups {always expected} due to weather and other issues. We got thru them. The work that was performed turned out exceptional. The crew and foreman {Oscar} were great to work with. The design Mike laid out for us came out beautifully. The only reason i don't give out all A's to 3D is because the work is not finished. One thing Mike educated me on was the importance of the after product anywhere from 1-5 years down the road after completion. That's why he has his warranty. In our final product we do have at least 2 chipped bricks that even Mike says are unacceptable. He's asked for us to wait thru the winter to see if there are anymore issues. We're fine with that. I trust Mike will honor this warranty whether it's next year or in 3 to 5 years. I think we've all been blown off by a contractor at some point. I believe Mike to be a man of integrity. That's why i will re-review 3D next year and for the forthcoming years to ensure we're taken care of. Another thing Mike did for us was work with us on financing. Not many contractors do this but he did. That means a lot considering i'm sure based of other evals of 3D we were a smaller project. This company does some great work and the end product shows. Mike came to our house twice when doing our estimate, once last fall and again this spring when we decided to go ahead with the project. We got several quotes and 3D's was by far the most detailed and transparent. Mike is clearly very knowledgeable about the products, their specifications, and industry best practices. The crew was very easy to work with and left the work site neat at the end of each day. We love our new patio!

Within the first 10 minutes I knew Mike was the guy doing the job. He showed up with ideas and all the tools to take measurements and plan out what I wanted. I got job quotes from several companies, his pricing was very close (within 1k of the others). The difference is the time he spent planning the layout, very detailed and itemized quote, excellent showroom where I could actually see how the pavers look in a large space (professionalism x100). He came back the day before work was to commence and did a complete detail marking of the yard. there were some additional tasks I wanted done like underground drain for the front downspout. The extra quote was to the penny of what he said it would be. When the work did commence it was amazing. The work took 4 days to complete. Each evening tools and equipment was tucked away as neatly as possible. The workmen REALLY worked and were extremely polite and accommodating. approximately 700 square feet of pavers were laid. All my neighbors stated how impressed they were with the workmen. they kept the alley clean when working and noise level down as best they could. I had lived in a condo for 20 years always wanting a house and yard. Mike and his company have made my dream come true. I was on a limited budget and he was able to give the most bang for my buck. BTW he also was willing to do landscaping and offered a lot of suggestions on planting but that is something I wanted to do myself. Now that is the fun part for me. I recommend this company to everyone.

Mike is very thorough and made sure we understood all of our options before moving forward. His team did an amazing job and we are very happy with the result. We had a slight issue with an in scope item being missed on the job (they were supposed to install a pvc pipe under the walk for future sprinkler work). Mike had his crew come back immediately to pull up a small section of the walk and install the pipe. Job well done! I have already referred several friends to Mike and they are happy with his performance as well.

3D came out and gave a detailed estimate. I accepted their bid because it was a good price AND because they gave me full details of what they would do to fix the sinking porch and keep it from ever sinking again. It was important for me to completely understand what they were going to do, in detail, and they provided that to me. The install day was rained out - they called me first thing in the morning which I really appreciated so I could reschedule my day.On the new install day, I became worried when they did not come early as expected. Between 8a and 10a, I left two voice messages asking if/when they were coming. They showed up at 10am. My only complaint, and the reason for the B rating under punctuality, is because no one told me the time of their arrival. The job was supposed to be a one day job and part of the reason it was extended to two days was the late start on day #1. In our electronic world - a quick call or text notifying me of start times and delays is always greatly appreciated. It shows respect for me and my schedule. Had I known they weren't coming until 10am, I could have completed several of MY errands instead of sitting and waiting, not sure if they were even coming. Day two of install, we could not be home and were surprised when we got home that nothing had been done. I called the office immediately - Someone answered and they checked into what happened and promptly called me back with answers. I never found out for sure why they didn't come the next day, but I was assured they would be back the following day to finish. Again, I only mention this for the benefit of 3-D - it really means ALOT to your customers when you communicate throughout the process of arrival days/times and update us of delays. I understand it is the nature of your business which is why the communication is SO important. Please show respect for our time as we show respect for yours. Again, another reason for a B rating. The guys on day 2 also did a wonderful job and our front stoop looks beautiful again. There were a few items that needed to be addressed after day 1, but the day 2 crew fixed the problems. Overall, I would hire 3-D Paving again. They were responsive, friendly, and they did excellent work. I am happy with my new porch.

Response from 3D Brick Paving Inc
Hi [member name removed], My name is Mike D'Aiello the owner of 3D Brick Paving, Thanks for the review on the quality of our work and also for the B grade for punctuality. The reason I'm thanking you for the B grade is because this year my son Alex has been given the responsibilities of scheduling the repairs and the cleaning / sealing crews. All of us veterans are doing our best to keep an eye on him and to teach him how to schedule jobs, place orders for materials, returning calls promptly ETC. but most importantly that all customer are absolutely satisfied with our craftsmanship when a project is completed. He received a negative review a few weeks ago and since then he's been working really hard at trying to be on top of things. He's only 26 years old and we are all very proud of him, he is doing a great job so far in taking on such a big responsibility in the first 2 months of this season. So the review that you wrote, will help him realize the importance of communicating with his customers. As in all learning processes of life, you can only get better by making mistakes and learning from them. I Apologize that he didn't call when he was supposed to, but I'm glad that your happy and satisfied with our work. Mike

i had them out to quote a job to reset my brick pavers and add a fireplace. asked them to come out and adjust their bid to include cleaning and sealing. got handed off to the owner's nephew. made an appointment for him to come out to the house. waited for two hours on the day of the appointment and he never showed. no call, nothing. sent the owner an email hoping that he was alright because he didn't show and never received an email back. guess business must be good for them. funny thing is that Alex asked me if I was going to show for the appointment and he's the one that never showed! Lots of other alternatives.
Description of Work: promised to come out to revise my quote and never showed up.
It went very well with the scheduling and also by matching brick work which was done by a different installer last year. The total work was done in 2 days. The new patio bumps up to a concrete slab and the back of the garage. The leveling is perfect and so is the pattern. We are very pleased.
Description of Work: Installation of brick paver patio and also helped by trenching a path for the underground electric line to the garage, which is under the new patio.
Frank was great with quote process as well as being responsive with my questions. He took care of permitting process with the city. Went to show room to pick out bricks. Team did a great job with install (looks great).
Description of Work: rebuilt front step concrete foundation, put brick on new foundation, replaced brick walk way from driveway to front step with new brick pavers
I first contacted 3D Brick in the winter and they followed up with me once the snow cleared out to provide a proposal. Their pricing was great and the detail in the proposal outlined exactly what we wanted to do. Pete advised us to consider the pre-sealed bricks which did cost a bit more, but I think this will be the right choice in the long run because they require less maintenance. After visiting 3D Brick's office to pick out our stones, Pete was able to schedule us immediately, which was very impressive since the other proposals we received were backed up for at least the next 2 months on their schedules. We originally did not consider including the stone stairs, but once we realized how much money it would be to contract a separate builder and get them to coordinate with 3D Brick, we asked Pete to add this to the proposal. Pete got the updated pricing to us within 24 hours, making our decision process much faster and easier. When I asked our other quote providers to include this additional work, it significantly raised their estimate. Pete's proposal ended up being much more reasonable and convenient since they'd do it all at once, and only added 1 extra day to the project. The work crew showed up promptly each day and did great work. They finished right on time and cleaned up all the excess material. Pete scheduled a follow up the next week to make sure everything settled in nicely and I appreciated his willingness to make sure there were no loose ends to tie up (which hasn't been my experiences with other contractors). The new patio looks fantastic and I'm sure we will enjoy it for years to come. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with Pete's professionalism and responsiveness, and the end result was worth every penny!

Pete was very professional to work with and I liked him from the start. He told me a timeframe and was even able to come a few days earlier if I wanted. His crew worked hard and did a great job and were also very professional and accomodating with all of my questions or concerns. My patio is beautiful and all the pavers are even. It has been almost 8 months and there all is well. There has been no issues with the pavers shifting. I would use 3D again.
Description of Work: removed old patio in back and front walkway and installed a new patio and front stoop/walkway
Small townhome patio, about 200 square feet. I met with Pete Pontikes who came out to go over my options and take measurements. He helped me decide what colors would go well with the face-brick back wall of my home and what would be best size and/or pattern. Two things I really appreciated: 1) He did not try to push me toward the most expensive options which I seem adept at selecting and 2) suggested I come out to their business so that I could see (installed) samples of the pavers I was considering (as well as patterns and edging options) as opposed to selecting from the book. My patio had to be accessed through my neighbor's in order to haul out the old materials/bring in the new. The workmen were prompt each day, and extremely neat. The pavers are cut individually on site. I stopped by the office one day two pay the remainder of my bill and ask about sealing the brick. Another gentleman (owner?) spent A LOT of time explaining why sealing should wait a year and showed me several examples of matte and gloss sealing so I could think about what I would prefer.

Pete gave me the quote in July. We let him know that we wanted do the work in October. He was patient about modifying the quote several times as we tried to figure out options and budget. I went to their office to look at a variety of paver options installed outside. This was very helpful in choosing the color, as I could see it in natural light in a large pattern, rather than deciding from a catalog or a small piece or two. This changed my mind as to the color I selected. I then scheduled the work in September, to be done in October. They arrived on time. Pete and I walked out the exact measurements and edges of the patio and walk and he chalked it. He obtained the building permit. The crew removed the old concrete and pavers. The project ran about 4 days. They were on time, polite, and incredibly hard-working. Everything was cleaned up at the end of every day. When the project was done, I was concerned with the way the sand had settled (or not settled) into some of the joints of the paving stones. Pete sent people out twice to be sure that the joints were filled and that I was satisfied with the job. I would definitely use the company again.
Description of Work: Tore up old pavers and concrete sidewalk, stoop and sitting wall, dug out old underground trashcans, buried downspout pipe to yard, paved with Unilock Hollandstone pavers, replaced stoop with old quarry stone. We invested a lot of time researching who we wanted to hire to handle our new patio and landscape design project. There aren?t many places that do the clean modern style that we wanted, and we had grading and drainage issues that required us to take this on, so style wasn?t even our first concern. After speaking with many places about their methods, philosophies, equipment, materials, etc. we chose to work with Mike D?Aiello from 3D. His approach to his work, (he answered the phone himself at 8 o?clock at night) and the fact that between his company and his cousin?s company, they could complete the entire project from start to finish, made 3D the right choice for us. Mike came right over with his equipment and assessed our grade and drainage issues and explained (very thoroughly!) our options for a new patio that would prevent water from pooling up against the house again. Mike gave us a million references and we checked out a job they had just completed. The craftsmanship was excellent, so we felt good about proceeding. Budget was a big concern for us, and Mike was sure to recommend options that would provide the most bang for our buck. His bid breakdown was perfect, we never felt like we didn?t understand his charges, or his process, and whenever we had questions we got thorough, timely, and thoughtful responses. Mike is sure a character, but he is an honest businessman. Naturally, we experienced a couple delays, but Mike worked with us to keep things moving along and was always reachable throughout the process. His subs were courteous and very hardworking guys. We chose to go with a Unilock concrete tile that simulates the look of bluestone pavers for style, durability, price, and design flexibility. We are completely in love with our new patio and walkway!
Description of Work: Build a new walkway and patio.
My husband and I didn't even know where to start when looking for a contractor to do our patio, nor did we have any ideas about what the design should be. Not to mention, ensuring that we found a contractor that would do quality work and ensure that drainage never became an issue. My husband and I are former condo owners in the city, not the handiest of couples, and also not a couple that prides themselves on knowing how to do any DIY project,. However, I pride myself on doing my homework and being extremely particular and cautious before I make any significant investments/decisions. When we went down the path of interviewing and ultimately selecting a contractor it was quite an undertaking. We didn't know who we could ultimately trust to get the job done not only to our liking but with craftsmanship that will be able to hold up over the years with our severe weather. I thought I had chosen our contractor after I completed 10 different interviews, however, I came across the 200 plus positive reviews of 3D brick paving on angie's list and cross checked it with other sites that provide consumer reviews and wanted to give them a call to see what they had to offer/suggest. Our initial call and all of our conversations after that were with Mike D'aeillo the owner of the company and after our first conversation with him my husband said "we found our contractor". Mike, hands down is one of the most knowledgable individuals in his field. He not only prides himself on getting the job done right, with the best craftsmanship possible, but he also specializes in drainage, which was my husbands biggest concern when we revamped our back yard. Mike not only provided a beautiful design but ensured that he took every precaution in the final project to ensure we would not have any drainage issues. 3d Brick paving is also one of unilocks biggest contractors so they had a display at their corporate office which made my husband and I very confident that this clearly was not their first rodeo. They were actually three months booked after we selected them but the wait was worth it! The crew that was at our house, finished on schedule, were prompt, professional, very courteous and extremely detail oriented. Javier, the foreman, was phenominal. He consulted with me daily to ensure that I was 100% satisfied and his attention to detail was exceptional. I would recommend them to anyone and definitely plan to use them again in the future. I have never had a more positive experience with a contractor in my 18 years being a homeowner!

The job took 3 ppl to do the work and it took 2 days. They were very careful to not damage any of the drains in my yard while doing the job. In addition, They were very accommodating and very good. They were very courteous and was able to communicate with them effectively. They cleaned up after themselves and left nothing behind. I would use again in the future
