Outstanding!

Tom let me know what time he'd be arriving and texted me that morning to confirm. He arrived right on time and I explained to him what our real estate agent said about painting our beautiful cherry kitchen cabinets white. He told us not to do it. He said that they are beautiful the way they are and that painting them would be a crime. He basically took money out of his own pocket by being honest! Tom is the absolute best. We talked about other ways to possibly make the kitchen brighter and he was very helpful. He showed us photos of his other work and it was beautiful! Don't bother calling around for other quotes. Tom is a complete professional and extremely honest. Rare traits in this day and age.

Tom was wonderful! Very conscientious about keeping a neat work space. 43 cabinet doors and 22 drawer fronts were all taken offsite to be sprayed and came back looking wonderful. 8 of the doors had glass inserts that had to be removed before painting and then remounted into the door......no problems. Tom was polite, and very communicative about what he was doing, and when the estimated time of completion would be. The job was done on time and we were extremely pleased with the results. My husband and I were away at work for most of the time that Tom was painting at the house and felt very secure about him being there. He was even kind enough to let our dogs out during the day while he was working! We would definitely call him again for another painting job

Highly recommend Kitchen Magician! Tom was great to work with and did a great job. We hired him to reface our bathroom vanity. He was honest and professional, and provided great options for the job. The job was small in comparison, but Tom treated it like he was remodeling our entire kitchen or bath. Will definitely use him and Kitchen Magician for our next job.

Tom, owner of Kitchen Magicians, did everything he promised from start to finish. He was courteous and professional whenever we spoke. He showed up to inspect my kitchen almost immediately after my first phone call. He provided me with a detailed kitchen review and inspection and gave me his work cost estimate almost immediately after the kitchen review. Tom explained the entire scope of the work he would complete and encouraged me to get other estimates so I would be completely satisfied. Once I agreed to use Kitchen Magicians, Tom gave me a firm start week and he actually began the project when he promised. He also estimated the project completion time within a few days and was spot on with his estimate of when he would complete the work. He explained exactly what he would be doing to refinish my kitchen cabinets, drawers and panels, as well as the installation of all new cabinet hardware and hinges. Tom gave all hardware for my cabinets at his costs (no upcharge for his profit) and provided me with wide variety of choices for my cabinet hardware as well. Tom told me each day when I could expect him to come to my home. He actually would text me each morning to remind me when he would be coming and he always kept me informed about his progress. I've never worked with any contractor who was so courteous and professional. My entire family enjoyed interacting with Tom when he was working at our home. The cabinets and all associated work turned out beautifully. Tom took the time to ensure they were all fixed properly, and the refinishing of all my wood cabinets, doors, drawers and panels is spectacular. I'm happy to show anyone my kitchen if they consider using Tom and Kitchen Magicians. One final surprise from Tom was that he always tries to provide an extra service to his customers.....in my case, Tom refinished my family room fireplace mantel to match the kitchen cabinets since they are located near each other in a kitchen/family room home layout. The mantel turned out beautifully, just as my kitchen cabinets. My sincere thanks to Tom and Kitchen Magicians. I most highly recommend them.

It went very well. Tom provided an estimate on the spot at our first meeting. He described the entire process before starting. Tom brought by paint samples to choose from and even invited me to see a finished product in another client's home (with their permission of course). He paid a lot of attention to detail. We had an odd door that needed some attention. He spent a ton of time getting it just right. Communication was very easy with Tom. He explained everything and kept us informed on the progress he was making. We are thrilled with the finished product!

It was fantastic. My kitchen looks brand new! Tom pays extremely close attention to detail, and he went above and beyond to make sure his work was of excellent quality and suited my needs. He took the necessary time to get the job done well. He was very reasonable and honest about charges (showing me all receipts, etc.). Tom is a professional who knows things won't always go as planned, and he is able to adapt and find solutions to everything. In the process of completing this work, he even managed to fix faucet that has been wobbly for years! I recommend him without hesitation.

Tom did an excellent job. The final product was flawless and at an excellent price. He came to my home as many times as necessary, before installation, to ensure we had the right doors with the right stain. We cycled through four or five different possible stains until he finally found the one that worked perfectly with my kitchen. He finished the installation quickly, but with attention to detail. I'm very satisfied and would highly recommend his service. He really cares about his clients and is great to work with.

Everything was great! Reasonable hourly rate, did not mark up parts, attention to detail, let area clean, was determined to get everything right!

Tom handled everything. I have him a garage door opener for access to the house in my absence. I let Tom choose the colors, he did awesome.

From start to finish this was an outstanding experience. Tom is a real professional who takes his work (and therefore your project) seriously and to heart. He told us at our first meeting that he is meticulous and that is absolutely accurate. We have a 1920's bungalow that had a kitchen re-do sometime in the 80's we think. It looked dated and sad. While we really need to gut the kitchen and start over again, we made a budgetary decision to just give the kitchen a "face-lift" with new counter tops, refaced cabinets and drawers and some vintage touches. Tom came out to give us an estimate right away and he came in much lower than the others. This was, of course, compelling, but mostly we reacted to his "vibe". He was considerate, kind and got it when we told him that we really want to evoke the period during which the house was built. He brought samples with him as well as catalogs and was able to give us the estimate on the spot. We were impressed and decided to hire him. Upon request, he gave us an excellent referral for someone to do the counter tops since that is outside his expertise. Due to some family and health issues, Tom had to postpone our start date for a while, but his communication during this time was so excellent that we never felt that he had forgotten us, or abandoned us. He kept us informed and was very communicative, in spite of the difficulties he was going through. Once he contacted us with a start date, things went as smoothly as a project such as this can go. We ran into a couple of problems along the way, primarily because of my insistence on evoking the vintage feel in our kitchen, but Tom rolled with everything, always came up with a solution and was very sensitive to our budget. He has a good eye for detail and wants everything not just to look perfect, but to look and function exactly the way YOU want it to. Not only is this guy an artist, but he's nice to have around your house. If you've done any kind of renovation, you understand that that really does matter. As disruptive as this process can be, having a nice guy who doesn't mind your dogs, is very kind and patient and who makes you feel like you're his only customer takes a lot of the sting out of the process. Our project was finished quickly and within the budget. and our kitchen looks great. I've gotten a number of really great referrals from Angieslist. Tom is one of the best.

Tom really is an expert refinisher. He knows how to work with different species of wood and what finishing methods should be used to get the desired finish. Our cabinets were straight sawn red oak, and we wanted to go to a darker finish without having the grain turn very dark. This is a difficult thing to do being that nature of oak grain is to soak up the stain. Tom worked with us to make sure we got the exact finish we were looking for even though this required additional work on the cabinets.The cabinets look fantastic. He cleaned up every day before he left which was definitely appreciated since we were living in the house for a portion of the time he was doing the work. Would definitely recommend him and use him again.

My inlaws who live inthe Algonquin area needed their kitchen cabinets repaired and refinished. I came across this listing and passed it along. They were very happy with the outcome and the individual that did the work. Exceeded expectations from the consultation through the process.

.Overall the experience was exceptional. I can't say enough positive things about Tom. He was very helpful and very patient. When I wasn't sure about colors, he brought his lovely wife over to help me. It was his suggestion to paint the island a different color and she helped me pick a color that I love! Tom really loves what he does and it shows. I have not had anyone work in my home with more dedication, attention to detail and real pride in workmanship.He even made suggestions and phone calls on my behalf to have someone tile my backsplash. I couldn't be happier with my new kitchen! The Kitchen Magician is the way to go for any cabinet refinishing or refaceing.

I purchased a new condo with a great kitchen in structure, but it needed some updating. The cabinets were in good condition, but they were a light maple. I wanted to update the kitchen and darken the cabinets to an espresso/walnut color. I reached out to several vendors on Angie's List and felt that Tom (Kitchen Magician) was by far the most knowledgeable, reliable, and would provide a quality service. As a first-time homeowner, I was nervous about leaving my kitchen cabinets in someone's hands, but I'm so glad I found Tom. I sent him photos of the kitchen and he provided a reasonable estimate over the phone. After pricing out several other contractors, I felt comfortable that his price was reasonable and competitive. Next, Tom scheduled a time to come out to see the kitchen in person, firm up his estimate and pick out stains. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He was patient as I took my time to decide on the final stain. Next, Tom came back to remove the doors to my cabinets and took them back to his shop to be custom refinished. He has a shop where he sands and stains his work. The cabinets come back looking like they came straight out of a factory. He adds several layers of stain for a quality finish. After the cabinet doors were completed, Tom came back to my kitchen to sand and stain my cabinet frames. He was so meticulous with his work. He carefully masked off the walls, granite, and the cabinet interiors. He treated my kitchen like it was his own home. He carefully stained the cabinets with a sprayer and was sure to use a fan for the fumes. Tom was very detailed in his work and consistently consulted me for my opinion to insure I was satisfied with the final product. In the end, I was more than satisfied. Tom's professionalism and craftsmanship truly exceeded all expectations. He did an outstanding job, down to the details. My kitchen looks incredible and is exactly what I wanted. He even drilled holes and helped me pick out hardware for the cabinets, which I installed weeks later once they arrived. Not only was Tom a quality partner, but also he was very responsive and flexible on my schedule. He traveled over an hour and a half to reach my condo, but was consistently on time and would respond to all of my emails within the same day. I felt very comfortable leaving Tom alone in my home. He is an upstanding contractor and I would highly recommend Tom to anyone and everyone. If you need any custom refinishing in your home, I highly recommend Tom.

Tom did an excellent job! He was polite, punctual, and cleaned up after each time he came out. He quickly responded to phone calls and offered great suggestions. We could not be happier. The cabinets look brand new and beautiful.

The overall experience was wonderful. I highly recommend Vic and Tom since they take such pride in their work. They don't over commit on the time allowed for the job which I really appreciate. Many times you will hear that a job can be completed in much less time than what actually ends up being real time. I felt that the price was reasonable and especially for the high quality of work that we received. They are extremely neat and very precise in their work. My kitchen looks great and updated and my husband and I are so glad that we completed this project, but especially that we chose the Cabinet Doctor.

Vic and Tom transformed my 70's/80's golden oak cabinets into beautiful cherry finished wonders! They replaced the upper doors to remove the cathedral arch and added glass to two of the uppers. All hardware was changed out and included in the price. They are very detail oriented adding small crown moulding where the cabinets meet the soffit and shoe molding where they mee the floor. I am thrilled with my "new" cabinets. I'm even hiring Vic's son Jeff to repaint the kitchen.

They were great from start to finish. They are detail oriented adding creativity and finishing touches but also listened to our needs. We appreciated all their efforts.

It went well and simply. No problems. I am very satisfied.

When they first walk in your house they have a tarpaulin with them that is about 4 ft wide and 20 ft long. They lay that every place they are going to have to walk. That is something that impressed me the most about them. They don't just stand around and waste time. Craig is very efficient. Their price was in the middle of the three estimates that I took. They specialize in cabinets. I highly recommend them.
