Description of Work: friends had told us about happ. we called to pack and move household goods from a single out of area location to three separate locations in and around chicago .from the first phone contact to the final bill signing and paying, they were great. either carol or greg answers the phone, and listen to what you need and the best way, at best cost, for the customer. we had several fragile and antique pieces, and the "desk" and the movers always talked to each other, so the actual people doing the move were totally in sync with our needs. we paid by the hour, and happ was, i believe, scrupulously fair and honest in getting the job done quickly in a manner that didn't run up the cost

Description of Work: My daughter had a large studio apartment which we needed to close. Most items were already packed when the movers arrived. Her building, in Wrigleyville, has some stairs no matter how you enter, and little parking available. With their ramps and carts, the men were able to move things easily and efficiently. They even tried to fix a couple of items that were broken before they arrived. They transported everything to our home, and moved the items from the studio as well as moved items that were in my home to make room for the newer items. All 3 movers were polite, responsive and kept working. There was no delay in getting work done, so I cannot complain about the time involved in any way. the next move we make, Happ Movers will be my first call.

Description of Work: The movers are ok. However the lady who scheduled the appointment is very unreasonable. I am frustrated by the hours they charged me. They arrived 3:15PM, and finished the job around 3:45PM (it is a short distance move from Winnetka to Highland Park and the drive is only 15 minutes). However they charged me one hour and 45 minutes. They told me it included the time from their office to the job site and from the job site to office. They gave me a few reasons why they charged me 1 3/4 hours: 1) other companies have minimum charge and they don't (I am happy to pay 1 3/4 hours if that's the minimum charge, however I don't think that's the case). 2) They sent three movers instead of two movers (they told me 2 movers are enough for my piano when I called them to schedule the appointment.) I don't understand why this has anything to do with my complaint? I didn't force them to send 3 movers. They charged me the 2 mover rate, but charged longer hours to cover the extra mover. 3) Another reason they told me is they gave me an estimate of 2 hours when I scheduled my appointment. An estimate is an estimate! Moving is charged by actual hours, not estimate. Should customers be punished by your way-off estimate?! I just don't understand the logic behind those arguments. Also according to info on Angieslist, their office is in Glenview, which is very close to both Winnetka and Highland Park. Even I include the commute time from office to Winnetka and from Highland Park to Glenview, I don't get 1 3/4 hours. It just doesn't add up. I agree a minimum charge is reasonable for small jobs like mine, however this should be communicated to customers in advance, rather than charging customers at your own will! That is just totally wrong.

Description of Work: Needed baby grand piano moved and then returned after replacement windows installed. They were very prompt, courteous, and even offered to move some other items since there was time available.

Description of Work: We hired them only to move a piano from our old house to the new. They came not a minute early and not a minute late. They did it like the piano weighed 15 pounds, and they were done. We were perfectly happy.
