Response from Superior Overhead Door Inc
This Home Depot customer’s door was installed 9 years ago by Superior through Home Depot. The customer just had a spring break on their door, which we learned of 4/27/2010. The customer told Home Depot that we did not install new springs with the door 9 years ago. Home Depot had Superior do an inspection to determine which exact springs were on the door and confirm a broken spring is the problem. The springs have been confirmed that they were the springs ordered, received, and installed with the customer’s door, and are the correct springs for this door. We confirmed at inspection that the customer has a broken spring. Home Depot was informed of the price to replace the customer’s springs, which are long out of warranty. Both Home Depot and Clopay, the door manufacturer, are satisfied that the customer will need to pay to replace their springs and no fault was found with Superior Door’s installation or service, both 9 years ago at the time of installation and the current issue. The customer’s installation warranty through Superior was 1 year.
