Safety Matters has incredible service. They come in an install everything - I didn't have to do anything. I had an issue with a latch in the kitchen, and they came over very quickly to fix it at no charge. I highly recommend these guys if you need to childproof your home but don't have a lot of time to take care of it yourself.

We recently purchase a new home and were overwhelmed with all we needed to do once we moved in. At the top of the list was childproofing our home. I looked into doing this myself but between the tricky staircases and fireplace I felt I didn’t have the time or expertise to do this properly on my own. I was so relived to find Safety Matters and read about all of their services. After an initial consultation with Larry in our home where a variety of serious child risks were identified that I would have overlooked, his installation team can back and took care of everything in one day. They did everything from making custom gates at the top and bottom of our stairs, childproofing the fireplace and kitchen cabinets to installing special protectors on the electrical sockets that were better than anything I found on my own. All of the work was professionally done and looks great. This was a big headache that went away for me in one day. I highly recommend their service for anyone who has small children at home.

Larry came to our house to suggest everything that he could see as a potential hazard and was very professional and quoted us a reasonable price for everything. Alex, Larry's installer, came and installed everything in a timely manner. Over the course of a year, I contacted Larry for additional needs and they got each piece we needed installed. I even tried installing some gates on my own and ran into multiple challenges, especially installing around the baseboards. I called Larry one last time to have a gate installed to keep our daughter out of the kitchen and it works perfect! Thank you Safety Matters for keeping my daughter safe!!!!!

This company is wonderful. We used them 7 years ago when we moved into our house. Those kids grew and gates came down. When we had a new baby this year, I asked if they would re-install the gates we still owned. We had bought gates from them previously, so not sure if they always will do that, but they agreed. They came out that day and installed them perfectly into our old house using spacer bars and zip ties and other tricks of the trade as needed to make gates work on irregular staircase openings and to avoid need for screws going into the 100 year old newel post. We could never have done work ourselves. We also bought a new gate where we needed it for irregular basebof stairs and pricing was very reasonable and solution was perfect. Extremely friendly and terrific at what they do. Highly recommend. Pricing was per gate installed (less for those we already owned). They also installed some anti-tip straps on furniture and tv. I feel much, much safer now.

They are very professional and thorough

The process was great! We are not very handy and have a second little one on the way so we knew we needed help baby proofing. I had a free consultation with Larry the owner. We walked room by room and I went over my concerns and he went over his. We came up with a game plan to do two separate installations because we are playing musical rooms and didn't have everything where we wanted it yet. The next day the installer (I think his name was Paul) came out and went to work. He was friendly and very courteous as well as cleaned up after every project. We will absolutely hire them again. I especially recommend them for areas that aren't textbook. They really build and design each gate for your needs.

Great. Larry was very professional and timely just as his installer. It was great to get a free consultation of all the safety areas in my home. I appreciated a quick itemized list as well. I did think the price of the gate was high considering the price for that brand varies from $30-$70 and the original quote was $200. I was happy that the price was $150 as the installer did not need the extender. I did think it was on the pricier side but glad to know it is installed correctly. I did think the price for the other items listed were accurate. I would definitely recommend this company with an A.

I called three Chicagoland baby proofing companies, and Safety Matters was the only business to promptly return my call or not put me on hold indefinitely. Larry was friendly, courteous and able to schedule my appointment within two business days. Paul, the technician, arrived on time (early, even!) and was able to complete the tasks in about 2 hour, taking extra precaution to cause as little damage as possible to my oak bannister and potentially crumbly 100-year-old plaster walls. He also located studs in the wall of my daughter's room to more safely secure her dresser. Basically, it took him an hour to do what it would have taken me or my husband all day to do poorly-- and saved us from making a mess of things. I also found that the cost was well worth it in proportion to the amount of my insurance co-pay after I took my 2-year-old to the ER last month after she toppled her dresser over on herself. I highly recommend working with Safety Matters.

Outstanding! The installer was so gentle and caring about the placement of everything. Highly recommend this company. They came out within a few days to install and while it's not very cheap to baby proof in general no matter what professional company you use, it's important to do it right and make the home safer. Don't question yourself and hire this company I know I will refer them.

Couldn't be happier. came out initially and inspected both houses. (I'm not sure what the total cost for my in-laws house was, but our cost at our house was $663). They came out within a few days again to do the installation. they did a great job. Even better and more proffesional than I expected. they also reinstalled a child safety gate at the top of our stairs which had been installed incorrectly by another childproofing contractor on Angie's List. The difference is night and day. I would not hesitate to use this company in the future. Awesome Job!

Service includes review of home and estimate of what they think is needed, and then you choose what you want and then they install.
