There was a leak in my bathroom, they assumed it was from the toilet, charged me $450 for work and the leak is still there. I called the supervisor and demanded to fix the problem for free or return money, he refused stating that they did some work on toilet. I am so angry at myself for not reading reviews because they all are negative. The guy who advertises in church bulletins should have some ethics, I hope he was banned from advertising in church bulletins!
Description of Work: Toilet was removed and sealed but the actual leak was from bathtub faucet

They did the work, but the woman answering the phone was very rude, even hanging up twice while discussing pricing. They change a ridiculous amount of money for a job that took less than an hour. Will NEVER call them again. Plumbers taking advantage of desperate homeowners are the worst.

I contacted Ed the Plumber based off of an add I saw in my church bulletin. (this was before I had Angie's List. I won't make that mistake again.) They were prompt in sending a tech out to examine the problem. They initially quoted me $450 to replace a part int the shower. At the time, the tech stated that he was sure this was the cause of my problem. However, after replacing the part, it did not fix the problem. I was then told that I had to pay the full $450 even though this did nothing to fix the problem. I initially paid it but called Ed himself to complain as I didn't think it was fair that I had to pay for something that I did not need and did not fix the problem. Ed refused to refund the money to me and said that he'd take 50% of the $450 to put toward the actual fix. This was not good enough for me and I continued to complain and threaten further action. He then said he'd give me a 100% credit towards the fix but would not refund me. At this point, needed to get this fixed, I agreed. He then sent another tech out who was much more knowledgeable and diagnosed the issue with the pipe itself. He quoted me $1200 to fix it, which seemed a bit high but again, I had to get it fixed so I agreed. However, I was not happy with my service overall and would not use Ed again or recommend him to anyone else.
Description of Work: The shower in my basement would not produce cold water. Ed's folks eventually replaced part of a pipe in my basement that was clogged.

I am very very grateful to Ed's Plumbing for coming out New Years Day, two hours before my company of 40 people arrived for dinner. I called 5 supposed "emergency" plumbers listed in the phone book and only Ed's Plumbing returned our call. They were wonderful. Took care of the immediate problem, and came back again to fix an additional problem that needed parts ordered. The price was high but I do understand that it was a holiday, I am very grateful to Ed's Plumbing and John, their employee. Very respectful, neat and professional.

We allowed the product to work for 5 days, followed the instructions, and realized it did not work. We called a neighborhood plumber, Nuzzo?s Sewer and Plumbing, and he fixed it within 5 minutes for $125. Terrible with tax I paided $173.50 for a chemical that didn't work.
Description of Work: He charged me $85 to come and look at the problem. He said it was a small job and would cost $525 –and after a senior discount. He then gave me this product (Bio Clean) which cost another $85. He said this chemical would eat the bacteria and clean the drain out for me.

He fixed the problem but he overcharged me by over $200. He said that was the rate, but when I called a few different places they gave me a rate of about $225 or under. The work done was very good and he showed up about 20 minutes after I called him, but him overcharging me really questions his integrity and professionalism. I would probably not call him again unless I could negotiate a price first.

When asked to check my working sump pump, he suggested a better model that he had in his truck. He said that mine was inferior and the new one was better quality. He put in the new pump, check valve and PVC pipe. It took him one hour of work. The technician took away my original sump pump that still worked. The owner of the company felt that it must have taken two hours. He gave me approximate prices on parts and labor and kept telling me about his overhead costs.
Description of Work: I called the plumber to fix a leak around my sewer pipe. He told me that I had done a good job patching it and nothing more was needed. Then I asked him to check my working sump pump as long as he was there and I was billed for his service call. A new sump pump and check valve and length of PVC pipe was installed.

I waited for them all morning, and when they finally came out at 1:30, the rep told me he had a doctor's appointment and had to leave, and wouldn't be able to fix anything. I called the office, and they said they wouldn't be able to have anyone out there until after we came back. They also told me that the job would end up being over a thousand dollars, even though they could have just gotten the job done for $77. They said they wouldn't come out just for the flapper, even though that was what they were initially supposed to do.
Description of Work: We hired them to fix a leak in our dining room. We were in a hurry because we were going out of town. They told me the job would be $168.

I had a toilet that occaisionally ran on without any leaks on a 5 year old Kohler toilet. I could tell all that was needed was the internal replacement(guts). I am not handy,I do nothing. My wife called Ed's. They came to my house while I was at work and wrote up a lengthy proposal to make it look like there was a lot of work to be done. My wife signed off on it. It took 1 hr. 15 min, including writing the proposal. I checked online, the part cost approx $25. So for,for a little over an hour, they netted $325.00. I called and asked for an adjustment and they refused. Also, the length and wordiness of the proposal appears to me to be intentionally written to make it seem like it was a bigger job than it was. I do not view myself as cost conscious, but I view that as exorbident. I have never before in my life had a complaint about a contractor.
Description of Work: A 5 yr old Kohler toilet occaisionally ran on after flushing. It needed replacement of the interior parts(stopper).
