great presentation; the representative measured the entire house to determine the amount of BTUs needed to heat my house. This company was my second choice. The other company simply had a better price for me.

Arrived promptly, diagnosed and gave me an alternative of replacement or repair, repair being much cheaper, and he felt just as good.

I called them and they came out the next day, the guy that came couldn't find anything wrong (as the unit quit making the noise before he came), he was very thorough and professional and he stayed for some time trying to get it to make the noise again. overall very happy with the effort he put in.

He was very nice and very patient. He answered all of our questions thoroughly. The price wasn't outstanding and it wasn't a bad deal. He gave us a good advice. He was a very nice man.

We were happy with them. They did what they said they were going to do.

I needed some urgent re-wiring when my contractor found some exposed wire running through my kitchen walls. Althoff came out same day and the electrician took care of my situation, as well as replaced a switch and re-did some overhead lighting's wiring. I appreciated the quickness and he came back a day or 2 later to finish installing a new light that I had to buy. He went through and told me that my ceiling fixture was very old and he didn't feel right putting it back up (after painters had removed it) - it was definitely at least 30 years old, maybe 40. I appreciated that he wouldn't just put the old one back up. Overall cost of the electrician was not cheap, but then again, I requested same day service. No complaints other than I had an oversink light that I wanted installed (a basic model from Menard's) and he was unable to, because it would have required mounting on wood or something prior to installation. I still have no light above the sink because I am not sure what that meant, presently waiting on handyman. I recommend Althoff! They were there when I needed them.

They got back to him and listed out things they don't do, and later they came and said they were there to give an estimate. Maybe it was just a miscommunication, but we told them we had already hired somebody else.

Called at 8 am on a Saturday with a backed up toilet. I was told someone would arrive between 11 - 1. At 1:15 I called back and asked for an ETA. Technician arrived at about 2:30. Looked at the problem and the pipes in the basement. Now here is where your opinion of the service and price comes in. We opened the septic to make sure the problem wasn't there. He took one look and said it was bad and I should call in a septic guy. So basically it was $200 for no work. On the bright side he did not start rodding out the line only to have a failure and charge me $500+. On the negative side the guy from Arrow Septic took one look at the septic and said it was something Althof could have fixed quickly. Basically he spotted the blockage inside the tank and and rodded from outside in. So - overall I paid about $500 to have the problem fixed but could have limited it to $300 if Althof had recognized the problem correctly or I called the other guys first. Since I was expecting $500 for the day when I made the first call I am ok with this.

Neither individual could adequately determine problem.

We rmoved into a home during the winter and did not have a chance to evaluate the air conditioning system until June. We discovered that when the previous owner finished the basement they added 7 additional supply ducts and only 1 return. When air conditioning was needed, the basement stayed at 62 degrees while the living spaces on the main level remained at over 85 degrees. We called in Althoff to address the problem. Their initial quotes included closing off some of the supply ducts and adding several return ducts in the basement as the initial steps to alleviate the cooling issues based on an analysis of the space.. Before work began, I added a new outside unit to the quote (there was no pressure from Althoff to do so - it was strictly my decision as I felt the existing unit was undersized). Althoff showed up promptly and completed all work as specified in the qoute - the duct work as well as installation on a new air conditioner and evaporator. Employees were exttremely professional, courteous and performed top quality work. Shortly after we began using the system, we had an issue with the unit installed outside (manufactured by Carrier). Althoff sent technicians out to address the issue - it turned out to be a defective internal switch produced by the manufacturer. Before this was discovered, Althoff spent considerable resources diagnosing the problem and ultimately determining the cause in conjunction with the manufacturer. Their diligence in correcting and resolving the problem was admirable - they didn't just brush us off because it was a defect produced by the manufacturer of the unit.. Althoff is a company that clearly cares about the quality of their work, their customers and their reputation. Since the manufacturer's defect was resolved, the system works better than expected. Would highly recommend Althoff for any heating/cooling work.

Went very well. We also contracted to have a spring check-up of our heating system.

Have yearly contract with Althoff Industries Had slightly difficult time convincing person at Althoff that this was something that needed immediate attention and that I had a yearly contract for services, once that was accomplished they were quick and prompt in getting to the office. Service man was great and quick to solve the problem

Althoff is very well run and professional company. They were puntual in keeping their appointment and they were very polite in all of my dealings with them. I am pleased with the level of service I received from this company. They were not cheap in their pricing, but I do think it was fair for the work they provided.

I got a quote from them but I have not used them yet. They do electrical, air conditioning, vents, HVAC. They are a good company. They are locals.

We have been using them for maybe 20 years. They are professional. They provide service on time. When they do a job, they do it right.

My furnace was having fits on Friday evening. The blower was whining and working hard. I tried to coax it along so I could make an appointment for Monday. I would run the heat, and when the house was warmed, shut the furnace off for 4 to 6 hours. Sunday, I called Althoff to have them come out and check the problem. I had been doing some research on the problem and then joined Angies List. The first thing the repair tech did was to ask about the problem and then open the furnace and check things out. He replaced the capacitor and checked the motor. He suggested I get the motor replaced and told me that since it was old, it may be hard to find. He checked to see if Althoff carried it but was told it was a special order item. Turned the furnace on and small whine but furnace seemed fine for now. Tech finished about 12:30. The bill was 120.00 for the service call (Weekend rate) and 209.00 for the capacitor. The 209.00 seems a lot but it includes the labor charges. The actual part costs less than $40.00 so the labor rate is high. About 8 hours later, the blower motor was working harder than ever. I called Althoff and told them that I need the motor replaced. They told me they would place the order first thing Monday and they should get it Tuesday morning. I told them to go ahead and then I geared up the family for a very cold Monday night. Tuesday the motor came and the HVAC tech was here on time. He took the blower apart and found out the motor was missing mounting fins (old fashioned blower). He checked with his warehouse to see if they had a universal mounting bracket but they did not. The manufacturer did not recognize that the motor required a mounting bracket for the old blower housing and so did not include one in the order. Althoff ordered the part and the family spent another cold night. Wednesday morning, the tech and the motor and the mounting bracket were all here by 8:10 am and by 9:00 am there was heat moving in the house. Took about 4 hours to get the house to 70. This time around the cost was 531.00 for the motor/mounting bracket/labor. (Tuesday there was no charge because the problem was not fixed.) I know I will have to replace the furnace and probably the A/C in the near future. Currently, the $800.00 was a bit more than I would have thought and wanted to spend but still less than a new furnace. I just need it to carry me through to next summer and I hope the furnace prices do not get much higher before I can replace mine.In all, the techs were very professional and knowledgeable. They worked and finished in a timely manor and I am happy with the job. I am glad I could find a company that is within 5 miles from me and that does good work. Pricing is a little steep but then again, I think everyone would like to purchase things at little to no cost. However, the world does not work that way. So, even though the pricing is what it is, I would still have these people back if there are any future problems with my Heating or A/C. ***** Thank you Althoff! *****

They have been wonderful. We had estimates from various companies 16 years ago. Althoff, not only came in lower monetarily, they were more professional and we had their trust fromn the minute they walked in the door. They are always concerned about putting "booties" on when they walk in the door and keep the area as clean as they find it.

The service was excellent and they provide quality work. I will use them again in the future.

I have been using Althoff Industries Inc Company’s services for eight years. They call and give me a window time frame. I always ask them to call me before they show up and they do. They are always on time. They are neat and clean. They clean up well after themselves. They go through everything with me every time. I would continue to use them in the future.

It was a great experience. It helps to know exactly what you need done so their technicians can give a better estimate of time. The technician was efficient and professional.

Due to the storms in Northern Illinois in July, Our Unico air conditioner was damage by the storms. The blower motor was shorted out. I called a number of A/C repair groups, to be told "No, we dont work on UNICO Systems" or "We fix'em all" I call Master Tech, 24-hour service (DONT CALL THEM) See my report on them "F". I called Althoff industries (Crystal Lake) and they came out on very short notice. Gave an estimate (high in my eyes, but I did not know the Unico A/C systems), that was very appropriate to the A/C system. The serviceman (Jim G) was very nice and professional. He worked in very HOT conditions in the attic of the house. He repaired the system quickly as possible. I felt the price was alittle high, But you get what you pay for, and I will have ALTHOFF INDUSTRIES come do all of my A/C work for now on. ( See they also do plumbing,and electrical too....I'll be callin them when the time comes!) Good service, courteous, and professional. A+ work.

We woke up on a Sunday morning to water dipping from our Kitchen ceiling creating a pool on our counters and floor. Upon calling Althoff Industries' call center we were kindly greeted. After finding out the description of the problem we were asked to wait for a call from their weekend dispatch. I was pleasantly suprised to get a call back within ten minutes. After describing the problem again he mentioned that someone will be sent out promptly. The Plubmer came out within 45 minutes. He asked questions and listened politely to my theories. He then started his own investigation and shortly found the source of the leak. The toilet in our masterbath had some loose bolts on the tank. Once repaired he waited to make sure that the leak had stopped. The price was reasonable and the the Angies List discount covered the extra expense from the Sunday emergency call out.

I spent $600 on the last job. They are very reliable and conscientious about my home. They are very prompt about when they are going to come and are reasonably priced.

After it was determined that a Engery Recovery Ventilator could not be installed in our basement ceiling due to filled bays, we went for a High efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) system. It has reduced the amount of dust in our house which was our main goal.
