I left two voice mail messages and completed the online form at their website and never received a reply or call. This is very unprofessional and disappointing. I am new to the area and would have liked to establish a relationship with an electrician for any future needs. I have since contacted a different electrician from Angie's List. They returned my call in an hour and did the necessary work.
Description of Work: No service was provided. The request was for installation of 220V hook-up for an electric dryer.

Mike did an excellent job! He was right on time, efficient and extremely informative and friendly. He found an error in the wiring of our fuse box and fixed it, ran an electric line to my son's room and installed a ceiling fan, replaced a dining room light and fixed two faulty switches in our kitchen and garage. I've always been stressed by having someone come into my house for work since you never know what will walk through the door but Mike was wonderful and I would use him again in a second!!
Description of Work: We had a whole list of things that needed done: a ceiling fan installed, replace a dining room light, repair two light switches and rewire a line in our fuse box.

I requested a same day service as the ceiling lights were not working in my finished basement. Michael had to troubleshoot the wires to find the cause or reason for the lights not working. Not only did Michael fix the lights in a reasonable amount of time along with a reasonable price, he explained in detail what he recommended, what to do in the future, and offered advice and information for other vital areas in my home. I was very impressed with his knowledge of electricity and city code. Most of all the service he provided went well beyond my expectations. Yes, a glowing review, well deserved.

First off, Michael showed up exactly on time, 8:00 AM. He was friendly and courteous. I had a possible short in one of my electrical circuits which he quickly diagnosed and determined that the circuit was fine. Then he quoted installing a sub-panel in my basement. I accepted the bid, he left and was back within an hour with all parts needed. He then installed the sub-panel and was finished by 12:30. In addition to doing great work, he left the place spotless, no cleanup for me. He also spent a lot of time making suggestions about the electric in my basement in regards to finishing the basement. He even rough quoted some of that work so I had an idea of costs when I get to that point. All in all, I would highly recommend Michael and I would certainly hire him again.
Description of Work: Checked circuit and installed sub-panel.

It was very good. We are in the middle of painting upstairs and redoing the upstairs so he was able to fit in to my schedule very nicely. He made a point to come out there and he had a checklist of things that he could and couldn't do. We wanted to put recessed lighting in but he showed me how expensive it would be to go up through everything and we settled on a different fixture. I think he saved me a lot of money by doing it that way.
Description of Work: Michael's Electric took out a ceiling fan, put in track lighting, took out old lighting fixtures, and put new ones in, and put dimmer switches on both about a month ago.

We are very pleased with the service provided. The reason the microwave keeps tripping is because the circuit is not able to carry the load and needs to be upgraded. However, the cost to do that is more than we can afford at this time and Michael did not try to pressure us into getting it done. He explained that the tripping is not dangerous but eventually the circuit will just quit working. He did a safety check thoughout the house. He was on time, professional and certainly earned the $75.00 we paid him. ,
Description of Work: Michael checked the reason our microwave keeps trippping. He also checked the wiring in the garage, the fire alarms in the house and the GFI outlets inside and out.

He does very good quality work but he's not cheap, he's expensive. You get what you pay for with him. He came out about a half a dozen times during the first six months that we lived in the house. He has a high service level, is very personal, very thorough and very professional. We would use him again and would also recommend him.
Description of Work: He did a lot of general electrician work for us when we first moved into the home. This was the first time that we had used him.

Called Michael's looking to upgrade the circuit breaker panel in my house from 100 amps to 200 amps. The guy who answered was disinterested in the work from the start and said they would have to charge a service call to come out and give an estimate. Then when I asked him who he could refer me to that is interested in doing this type of work he said nobody and hung up. Isn't this the wrong economy do turn away a couple grand worth of business? I must be in the wrong career.

Michael (the owner) was prompt, thorough and conscientious. He reviewed the job, and prepared a written estimate before he began the work. We also complied a 'wish list' of future products, and he left us with a written estimate to cover the costs. Mike was very helpful, and happy to answer any questions, or offer suggestions, upon request. He was very careful not to damage anything during the work, and cleaned up thoroughly afterword. Mike has been very responsive, and makes every effort to accommodate our schedules as we continue to upgrade our electrical systems. He is more than willing to make recommendations for related work that does not fall under his area of expertise. Overall, a very satisfactory experience we highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Electrical switches replaced, or moved. Faulty wiring removed. Lighting fixtures replaced and removed. Outdoor outlets, transformers repaired. Household safety check. Lighting fixture replaced and moved.

Michael is a wonderful consultant. He spends as much time as necessary discussing the work, explaining the price and, upon completion, taking you on a walk-through to inspect. He makes recommendations about potential safety improvements to your house, but does not engage in any hard selling. Michael is incredibly trustworthy -- I left him alone in my house, with no worries whatsoever. They are not inexpensive, but well worth the price!

Mike was on time and very professional. He performed the work well and at a reasonable pace. The problem, for me, was the pricing. Mike prices everything out beforehand, which is a mixed bag. He has a standard price for everything. For example, replacing a GCFI outlet was $230/outlet, if I remember. If he just needs to replace the outlet, you overpay. If he finds a problem in the wiring and needs to rewire the whole thing, you get a deal. I have no other complaints, but price is a big factor. Id prefer someone who would work with me a bit more.
Description of Work: Replaced one GCFI outlet, rewired two unfinished switches and installed a box for the ceiling fan to be on a 3-way, and rewired a series of 8 outlets.

Response from MICHAEL'S ELECTRIC
"FOR EXAMPLE, REPLACING A GCFI OUTLET WAS $230/OUTLET, IF I REMEMBER. IF HE JUST NEEDS TO REPLACE THE OUTLET, YOU OVERPAY." THIS IS NOT CORRECT....THERE WAS NO POWER AT THE GFCI OUTLET DUE TO THE MEMBER USING A RENTED HEAVY DUTY FLOOR SANDER AND THE WIRING "OLD BX CABLE" HAD TO BE TRACED OUT THROUGH THE LOWER BATH ROOM AND BASEMENT IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE OPEN CIRCUIT. THIS WAS NOT JUST REPLACING THE GFCI OUTLET. THANK YOU KINDLY.

MICHAELS ELECTRIC IS THE BEST ELECTRICIAN A HOMEOWNER COULD ASK FOR! THEY DO EXCELLENT WORK AT A FAIR PRICE AND ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND EXTREMELY HONEST AND UPFRONT. MIKE DOES A GREAT JOB COMMUNICATING WITH THE CUSTOMER IN LAYMANS TERMS AND THOROUGHLY EXPLAINS THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED AND COSTS INVOLVED BEFORE THE JOB IS BEGUN. I HAVE USED MICHAELS ELECTRIC ON FIVE (5) SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND EACH OF HIS ELECTRICIANS WERE PLEASANT TO WORK WITH.
Description of Work: INSTALLED CEILING FAN ($75), REPLACED TWO OUTDOOR ELECTRICAL OUTLETS ($75X2=$150), AND SERVICE CALL($75).
