the first time they were out here it went fine. When it got cold and snowed the ice on the roof wasn't melting which meant ice cicles dwere forming on my gutters. They came out again and put cable on the lower part of the roof. He then told me that was the first time they had tride to put cable on the roof to keep ice cicles from forming on my gutters. I wish he would have told me before they started any work
Description of Work: the provider put electric cable in my gutters and on tlower part of my roof.

Jack and his partner arrived exactly when he said. They were extremely conscious of any mess in the kitchen and also made sure to wipe any dirt/water from shoes off the floor by the front door! As with other work he has done at our house in the past, he made sure to do everything properly and commented that it appeared someone had taken a shortcut when installing our old light fixtures. In the bedroom some furniture had to be moved to access the outlet and everything was put back exactly how it had been. In addition to being knowledgeable, he is very professional and conscientious. We will definitely use him again for any needs in future and I would highly recommend for any electrical projects.
Description of Work: Installed new kitchen light fixtures (first removing old ones) and also made it so an additional outlet would work with light switch in a bedroom

My husband and I highly recommend Blazer Electric. Jack is a true professional. From the onset, Jack responded quickly to our calls and emails. He then scheduled an appointment within the week to come by and do a load calculation. After meeting Jack, my husband and I agreed that we wanted to use Blazer Electric for our lower level remodel. Once again, when we called, he immediately responded. A date was then chosen for the work to be completed. Jack and his associate were on time despite the subzero temperature. They were very conscious of our home and took measures not to track snow onto the floors. They were both very polite and worked diligently and quietly throughout the day. My husband, a DIY, watched part of the job and was impressed by how thorough they were and careful as they progressed through the project. At days end, the ceiling lights were installed perfectly and all outlets and switches in the exact places. We are pleased with Blazer Electric and have asked them to do a bathroom remodel. We're also plan to use them for a gut rehab of our kitchen within the year. By the way we used Angie's list to find Blazer Electric as we know no local electricians. We give them an A++.

All the work was done perfectly. I recommend him highly as a top professional, and would call him again if I needed any electrical work.
Description of Work: Jack of Blazer electric installed outdoor motion sensors, timers, did some inside rewiring, replaced bulbs with the proper LED devices and gave great and honest advice of what needed to be done and what didn't. He is highly skilled, efficient, and a wonderful guy to have met and have worked with. His prices were competitive, honest, and worth every penny.

I did not hear from him, so I phoned several times, and left messages asking that he call and tell me if I should still expect him. He never replied. So I emailed Jack. He also never responded. I emailed yet again. Never heard from either of them. Total lack of professionalism. Unreliable.
Description of Work: Provider (Jack) came with an assistant. I requested an estimate for the work. They spent about 1 hour, checking the five electrical outlets and replaced one. Charged the "discounted rate of $ 260." Rather high for the time spent and work done. But they were neat, so I asked if they could come and install the new lights in my breakfront. We made a date for the following Friday. Tom, the assistant was supposed to come at around 3PM.

A lady called saying that she and her elderly mother have lost power in 2 rooms. This was not set up in advance, and she wanted me to come immediately. Since me & the crew were working on another job we had to pack up our tools & materials and drive to her house. When we arrived we had to move many pieces of heavy furniture in order to reach wall outlets to investigate the problem. After about an hour we found that somebody was replacing the outlets previously, and has mis-wired some of them thus creating sparking and causing 2 outlets to disintegrate. We have corrected the wiring, replaced burned outlets and put furniture back in place. The customer was happy, she received a discount for Angie's List members plus discount for Senior Citizens. She thanked us for the repair and has asked us to come back next week to replace some lights. Unfortunately the following week both of us were ill, and not able to answer the phone when she has called. What the customers sometimes don't realize is that the "same day service" always costs a little more - I had to stop my regularly scheduled work, pack my tools/ material and drive to her house, then drive back to finish what I was doing before. I am a licensed electrician and I have to work according to the Code, unlike a handyman. In addition I have to pay for my License, Village registration & Bond plus insurance for my business and my truck.

Jack was fantastic! He came over quickly on one of the coldest days this year to help us get our electricity back on. We will be using him again for more work in the near future.

The electrician (non-English speaking) ruined my ceiling when the light fixture he was to replace fell and tore a hole in the ceiling. He patched it up by driving a nail into the ceiling to patch it up. crappy. He exchanged my light fixture and left cords hanging and kept trying to shove wires up into the ceiling. Had he cut the right length and braided the wires throught the cords, it would have been a neat job. He was sloppy. Then he was suppose to replace the balaster (sp?) in two light fixtures in the basement. He went to the Home Depot and brought light bulbs. That didn't fix the problem. I was charged $40 just for the half hour he took at the Home Depot. When I told his boss that I was not happy that he put in light bulbs versus replacing the balaster he told me since I was now a customer the next time my cost would be $40 an hour. Next time?? If he sends sloppy, menial electricians there will be no next time. I had to leave for work, so I paid the guy and now I will have to look for someone else to fix the problems and the mess he made.

I have called the Customer and offered to repair all the problems at no cost to her. Our goal is to satisfy our clients and we always strive to receive an "A"... I had no idea about this situation - my technician told me that he replaced light bulbs in few fixtures, but other electrical parts were needed and that the customer decided to wait with this project. Our work is guaranteed and I will be happy to correct any issues until she is completely satisfied with our work!

We smelled a burning smell from our dimmer switch and flipped off the circuit. This meant we had no electricity in our bathroom, entryway, most of the kitchen, or half the basement. We called three electricians and Jack was the only one who answered his phone (it was a Sunday evening, to be fair). He said he was out on calls that were more serious than ours, but that he would be at our home in about 4 hours. He asked me to take a photo of the dimmer so he could have the correct parts when he arrived (genius! why don't other contractors do this?!). He arrived within the stated time, had the problem fixed in about 20 minutes, and confirmed we did the right thing because the old switch had a serious problem. Yeah, $275 was a lot, but it's a small price to pay for not burning your house down in a blizzard when the temperature was expected to be -20 overnight. His normal rates for schedules services are not that expensive as we plan to have him back to do some non-emergency work later.

Jack and his crew did a wonderful job on our electrical box, switches, and outside meter replacement. They were timely, did a great job and cost effective. More impressive, is that I called in a panic less than a week after the initial replacement (about an area of the house they did not work on) and Jack came out that evening. It was a dangerous electrical situation where an outlet almost caught fire. I am so grateful he came out when I know he had been working all day. I highly recommend this company. Very good people, and good to work with!!

I followed Jack's instructions and his recommended solution worked. Most electricians would have just come over and done the quick fix and charged an arm and a leg. Jack was honest and more impressively, was able to self diagnose the problem over the phone and walk a novice through the fix. I would DEFINITELY use Jack again the next time I had an electrical need and would HIGHLY recommend Jack for his honesty and electrical abilities. Thanks Jack!
Description of Work: I had tried to switch existing light switches to dimmers and ran into a problem. I called Jack to come out to my house to fix the problem. When speaking to Jack, I explained my problem and he indicated that there may be a simple fix and it was something that I could do myself and if that did not work, then he would be happy to come out to take a look to fix the problem.

When I discovered my holiday lights would not work, I called Jack and he showed up on time, if not early with a courtesy call to make sure that was ok. He assessed the problem then made the repair. He explained the options to us and provided not only the parts but labor in a timely and professional manner. He even completed 2 additional indoor outlets for me that were not in my original request. If I have electrical problems in the future, I would definitely call Jack.

UPDATE after company reply: Sorry, but I did not tell Jack to "pack up his tools" and drop everything to come to my house. I told him I was looking for someone to come and find the reason my tub was not working - he said he could come later that day. Period. I had no indication from him that he would be performing some sort of special instant service at a high rate. Obviously a non-functioning jacuzzi tub is not some emergency and I did not act like it was when I spoke with him. Yes, Jack came to my home. Yes, he traced the problem to my bathroom (not surprising when the bathroom tub is what was broken). Yes, he should be paid for his time and I appreciated the effort he did make, which I believe was clear in my fair review. However, I asked him what I owed him when he was getting ready to leave and HE put off the payment and did not contact me until a month later. It's not my job to keep track of his open job tickets, and he is misrepresenting the situation by making it sound like I was trying to dodge the bill. Everything I stated about this incident and the pricing is accurate! If other customers want to pay that rate, then be my guest. Original Review: I want to give a fair review here - If I could give a B - / C + I would. Jack took my call and was able to come out later the same day, which was great. He was polite and conversational. When he arrived, he took a look at the circuit breaker to verify nothing was thrown, then looked at the outlets in and near the bathroom where the problem tub was located. After looking at those things, he informed me that he was unable to determine the exact problem. He thought perhaps the issue was with wiring that was behind wood paneling, which he was not comfortable removing. He suggested I have a carpenter in and then give him a call when more of the wiring was exposed. The carpenter/handyman I hired to come in and get behind the paneling was able to fix the problem. Since the problem was resolved and Jack had done nothing to fix it, I did not call him to come back. I got a call from Jack almost a month later. He said he had an open ticket for me and after I explained that the problem had been fixed by someone else, he informed me that I owed him $125.00. And apparently this was doing me a favor because the regular price for his visit would be $250.00! I was dismayed that he would expect such a fee for glancing at a few outlets and then NOT solving the problem. If he intended to charge such a fee, I should have been made aware of that over the phone or as soon as he arrived. Secondly, that amount is outrageous for coming over and not fixing the issue -- I understand that his time is valuable and he uses gas to get to his appointments (which he explained to me at length) but if you get paid $250.00 for removing and replacing outlet covers, then I want that job. I don't mind paying for a visit, but anything over a hundred dollars when you could not resolve the issue is not justifiable. Overall, I would not hire this company again. While Jack was responsive and courteous when I called, there was a lack of transparency about pricing and I ended up paying even though nothing was fixed. I feel ripped off, honestly. Not a good feeling when it comes to dealing with a business.
Description of Work: Jack came to my house to check out a non-functioning jetted tub (manufacturer and plumber had suggested the problem was electrical in nature)

This customer was a nice lady who called and asked me to come and get her Jacuzzi tub working - the Plumber told her that it was an electrical problem. This was not set up in advance, she wanted me to come the same day. Since i was working on another job I had to pack up my tools and drive to her house. After an hour of labor I was able to trace the circuit from the panel in the Basement all the way to the 2nd Floor where it disappeared in the custom made wood cabinet adjacent to marble tub enclosure. I was not able to go further - I did not want to break the wood cabinet, or to crack the marble tiles. In addition I saw some unusual wiring which did not meet the electrical code. So I informed the customer that a carpenter is needed to open access to the Jacuzzi motor. She did agree and told me that she'd call me when it was ready, and that she'd pay me the next time. The call never came. What the customer does not realize is that the " same day service" always costs a little more - I had to stop my regularly scheduled work, pack my tools/ material and drive to her house, then drive back to finish what i was doing before. I am a licensed electrician and I have to work according to the Code, unlike a handyman. In addition I have to pay for my License, Village registration & Bond plus insurance for my business and my truck. My profit for this project was $30 which I don't think is outrageous...

I called to have shower light and bathroom light/exhaust fans were all out in one bathroom. I also had outdoor floodlights that were out. It turns out that the shower light was fine; the GFI outlet that it was connected to was just triggered (and I didn't realize), so nothing was wrong there. The outdoor floodlights just needed cleaning and adjustment. There were some bee/insect residuals in the light bulb socket and the spring inside may needed adjusting, but basically the connections/wiring weren't really broken. The only issue that really was broken was the exhaust fan/light in bathroom which needed the socket and wiring to be fixed to work. All in all, the job took about 1 hr (maybe less) and even with Angie's List discounts, the cost came out to $200. Jack was really cordial and professional and explained everything before he made any fixes and also explained what he did afterwards. While they were late than the time promised, they phoned to say they were running about an hr late, so I appreciated the phone call at least. The service itself was great; I'm not sure how competitive their pricing is for what they did. I'll have to try other contractors out in the area to compare, but it seemed a bit high for what they did -- esp since it took only about an hr and 1 out of the 3 items was a non-issue (resetting the GFI outlet switch) and the outdoor floodlight issue seemed like a simple fix too since the wiring was fine and only one of the sockets needed cleaning/adjusting. IF pricing is the same w/ other contractors, I would definitely go with Jack again.
Description of Work: Fixed bathroom light/exhaust fan. Cleaned & adjusted outdoor floodlight sockets. Shower light was out only b/c GFI outlet switch was triggered.

I had purchased an Angies List coupon that at the end of last 2012 for 2 hours of electrical work that expired at the end of June 2013 - and I hadn't taken advantage of it. I contacted Jack Blazer to ask if he would still honor it - and he agreed. He called me back 2 days after my initial call to schedule his visit - which was within 10 days of my initial call. He called ahead of time to narrow down his arrival time. The visit was quick and Jack was very professional. Total work time was less than 1 hour. He checked to make sure that there wasn't any other service that needed to be performed. I would use him again.
