Plumber responded quickly when I called about my water heater leaking. This was a Sunday and they came out within an hour. They had all the parts on the truck, including the entire new water heater. The worker was friendly and cleaned up very well. Now for the not so great stuff. I found out afterwards that the tankless heater would have been only a little more than the regular style but the worker told me it would be 5 times as much when I asked him to install that instead. I also found out later that the average cost for a regular heater is closer to $800 than the $1,100 they charged me. I expected to pay a premium for the Sunday service but $300 extra for the hardware and another $200 for the 3-hour work seems excessive. They also talked me into their maintenance plan and told me that someone would contact me about scheduling my next checkup but no one has called. Due to these negatives, I would not use them again even in an emergency and I'm going to have to call them about my maintenance contract.
Description of Work: Replaced leaking water heater with new one.

I had a terrible experience with them. They cover air conditioning, plumbing and heating. They have a contractual agreements where they come and do a normal AC and heating inspection in summer. They take $15 a month and they are supposed to come out and take care of it. So I had the normal spring AC evaluation. When the guy came out he told me he couldn’t do any of the cleaning and stuff because the air conditioning unit was too covered with brush. Then he went on to say that a capacitor was not working and needed to be replaced. There were some other things that he mentioned that I didn’t quite understand. Then he wrote me a list of things which almost was unintelligable. The net result was I got a bill of $1378 for all three. The capacitor by the way cost $390. To clean the area around the air conditioner and blower, he wanted $275. I was sort of blown away by it. First of all I had the area around the air conditioner cleaned by a yard person and he charged me $50 and he cleaned some other stuff too. I had another AC person come in and he told me the capacitor was $20. Moreover the whole cleaning including the capacitor was $120. I have been paying $15 a month for a year. This is just outrageous. I have thought about possibly reporting them to Better Business Bureau. On Angie’s List it says that they are not bonded and insured. When I spoke to the sweet little lady that answers their phone, she told me that was a lie and they are certainly bonded and insured. I spoke to another person in the plumbing business and he told me they definitely were not bonded and insured. In fact they were called off a job because of that.

After 5 hours, two days, and two guys, I was told I would need a sewer line put in at a cost of $19000. I called for a second opinion. The second plumber routed out 100 ft., found the plug, fixed the problem in 25 minutes and charged less than $200. Mike Williams had already charged my credit card $387. and I tangled with them for two months before getting my money back. Then they continued to charge my credit card for a service agreement that I did not sign up for. I called credit card co. to stop payment to them and drove to their office where records showed I had not signed anything. I was told it was just an oversight.
Description of Work: Water was backing up in pipes in a bathroom and all drains making noise. They routed the sewer line out 80 ft.one day and took xray pics of the same strip the next day.

I had a pipe that sprung a leak and was spraying water in my unfinished basement. I called the company based on a flyer I had received (without checking Angie's List first - silly me). The lady that answered the phone made sure to inform me that because it was after hours, I would be on the hook for an estimate/call fee if I wanted them to come out. Feeling that I was really in immediate need I agreed and she gathered me information. The plumber came out at the agreed time; about an hour or so... Dressed nicely and all, but still didn't feel exactly professional (maybe it was the chewing gum and such). He looked at the situation and said he couldn't give me a firm estimate but gave me a range from a fairly small amount (less than a hundred) up to 6000. This made me feel even less confident in the type of service I would receive. He seemed shocked that I turned down his work offer; he then made sure that I had been informed that there would be a service call fee and asked for me to complete the paperwork; and he was on his way. This service was a complete contrast to the service provided by the company I decided to go with. Afterwards, I heard of several other experiences people had with this company (hearsay - I know, but the type of service did match up with other entries on this site).
Description of Work: Had an estimate performed on some work that was very near an critical emergency - meaning if the pipe completey burst I would've had no water to the home.

Been using this plumbing company for some time. Called this time with a semi-emergency (broken sump dischage line under driveway undermining driveway) The lady on the phone was obnoxious and rude. Told her we would never use their company again due to her attitude on the phone. She must be related to the owner, incredibly horrible attitude!

I have been an electrician for 27 years, and I know for a fact that a capacitor doesn't cost $300.00. I am not an air conditioning expert, but the most I have seen a capacitor cost is around $40.00. I pay him a yearly fee to do the plumbing, heating, and air condition work. They do wear their booties when they come in and they make sure to not mess up the carpet. I live out of town, and when they hit me with this charge I was stunned.

I am really happy with him. He is a very nice and extremely professional gentleman. He is clean which is not always the case with plumbers. He is very reasonably priced and is really good about coming when I need him to. I would use him again in the future.

I did not like Mike Williams Plumbing, Heating & Air at all. The woman who came out told me that in order to change the fixture, they would need to put a hole in the wall, job would take a week to finish and the charge would be $3,000.00 dollars. We were shocked at the price and told her we would think it over. She then told us that we would be charged a $100.00 dollar fee for her to come out and give us the quote! We refused to pay her as I have never heard of a company charging a fee to give a quote. The company did end up waiving the fee but I felt that they were dishonest and tried to cheat us. I would not use Mike Williams Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning.

I feel that their estimates are extremely high. They told me it would be around $700 to do the work and I hired someone to do it for $250.
Description of Work: They cold called our home and spoke to my wife to try and arrange a time for them to come out and inspect our furnace. They made it sound like we called them first to arrange an inspection of our furnace. A few years ago, I had a problem with them saying they gave free estimates but since we did not go with them to do the work, they still charged me $60 for the estimate.

They did not fix it the first time and actually made it worst. I called them back for a second time and they still did not fix it. They signed me up for a maintenance agreement and it was hard for me to get the charged removed. I actually had to go through my credit card company to get it removed.

They completed the job, but I thought the prices were very expensive. They had a one size fits all approach. For the faucet repair, it was $450 regardless of what the repair was and it took them only 5 minutes. It was a flat rate, and they wouldn’t quote me anything else.
Description of Work: I used Mike Williams Plumbing Inc 2 months ago. They replaced a faucet and did a repair of a leak in the main. They had to run underline since there was a leak within the slab.

I called to have a water heater replaced. I used their website and told them the water heater that I wanted and they said they would have someone out in the morning. At 3pm they show up with no water heater to give me an estimate. They told me I needed a new water heater which I already knew and a requested an install not an estimate. They came the next day still no water heater and spend 3 hours taking the old one out. It was in a closet on main floor not a very tough job. The water heater finally shows up an hour past their estimated completion time. They charged me $300 more than anyone else in town and did a mediocre job with the piping. They got flux all over the place and didn't even bother to sweep under the old water heater before they put the new one in. Never use this company.

My daughter called these guys from the phone book (nice ad) to look at my daughters clogged drain. I took interest and got involved because I was going to pay for the service. They came in and said they couldn't find the clean out, so attempted to clean from the basement floor drain. They said they could get past 34 feet, so had one of their "friends" bring in a scope. They concluded that the tile pipe was broken by tree roots and full of dirt and completely blocked. I ended up paying them $550 for this conclusion. They said the only way to fix this was to dig up the yard and replace the pipe from house to sewere main. That would cost $4000, but could cost as much as $3000-4000 more, depending on what they found. They also said they used better more heavy duty PVC pipe than anyone else. Since this was a large amount of money (and I was paying for it) I called another plumber in for a second opinion. They quickly found the main drain cleanout (behind a screw on panel) and were able to clean the drain with a normal rotary drain cleaner/cutter. The drain only contained minor root growth. These new guys said virtually ALL the houses in this area that had clay drain pipes had these fine roots in them and you just have to have them cleaned periodically - they see it all the time. It seems evident that Mike Williams business practices are unethical, if not worse. Now I know why these Mike Williams can afford the full page ads in the yellow pages. If it says "Mike Williams" on truck - run.

Much to my surprise, when the arrived on site they said they'd have to cut out/replace part of the cast iron soil stack line with PVC to tie in the new PVC drain lines (wasn't mentioned in the original bid). Ok, if that's the way it is,then fine. The subfloor was pulled up (as part of the remodeling project), so they had full open access to the lines. This was a very small bathroom and the soil stack was right there in the corner of the room, so none of the runs were very long at all. On the new supply lines, they suggested it would be necessary to stub off the old PVC supply line with adapters up to copper supply lines. This work was done in the afternoon. At about 3am the fitting the installed on the supply line cracked and water started pouring through the ceiling in my finished basement below the bathroom. Luckily we heard it and got it shut off before a huge amount of damage was done. However, this required me cutting through the freshly laid new subfloor to access the lines where it broke. This was clearly a case where they either put too much tape on the pipe fitting or over tightened the fitting, causing the fitting to split. After watching these guys work and seeing the quality of what they had done (not to mention the split pipe and 3am water emergency), I ultimately ended up running new tub/sink/toilet supply lines all the way from the source (at the other end of the house) to the bathroom myslef using Pex tubing. I now also question whether it was necessary to cut/replace part of the cast iron soild stack. I would rate the quality of the work and the professionalism of these guys at or near the bottom. I also learned that I could have had this same work done by other plumbing contractors for significantly less money. I can't help but feel like I was taken for a ride on this one.
Description of Work: Replace drain lines from bath tube, toilet, and sink in bathroom to the drain stack (located in the corner of the bathroom), install new tub, and stub up new supply lines from under the floor to the sink and tub.
