NOW I HAVE A WHITE TRASH BATHROOM, KITCHEN, AND LIVING ROOM THANKS TO DAMAGE DONE BY REBATH. TOTAL NIGHTMARE! DO NOT HIRE REBATH... YOU WILL REGRET IT! I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THEY HAVE DONE DAMAGE TO THEIR HOME. REBATH REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGE THEY DID AND THE DAMAGE DONE BY THEIR ELECTRICIAN. Check them out on the web (google) to see all the complaints against REBATH
Description of Work: I met with Ron, a salesman from Rebath on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 6 pm in my home. AFter his sales pitch, I picked out the bath tub, tub surround, tub/shower fixtures, ROUND toilet, and wainscot for lowers wall and trim. I was informed I would receive a 10% discount if I made a down payment that night and that work would begin in 6 weeks. I put down, in good faith half of the estimate. I was promised I would NOT be without a functioning toilet at any time during the remodel and promised all work would be completed within 3 consecutive days. 1. Work was promised to start in 6 weeks. They didn't start for 2 days shy of 10 weeks!2. I did NOT get a round toilet. The one I picked out and paid for was damaged by installer. He took it upon himself to pick out an oval one much taller and larger than what I had chosen.3. I never did receive the 10% discount I was promised.4. I was without a functioning toilet for 3 days, and without a shower for 5 days which covered a weekend!5. All work was guaranteed to be completed within 3 consecutive days, whereas it took FIVE! On August 17, 2011 Rebath finally came to install my dream bathroom (or so I thought!) The problems I found I reported to Rebath via emails to Stephanie who assured me everything would be taken care of. Which, they were not! 1. Upon completion, I had 4 rooms without electricity2. The bathroom light/fan/night light ceiling fixture did not work properly. The light and fan were connected to the same switch, the night light was not connected to anything--the electric wire just hanging.3. I did NOT receive the paperwork/warranties from the items I purchased (sink, vanity, mirrored medicine cabinet, and toilet topper)4. The linoleum was cut too short and did not reach the wall and leaving a 1/4 inch gap.5. The trim on the wainscot was cut to short leaving a 2" gap between the end and the medicine cabinet. To cover their mistake, they placed an ugly piece of wood-looking styrofoam in its place!6. The same piece of too short trim has a gouge in it.7. The "clear caulk" has already turned yellowed! When I received the final bill, I emailed Rebath and informed them I would pay in full as soon as they fixed the problems. Rebath hired an electrician from SCHWARTZ ELECTRIC (another company to stay away from) to fix the electrical problems, it they 'really' existed and due to Rebath's mistake. The electrician came out on August 25. He stated in a letter that they did indeed find a neutral wire was not making connection back to the panel. THAT IS BECAUSE REBATH CUT IT THEN COVERED AN OUTLET. Electrician could not find any connection with the work done in bathroom to my problem. HE DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO TURN ON THE LIGHT! He admitted to breaking apart a switch plate cover and leaving the pieces on the floor in the basement. He admitted he chipped the paint off a blank cover on my ceiling and pried it open, leaving the mess on the table. This ceiling plate has been covered for 25 years! He admitted to entering my attic. How he totally missed that the light/fan/night light switch in the bathroom did not work properly amazes me as he is supposedly a trained electrician. THE SCHWARTZ ELECTRICIAN CAUSED NUMEROUS DAMAGE TO MY HOME by breaking apart light switch plates, breaking apart outlet covers, removing painted ceiling cover, DAMAGED CEILING IN KITCHEN AND LIVING ROOM WHEN IN THE ATTIC. The ceiling in my living room and kitchen have sunken and cracked where he stepped. Because SCHWARTZ ELECTRIC is totally incompetent, I called Fox Electric in Peoria, IL Matt from Fox Electric came to my home on Friday, September 2. He found and repaired the following damage done by Rebath: 1. Bath fan has 3 circuits, two (fan and light) of which were connected to one switch, the other (night light) not connected at all. REPAIRED SO ALL THREE ARE CONNECTED TO THEIR OWN SWITCH2. Found bath fan was installed incorrectly, was not properly braced to support unit, but held up by drywall and one screw. Bracing between rafters is required. aLSO FOUND THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS WERE MADE OUTSIDE OF JUNCTION BOX AND JUNCTION BOX COVER WAS PINCHING THE WIRING. This was a potential fire hazard! REPAIRED - FAN WAS SECURED PROPERLY, WIRERS NO LONGER PINCHING BY METAL COVER.3. Found other two switch circuits that were cut!4. Found medicine cabinet light was installed against code and back plate for fixture was missing! REWIRED medicine cabinet LIGHT, ADDED BACK PLATE.5. When vanity was removed, found circuit for kitchen light and other cut and taped into the wall. Found hot lead cut and taped in wall as well.6. Found all circuits in junction box were cut and left in wall, when electrical junction receptacle to the right of sink was removed to cover with wainscot... totally not code, but done by Rebath anyway. THANK YOU FOX ELECTRIC for coming to my rescue!
