After a couple phone call exchanges, and what started to be a pleasant exchange, we quickly learned that this service provider only cared about the money. We agreed verbally (first mistake) to have our driveway and deck sealed both on top and underneath as we pointed out we were having carpenter bee problems and this was a way to detour the damage they cause. He agreed and repeated what he was going to do, what we would be charged and when the work would commence, boasted about his referrals and BBB rating of A+. He demanded in the agreement that he be paid half at the start and balance due on completion of the work. A check was left for him for more than half - as a show of good faith for $400. He refers to "referrals" as people he has done work for, not that they actually refer him - but he views him doing work as a referral. He boasted about all the "referrals" he has in our area, even on our block. The following day of our verbal agreement he arrived to power-wash our deck - while we were away at our summer home. We returned, not thinking he was finished because our furniture was still on the deck, which we were told would be removed from our deck, it was not, and was all still there when we returned home. There was then some more weather which caused more delays, but then he was suppose to arrive twice, called to say he was delayed, would be there the next day, twice, and never showed. Then he arrived one day and said his painters tested the wood, a day and a half after it had rained and said the wood was too wet to treat. then, while away again I received a call to say he would be there to finish the deck, to which I asked about the wetness of the wood but never received any reply specifically addressing my concerns. When we returned we found that he sealed our deck, and left the furniture in place on the deck. He did not completely finish power washing the deck as there was still dirt present. He did not sand or otherwise remove the printing on the wood before sealing. He did not do the underside of the deck as promised and agreed upon. Again, I tried to confront him on the level and quality of work he said they did a great job (all supported by email exchanges I have between us), and wanted to get paid. He was rude and belligerent, bordering threatening. I said I would not pay any more until this was completed. after a few other exchanges, he agreed to come back "make us happy" and redo the entire job for free (meaning I would not pay twice, but still had to pay). I arrived home from work, the deck still had not been completed, but they covered up their work by treating only parts of the deck, railings, some of the surface but did not further clean the deck nor do the underside as originally agreed. I was busy working in my home, and prior to that, again, in good faith, had left a check under my front door stoop which I had not told him was there. When I went out front to look for him, they (his team of three) were gone, checked under my mat and the check for the balance was gone too. Since that time, he has maintained that his work was complete, however now I owed him now $50 more dollars. I said that he was not getting paid any more, and in fact I wanted my money back for the deck as he did not do what he said he was going to do and as far as I was concerned had stolen my money. In his latest message via email, he in fact has made threatening remarks, telling me I have been warned. I have voiced my concerns and complained to the BBB and will be filing a complaint with my local police department and likely go to court for resolution of this breach of this verbal contract. This is not a good company nor good people to do business with. Rather than attempt to resolve the problem, right the wrong, fix the problem, he wants to charge more and threaten me or my family. Shame on my for not getting this in writing and for paying them for work they did not do as described and agreed. Lesson learned the hard way - don't let this happen to you.
Description of Work: This provider was supposed to seal coat my driveway and seal my deck both on top and underneath. He did seal coat my driveway with a diluted solution, and did a very poor job of sealing my deck - but never completed the work - properly or otherwise.

Don't deal with them. They give you a high price. Then when you try to say no - they get high pressure - "you do have our coupon don't you?." This guy just won't let you go. Very unprofessional/rude
