A1 Raising was available to do the job in less than a week's time from the first phone call. The foundation of the garage was fractured in four pieces with cracks that formed a giant 'X' corner-to-corner across the floor. Facing the garage door from the outside, the left piece was slightly tilted, where it was about a 1/2" down where it met the wall on the far-left, and about a 1/2" up where it met the middle of the floor. Jeff showed up on time and spent a few hours trying to raise the tilted (left) side of the garage floor, and was unsuccessful, and from my perspective he made it worse. The broken floor was now raised in the middle about 3 inches above where it met the other broken pieces, creating a tripping hazard. In addition, the base-plate of the garage wall on that side was now sporting a 1.5" gap between the bottom of the wall and the foundation wall. So, the offsets were increased three-to-six fold. After he was done, he told me that he was not able to raise the floor and so I paid what we agreed to before he performed services, his minimum charge of $675. Several days afterword, and after opening and closing the garage door several times, the garage door jammed where it went diagonal in the tracks, and the opener pulled out of the door, creating a hole in the door. This happened because the side of the garage that had fallen, was now so far out of whack due to the tilt of the floor as a result of Jeff's attempts to raise it, that it was wider at the bottom than the top. I had several concrete contractors come and look at the situation, and one suggested that I attach a large beam to the side of the garage, jack it up and ask Jeff to come back to try to raise it again. He also said that Jeff did not drill the holes (for the mud-jacking injections) close enough to the edge to bring up the foundation. I did as he said, and called A1 Concrete Raising to see if they would make a deal to come back. I left a message with the woman who answered the phone. No one from A1 Concrete Raising called me back after I left the message. After joining Angie's list, I found another mudjacker, but with a good reputation, and he agreed to give it a try. He came out and had some difficulty at first, but was able to bring up the left side after some trial and error. He also jacked up the other parts of the perimeter of the garage, narrowing the gaps in the cracks. That contractor was Concrete Corrections of Elgin, and I would recommend this contractor, Grant in a heartbeat. Incidentally, Grant also agreed that I would not pay him anything if he was unsuccessful.
Description of Work: Holes drilled around the foundation and mud injected.
