The work went great, the crew was professional, and diligent in their work. In getting the estimates and arranging the job with Jack, he was very prompt when he arrived to scheduled an estimate, providing me a proposal and responding to my messages. The crew arrived before 8 AM to start work, and worked through the day installing ceiling fans and the attic fan. They kept the work areas clean, for example they put plastic over the beds they were working on. Post job cleanup was minimal. All fans worked great. They finished about 4:30. Blazer Electric has also been good with follow up questions that I had. A few months after the job was complete, I had a question about one of the fans that was installed. Jack was great in getting back to me quickly for more information, and a few ideas about what might be going on. He then scheduled a time to come take a look and answer my questions, these ended up being because I hadn't had one of these type fans before and when it was originally installed it was to cold for it to run.
Description of Work: I had Jack and his crew out in February to install four bedroom ceiling fans and an attic fan. All were new installations, requiring them to run some new wires, cut drywall, and cut a hole in the roof for the attic fan.

Jack quickly replied to my email inquiry promptly and was able to fit me into an early morning appointment as I requested. He arrived on time and got right to work. He explained what he was going to do and completed each task promptly. One of the repairs required additional parts which he ran out to get at a nearby store and he was able to complete all work in a few hours. He was professional and a pleasure to do business with.
Description of Work: Handled connecting electric for new attic fan and repaired several double tapped circuit breakers.

All 3 of of my experiences with Blazer have been great. I've worked with both Jack and one of his associates. Both of them have been reasonable in price and completed the agreed upon work to my complete satisfaction. For example, when they dug the trench for my out door light post they took the time to dig in a way to save the grass. So, once the electric was laid in the trench the grass was placed back on top of where the trench had been dug. Within a week or so you couldn't even tell a trench had ever been dug. Other efforts like this show they are experienced and care to do things right. Jack is in my phone contacts now and I will call him for any electrical needs I have.
Description of Work: I have used Blazer electric 3 different times. (1) Installed 2 outdoor electric boxes each connected to a motion sensor flood light. Also changed out 5 old exterior light fixtures for new ones. (2) Replaced front lamp post. Work included digging trench for electric line, laying concrete to install post on, attaching new post to concrete and wiring up the new lamp post. (3) Installed an exterior out let on garage and installed a new electrical outlet in media closet. Both jobs required running conduit.

When we initially scheduled him to come out, Jack said to call him the day before and he would have better idea of his schedule. I was expecting some time during the late morning or early afternoon but the day before he said he wouldn't be able to get here until early evening. While this was a minor inconvenience, he kept me updated as to his timing and arrived when he said he would as of late that afternoon.Jack has done other work at our house and we definitely will have him come back when we do purchase a new light fixture for the kitchen.
Description of Work: Our kitchen light fixture was not working after we tried replacing the halogen bulb twice. Jack informed us the socket had some heat damage from using high wattage bulbs (and the fixture is 8 years old). We will soon need a new light fixture but he cleaned out the socket and it is able to work for the near term.We also had a new timer for our outside lights and while he was at our house for the kitchen light, we asked him if he could install it. He was able to do so, now we don't have to schedule a separate visit for that.

We used Jack twice in the last week to do a rather challenging outlet install in a tight bathroom area and to swap out a pair of outlets that were faulty. He quoted us a rough price on the install sight unseen and kept below the number even though it required him to make a separate trip and bring another worker. Jack was timely, thorough, honest and cleaned up carefully when he was finished. We have already used him again and will recommend him to friends.

Don't call if you've got a tight schedule.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate on a whole house generator. Jack set up an appoint ment for Monday night between 5:30 and 8:00 and never showed up or called. He did have my correct phone number, as he called the next day.I only call highly rated businesses on Angies list so I don't have to deal with folks that don't follow through. I was very dissapointed and refused to reschedule when he called the next day.

The day they were to do the work they were to arrive at 3:30 p.m. By 4:25 p.m they did not arrive, therefore I contacted Jack to inquire as to when the service person was to arrive. He contacted the service person, that was scheduled to do the work, who in turn called me to say he was on his way. That in itself is NOT professional. When the service person arrives he says that he does not have the parts to complete the repairs and says that he will have to return the following morning. Not professional, and requiring more of my time to meet him the next morning at 7:30 a.m. Once the work was complete, the service person says that he has to call Jack to get the cost of the repair. BIG red flag to me. Jack says that the price of the work was $210.00 - $30.00 more than the original quote. I had to remind Jack that the price was different than the quote he previously provide. Not to mention the fact that I had to tell Jack that a phone call from HIM, or the service person, would have been nice to let me know that they would be late, as other PROFESSIONAL contractors, that I have hired over the years, have done.

This will be an opportunity for us to improve our service - we will increase communication with customers, and re-stock our truck more often in order to complete service calls in one day. To our defense let me just say that my employee was delayed by a complicated repair which unexpectedly came up at his previous appointment. Our entire team was sorry to hear that our service was disapointing, and promises to work harder with a goal of achieving Total Customer Satisfaction... Jack Blazejewski, President

They were very responsive to my service call and fixed the problem. I knew I needed updating to by electrical box since I was doubling up on circuits and my house is 40 yrs old. A 2 man crew showed up in the morning and worked all day til they were finished. They also discovered that some of the wiring in the bedrooms needed correction, no extra charge, and fixed it. The circuit box was replaced and the attic fan installed. They cleaned up and made sure I knew everything was working properly. The new curcuits were labeled and I was very happy. It was a nice warm January day so not having power was no problem. Very professional and certainly would use again and recommend highly.
Description of Work: First I had a service call. I had overloaded a circuit breaker and had caused a need for a service call. They came the next day and fixed the problem. I knew I needed updating so I had a new curcuit box installed and a new attic fan. Jack came out the next week to give me an estimate on replacing circuit box. He asked if there was anything else and I asked if he could replace attic fan and he said yes. I was given the estimate of $1,060 and if I waited until after the first of the year when work was slow, there would be a $20 discount. The priced included the discounts for belonging to Angie's List and for using the company previously.

Jack was absolutely FANTASTIC! Upon calling him to get an estimate, Jack called me back within the hour to set up an estimate appointment. Jack showed up for the estimate appointment on time and walked us through the work, telling us everything we could expect. Two days later Jack sent us an estimate for the work that was substantially cheaper than other quotes we had received. After agreeing to go ahead with the work, Jack contacted us that he had a cancellation and could start the work the next day. The next day, Jack showed up with himself and two of his employees on time to start the work. His employees were very professional and personable. The work was completed in a timely manner and they were even able to avoid making holes in our plaster walls. Once the work was completed, Jack made sure they cleaned up any mess that had been made. Jack also took care of the permit for the work, and waited patiently for hours for the inspector to arrive. I would, and have, highly recommend Jack for any electrical work that needs to be done. Jack will be our electrician for all future work that needs to be done.

They did an excellent job. The estimate was at least a hundred dollars less then any other I had gotten for the project and they were actually able to install the wiring with-out cutting a single new hole in the walls. Some of the walls were already out but, for example, the ceiling in one of the rooms where we added a light switch was still intact and, when they finished, it was as pristine as it began. Jake Blazer is a very nice guy who walks you through and explains everything before hand, he was also very patient about my scheduling as he gave me the estimate in December and then had to wait for me to get back from Christmas vacation to do the actual work. The job itself was done by one of his employees but, as I said, it was top of the line. One of the two light switches turned out to be malfunctioning (could only turn on the light when both switches were in the same position instead of by using either switch). I called Blazer about this and got a call back in a couple hours and then they sent someone over to fix it the very next day, which took all of five minutes. Everything else they installed worked exactly as it should right away.
Description of Work: Installed an individual curcuit and outlet in the bathroom for powering a whirlpool tub, moved the sink outlet and sink vanity light to a different part of the bathroom, moved microwave outlet and curcuit in kitchen, and installed two extra light switches for existing fixtures (creating three way switches).

Jack was terrific. He was very responsive to my call and was very professional at all times. He went to the apt. building even though I couldn't be there myself and did a terrific job. He deserves an award! I have already given his name out to three people. Simply put, he knows what he is doing. He has corrected errors in the electrical work. They clean the house immaculately. They always wear booties to keep everything clean. Their prices are very fair even.
Description of Work: I had him go to a building I own in Chicago and he did any electrical work that was necessary for a room addition. Then, I had him move my electrical box completely and he hooked up a whole house generator. Next week, he'll be back to put in 8 outdoor safety outlets.

Great communication, professional, diligent, honest, and a joy to work with. We had several little things that needed to be fixed, but when we went to get insulation installed, we noticed old knob and tub wiring. It's not safe to install insulation over this type of wiring, so we knew it needed to go. We were very concerned that the cost would be exorbitant. The crew from Blazer reassured me that the extent of this wiring in the home was not that great, so they were able to move the few outlets on this wiring to other circuits. They also installed a 4 prong outlet for our dryer. Even though I didn't ask, they connected the dryer vent for me and taped it up nicely. They also fixed a can light that we could not get to work. Again, he must have seen that my husband had been changing over the lights to LED, and went to the trouble to replace the bulb with the LED we had sitting in the room. They provided good advice and showed concern for my family's comfort and safety. I am scheduling a few more projects in the near future.
Description of Work: Troubleshooting and updating in an older home: remove some old knob and tub wiring, replace outdated outlets, fix a can light that stopped working, put in a new 4-prong outlet for a new dryer.

Jack explained precisely what we needed and what his crew would be and would not be doing before preparing the estimates. If anything extra was required, he took the time in person, over the phone or email to explain to us so that we completely understood. The service from Jack and his crew was exceptional and very professional. Despite delays from the village with the permit required, Blazer performed the tasks in the time frame Jack quoted and within the estimate quoted. The crew was expeditious in their tasks and took great care when working around newly installed counter tops in the kitchen. Preparations for the inspection from the village was swift and timely. I will use Blazer Electric for remaining electrical work we require and I highly recommend them for any electrical service required.
Description of Work: Jack at Blazer Electric and his crew installed a larger 100A breaker panel to dedicate a circuit to our washer and dryer and the OTR microwave and range, added two new outlets in our kitchen with GFCI receptacles and fished a new line from an existing switch in our kitchen.

The job was performed the same day I calledI called Jack at Blazer Electric because the fluorescent light in my kitchen would not turn on. I tried changing the 4-48 .light bulbs but the lights still would not turn on. I was advised from a family member that it was the starter. When I talked to Jack, he advised me a house call is $250, and he gives a $50 discount for angie's List members, and would also give me an additional $50 discount because I live in Northbrook, where his company is located. I called him around 4:00pm, and he asked if he could come around 7;00pm, to look at the light. He came at 7:00, then said he had some other calls to make, and had to pick up the part he needed to repair the light, and if it was all right with me, he could be back around 9:00 with the part, and it would take avout 10-15 minutes and the job would be done that night. He called from his car, as he had to go to 2 stores to get the part, and arrived at 9:15. He took 10 minutes to install the part, and asked for paper towels to clean the light cover. He gave me the receipt for the part which was $32.74. All I owed him was $182.74. I also had a burnt out bulb in the hallway that I didn't know how to remove the fixture, and he even changed that for me at no charge. Thanks again, Angie's List! Julie De CarloNorthbrook, IL

He was excellent and he did a really good job. He brought 5 people to my home to do the work. He is really responsive. They were very clean and laid down tarps when doing the work. He asked me if it was ok if he and his employees spoke in their native tongue, and I thought that was really respectful. He was great at explaining things and he helped my understand why he was doing things. He treated my house like it was his own. He helped me to spend my money wisely. In giving me feedback, he suggested I live with what he had done because I wouldn’t want my home to look like a runway.
Description of Work: He came out at no charge to follow through on concerns a handyman told me about. He said there were no problems at all. He ended up taking down an out fixture for me and put in 6 cans in the kitchen and 4-5 in the family room and I wanted to have more recess lighting in the Bathroom. He said he couldn’t and suggested a halogen. He also installed dimmers. When in the attic he found that another electrician had not done something right for me. He also indicated that I needed new insulation but I already new that. I appreciate his feedback.

I couldn't be happier with every aspect of this experience! Jack returned my initial phone call promptly and set up an appointment for the following Saturday. When he was running 10 min. late, he called to tell me--that really impressed me, as I sometimes feel like I have spent half my life waiting for contractors to show up when promised. The estimate was reasonable and slightly lower than a previous quote we had received for the job, but I hired him because of the Angie's List rating and his honesty in telling me I didn't need something I thought I did. I was not disappointed with my decision. Jack and his staff came on time each day, worked hard, cleaned up; and when they ran into an unexpected problem, did not charge me extra for the additional time needed. They even fed my dogs when I was unable to get home on time one day! Jack is the only person I'll ever call when I need an electrician.
Description of Work: I hired them to replace our aging circuit breaker box, which had been slowing dying for a few years (parts are hard to come by) and to add some outlets outside.

Overall I would suggest every home have an electric inspection to be sure everything is up to code and working correctly.
Description of Work: Jack arrived in a punctual manner and did and very thorough inspection of all electrical and smoke alarms in our 5900 square foot home. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He pointed out several areas that need further work. Our home was the builder's model. Since our builder has since gone out of business, we were concerned about the integrity of the work done. We have had issues with many of the subcontractors. Having Jack check throughout the electrical has given us peace of mind. He will be back to repair any areas that need it, and replace the smoke alarms he informed us were recalled. I would highly recommend this company.
