 + -1 moreAlex came on time to give the appraisal, pick up the furniture, and deliver it. He is friendly and helpful. He did a very good job on repairing and reupholstering the chairs. He stripped and sanded the table, leaves and chairs and removed all stains and dents. We were, however, disappointed with the finish. When we came to the workshop to choose a stain, Alex showed us three stains; two were clearly inappropriate so that left us with one which we did not particularly like and did not think suited the wood. I came back to the shop with a piece of furniture as an example of what we would like. I have asked Alex to show me other possible stain colors but instead of doing it he kept telling me to trust him that the color he suggested is the right one. We accepted his opinion and now regret it since the color is not what we wanted it to be. Another problem is that the finish he put is very dull; all our furniture has satin finish but none looks dull, even after many years.
Description of Work: Refinished a pedestal dining room table with three leaves; refinished, repaired, and re-upholstered 4 dining room chairs.

 + -1 moreMy chairs were returned on Saturday. The chairs were done in about 10 days. They looked better than new. The foam was replaced and is so much more comfortable. The only thing that got missed was that I asked that the chairs be scotch guarded and they weren't. The upholsterer wanted $35 per chair and I thought that was high. I'm going to spray them myself. Refinishing cost was $125 per chair and 3 sides of upholstery was $135 per chair. I thought the upholstery seemed expensive but the fabric company wanted $50 per seat bottom or one side. Mine also had some ribbing.
Description of Work: HIRE Camacho. Look no further. I loved my dining room table and chairs but since we use it daily there was a lot of wear and tear. I didn't want to buy a new one because the table was mint,the chairs needed new upholstery and the wood needed refinished. I called Camacho because their Angie's List score was so high. I was worried we'd be without chairs for 8-12 weeks. Alex came within one day of my call, he gave me a quote for the refinishing and called his upholsterer who quoted the job on the spot. He took my chairs on Fri. I selected my fabric before meeting with Alex. He gave me yardage amounts and I had the fabric shipped for $10. to his Deerfield shop. He told me the chairs would be done in 3 weeks maybe sooner. I told him to expect the fabric by Mon. He called me Mon. afternoon to let me know it didn't arrive. What a Pro. I also could tell my chairs were probably already started and he needed the fabric soon. Fabric arrived within 2 days. He helped with UPS as well.

 + -1 moreAlex did a fabulous job! When he came out to give me an estimate, I could tell right away that he was a true craftsman by the way he looked at the set. I had gone to his workshop and seen some of his work and I was impressed. He came and picked the set up. He got it finished quicker than expected. He delivered it and unwrapped it carefully. He seemed to be just as excited about the finished result as I was. He was touching the wood lovingly as he told explained to me what he had done. He had also made some repairs here and there and you could not even see where they had been. The cost was worth every single penny. I just can not praise him enough and I am so lucky to have found him to do this for me!
Description of Work: I had a 1920's walnut antique bedroom set that was passed down to me repaired and refinished. This included 2 dressers, a night stand, a vanity and bench.

 + -1 moreI was very flexible with the time frame so how long it took, wasn't that big of a deal. Everything was there with him, from his quality to his pricing! He really appreciates the different pieces of furniture that you bring in and pays attention to the wood grain. He lets the piece be itself and really makes it stand out. I don't remember exactly the price that I paid; I think it was around the approximate cost listed.
Description of Work: He did some wood furniture refinishing. I have since been back several times for him to do several jobs for us.

 + -1 moreMr. Camacho picked up the bookcase and estimated it would take 6 to 8 weeks for completion. He delivered it in 8 weeks and it looks even better than I expected. It means a lot to my mother to have it restored. He does wonderful work.
Description of Work: Mr. Camacho repaired and refinished a small bookcase. The back was replaces and matched to the finish of the original wood.

 + -1 moreMr. Camacho arrived promptly and quickly assessed the job. He determined the price and when he would return the door. He returned the door exactly when he said he would. Not only had he refinished the door beautifully, he had polished all of the hardware on the door as well. The door is gorgeous!

 + -1 moreMr. Camacho was accommodating and pleasant throughout the transaction. I brought him the 5 chairs and we discussed whether they should be re-caned or filled in with solid wooden bottoms. He recommended the re-caning approach; I agreed and said I wanted them back by April 1. He agreed and brought them March 8. He did a beautiful job on them and I am throughly pleased.
Description of Work: 5 Thonet ice cream chairs (kitchen chairs)were refinished and re-caned.

 + -1 moreAlex came out exactly when he said he would and gave us a good estimate. We needed reupholstry too, and he brought an upholsterer. The upholsterer said he could provide the fabric, but also indicated that we could probably buy the fabric cheaper elsewhere. The furniture came back perfect. These guys really know their stuff.
Description of Work: Refinished two tables and refinished and reupholstered a love seat.

I had pictures to email of the dresser (which I bought on eBay and is shipping), but Mr. Camacho does not check his email regularly and so he said he would call me back the next day with an address to email them to. He didn't call me back. Still, he was wonderful and helpful and would actually have made a trip to my home to see the dresser if it were already here, and I would still recommend using him.

 + -1 moreI am very pleased with the outcome. Mr. Camacho is a pleasure to work with. He was organized, timely and I appreciated the free estimate and he included pick-up and delivery. The vanity is beautiful and Mr. Camacho helped me along the way with key decisions, like whether to stain it or keep the natural wood color. I also appreciate that its all done by hand. I will definitely work with Mr. Camacho again. I will say that the price seemed like a lot but I think refinishing is just expensive to begin with and if you love a piece, its worth it.
Description of Work: Had an old vanity with stickers, laminate, etc. applied, missing handles, chips, overall poor condition. Vanity was stripped, repaired and refinished.

He was very professional and friendly, and we felt that the price was reasonable. We will certainly call him again for any furniture repair or refinishing.

Description of Work: Had 6 dining room chairs that needed stabilizing. One had a leg that was completely broken off. All chairs were stabilized and the one was repaired completely. Very pleased to be able to continue using these chairs as we are not ready to replace our dining room set yet.

Description of Work: WE HAD A BROKEN BED FRAME WHERE THE HEADBOARD HAD DETACHED FROM THE SIDE RAIL. WHEN I CALLED CAMACHO, ALEX SPOKE WITH ME OVER THE PHONE AND ARRANGED TO COME OUT FROM DEERFIELD INTO THE CITY. HE RETURNED THE TABLE AND LEAF AND OUR CHAIR ABOUT 10 DAYS LATER. HE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. IT NOW LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE A MATCHING SET OF FURNITURE BECAUSE THE FINISH IS THE SAME ON ALL THE PIECES. WE PAID WHAT HE HAD ESTIMATED THE COST WOULD BE. WE'RE VERY HAPPY AND WOULD RECOMMEND HIS WORK.
Description of Work: REFINISHED A KITCHEN TABLE. THE TABLE WAS ABOUT 25 YEARS OLD AND HAD A PLASTIC FINISH WHICH HAD WORN OFF IN PATCHES OVER THE YEARS. OUR CHAIRS WERE BOUGHT RECENTLY AND DID NOT MATCH. ALEX BORROWED ONE OF THE CHAIRS SO THAT HE COULD MATCH THE WOOD FINISH. HE COMPLETELY REMOVED THE PLASTIC COATING AND REFINISHED THE TABLE, 2' WIDE EXTRA LEAF, TABLE APRON AND HEAVY, 4 POST PEDESTAL BASE SO THAT EVERYTHING MATCHES PERFECTLY, INCLUDING KEEPING THE ORIGINAL DISTRESS MARKS.
