Prompt, professional, quality job

Dawn Svoboda sent me emails asking that I send the deposit to a P.O. Box in Union, IL. I did that and then she contacted me saying she needed to cash the check in a hurry at a currency exchange because she wanted to add my order to an order that they had already placed and the currency exchange would call me to verify that the check was good. I was suspicious and that should have been a major red flag - however I trusted them because they did my son's floors. Since that time, I got nothing but excuses and lies from them for 2 months after that. They never delivered my wood & when I said I wanted to cancel the contract and demanded a return of my deposit, she asked if they could still do the job and gave me the name of the company they were ordering the wood from. I called the company and the owner verified that she had left him a message about delivering wood to me but did not give him any details about what type of wood or how much & she was not returning his calls. He also told me that she said I would pay for the wood when it was delivered. He told me that they had many problems and bounced checks from the Svobodas & Midwest Hardwood Flooring but only had a P.O. Box for them and was having trouble finding them. Dawn Svoboda then contacted me and said she wanted to avoid a lawsuit and would send me $500 per week until the deposit was paid back. Of course, I never got a check. These people went out of their way to lie and steal this money from me. Since then, I've discovered that they have done this to numerous other people. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR.

Marian was incredibly professional throughout the entire process. He told me very clearly what could be done to repair the issues, what the cost would be, and just as importantly what was simply not possible or worth the money. The guys on his team were professional and the work was very high quality. Not to sound like a jerk, but I've had plenty of contractors involved in the construction of my new home and have seen the full gamut from great to absolutely horrendous. Marian and his team did the work I would expect to be standard in a $2mm home and I'm certain given my interaction with him over several weeks that he would do the same quality work on a project of any size. Marian and crew showed up 20 minutes early day of job start. The reclaimed wood flooring had yet to show up. I had laid out a masking tape boundary of the layout of the floor. The crew of two started immediately at 8:00 laying the subfloor and had wrapped up day one by 2:00. The lumber arrived in the afternoon around 2:30 and the crew loaded it in nice and neat without pretty much any help from me. They left and came back at 7:30 the next morning and immediately got started on laying the floor. They were quick and clean and had about 90% of the floor laid by 4:30. They cleaned up and came back the next day at 7:30 again. They laid the last bit of the floor and began sanding immediately. The sanding was immaculate with almost no dust at all!! They finished this in just a few hours and began sealing the floor. I chose a water based finish which I recommend to anyone looking to be more eco minded. The eco friendly aspect is appealing as well as the fact that it doesn't smell so bad and they can apply four coats in one day and that will all be dried and ready for reassembly 4 hours later!!! Marian and his crew were amazing, friendly and very very punctual!!
