he was punctual. I am not a carpenter so needed to rely on his expertise. I bought the $300 coupon for 4 hours of work. When he saw the project he said it was hard and that it would be an extra $200. While I though t that was high I am not an expert so agreed The project took less than 2 hours, and he would not honor the coupon for the 4 hours of work. $500 for less than 2 hours of work. We paid for materials. Even if he counted travel time, this was very over priced and I feel totally taken advantage of

Sloppy work. The one door has a 1/4 inch gap between the door and the frame at the top and bottom, and a 3/8" gap between the door and frame at the latch. Screws used to anchor the door frame to the wall are sticking out. He did not bother to countersink them. One door has a 1/2 inch gap between the brick mould and the wall. The initial work was done the day of the flooding in July. I went out to purchase a generator because I was without power. When I got home I asked Charlie to help me unload it from the car (it weighed close to 200lbs.). He did so and proceeded to help me assemble it (put the wheels and handle on it.) I did not ask him to do this. He later charged me $50 for the work! I asked him to pick up the doors on his way to my house, it's on the way. He said he would but it would cost me $40. I agreed. It turns out they were the wrong doors (my fault) so he returned them, $40 more. When he came to install them a second time, he charged me $40 again to pick the new doors up. The only good things I can say is that he was neat and friendly.

He fixed the leak in shower and came back few days later to inspect it. Then painted the area after examination

The small items were done fine. The tile job in the kitchen was not done appropriately and I will need to pay to have it done again. He did show up on time came back a second day to re-do the tile but it turned out the same Tiles not flat, grouting not even. Unacceptable.

Perfect transaction. He showed up when he said he would, gave me a quote, did the work, collected money and gave me a receipt. He was very efficient and pleasant. I'll have to wait for another windy day to see how well he got my shutters tightened.

He showed up on time, did a great job on the projects, and told me that some should be done by a person who was licensed differently, etc. He was very professional, and he referred me to those who did projects he did not do. The only thing that wasnt' completed correctly was a door knob that kept falling off. It was "fixed" but it fell off the next day. I wasn't upset. I'm sure he thought it was fixed. I'll ask him next time when I have more projects to correct that. I would definitely hire him again.. and consider him my GO TO person for minor repairs.

Very well. He called the day before to confirm the appointment. Charlie was on time. Quickly tightened the faucet. Removed the old ceiling fan & replaced it with a new one, with some minor adjustments needed. He completed his work within the given time, always professional.

It did not go great. It took from whenever I bought it until what, last week, last Monday, I think, so it took them forever to come out here and do it. Then, it is wood rot, but it turns out we have ants inside, in there. I said we may have to replace the wood that is infested with ants because it was rotten, but he did not do that. He just replaced the front board that was a trim. I don't know if it took him four hours, I was not here. He did it alright. He charged me $85 for parts, you know, wood. The wood I understand that happens. But he really did not do the job. He didn't go far enough and he sealed it all up and I thought, well great, now I have some ant stuff down. That is the frustrating part. He was early.

I was very impressed with the quality of his work. He left everything spotless. Charles is a very friendly contractor. Please give him a call. He is very good.

First off, Charlie was a really nice guy and got the job done. There was a problem getting this job scheduled as quickly as I expected. I ordered the job on 6-5, and finally got it done on 6-21.Maybe that was my problem being a first time Angie's List person and not knowing what to expect, but it started out to be the 14th, then quickly went to the 21st. Then, he didn't have the right wood and had to go get it - which I don't think I should have to pay for that time. If he had come to look at the job before hand, like one of your "Here's the Deal" description states, that would have been taken care of. And I would have added that inspection time to the $300 for 4 hours. I had a major problem with Charlie, in that I have a very protective and barky dog. He actually told Buddy to "shut up"! I am a mom, gramma, and long time pet owner, and have never used those words to any of them. I realize that Buddy is my problem, but "shut up" has never been in my vocabulary. He did give me advice to give the guys who will be painting the porch railing, so that was a good thing, and I will pass that on. All in all, I'm pleased with the job done, but not Angie's List , in general.

Charlie did great job fixing all the doors. We were missing hardware that I had to special order so I will book him again in the future. He was able to do alot in 3 hours.

Arrived on time for the estimate and looked at the projects we needed done at my daughters home. He gave us a price which was fair. Charles and his helper came 15 minutes before the scheduled install and unloaded all his required materials and tools on the porch where I told him it was ok to do so. They where professional and efficient. They finished in the allotted time. There was no extra charges. It was so well done we have hired him to do some projects at our home. Will update this service provider when he finishes.

Everything went well. When I discovered a small leak he returned the same week to resolve that problem.

It was fine. The deal covered it. It wasn't that big of a job. They were prompt in their response. It was a good deal and it was a fair price. They did what needed to be done for the cost. The service got completed. He's too far away.

He is the owner of the Barrington Fix-It Shoppe and is very personable and friendly, he allowed me to videotape his explanation of what he did in the repair, so I could later show it to my husband (some things too technical for me to remember). I would have liked to have a more permanent fix to the problem, but because we just moved in and the weather was getting colder, we had to take this temporary repair, he said it should last about 3-5 years and then we could get the entire 3-sections of patio windows remodeled completely. I think that will be an expensive project, and we like them the way they are, but we were happy he was able to remove the wood rot, and he even explained how he jacked up the bottom support under the sill, too, so he seems to know his carpentry skills. I thought the cost was a bit pricey for a little less than 4 hours work, but it needed to be done and we are happy we will not have to worry about any more moisture seeping into that problem area, at least for a few more years. We just bought this house and moved in September 1st, so are trying to hurry and get the most needed repairs done before winter, so appreciated his help that way, too.
